Need for Speed!

Looking for a cycle game with lots of speed an action? Then you need to check out this game! Set in the distant future, racing corporate sponsored futuristic cycles on insanely looped tracks against other cycle teams at blistering speeds! Now add turbo boost, a couple of rocket launchers mounted on your bike, and a bigger badder engine to break the sound barrier, which by the way is a nice touch in which everything just goes silent, and now you have a death machine on two wheels to literally blow away the competition! You earn credits by placing in the race and then are able to upgrade your bike. Controls take a little getting used to and you may have to reconfigure the buttons until you feel comfortable. Graphics are awesome if you got the time to look at them, as you are often to busy focusing on the track and the other bikers trying to blow them out the way. Only complaint I had was there is no instant replay like in Gran Turismo 3, but other than that this game is right on! I would of liked a little more customization such as choosing colors of bikes, perhaps maybe different models, some suspension parts, and engine upgrades as well as more weapon selection. Even customize the driver, oh well maybe next time. Overall its a great game guaranteed to have you glued in front of the TV for hours!

A game worthy to share a system with GT3

What makes XG3 so appealing? Driving a futuristic motorcycle at speeds over 700 mph? Being able to use weapons? The beautiful tracks and gut-wretching drops, turns, twists, and loops? Perhaps the weather effects and exhaust flare add a bit?

I think all of them come together perfectly to make XG3 the best high-speed racer available today. And, since it isn't known whether PS2's Wipeout will make it state-side, this game may serve to sate a great deal of racing fans' desires.

It's difficult to say one thing that stands out in this game. Everything is top-notch. If there is a hindrance, it's in the cityscape when it's raining; there is some minor slow-down, but it's temporary and doesn't affect gameplay.

If you need a racer to fill in after GT3's completion, here's a title for you. Worth every penny, too.

It's a worth Racing Game for the PS2.

Extreme G3 is a good game. For those of you who played it on the N64, it is much better, with a few exceptions. I must say, the graphics are excellent, and the racers are cool. There are a decent variety of courses, and they are well designed. The game is made so that you race in tournament mode to get more new tracks, and money, to upgrade bike parts, or buy weapons. The weapons are very cool, as are the upgrades, except for the best engine in the game. The problem with it is, that you go too fast. Far too fast. Even people with excellent reaction time will have a challenge of trying to get through a course without crashing till you blow up.

I do recommend this to the racing fan, but the learning curve can at times be high, though it is a worthy game for the PS2.

Well here's another solid racing game for the PS2. Personally I enjoy fantasy racing and this game definitely did the trick. But as is the case with many games play value becomes an issue. This game definitely has play value but not enough of it. Once you buy all the weapons and upgrades, you have nothing to do. The game could use more of the above. And would it hurt to slow down the game a little? This game is definitely not for beginning gamers. The controls are tricky and the weapons icons hard to see. My advice stick with GT3. That's it from me. I'm out :)

FAst, but doesn't last......

If you like the Wipeout series, you'll like this game. Same look, same sense of speed. The physics aren't as floaty, which makes sense, since these are motorcycles, not "anti grav craft".
The track design kind of [is bad], too many "blind corners while going uphill" kind of things, which aren't challenging, just too hard and mess up the flow of the tracks sometimes. I found control with the analog stick impossible. Plus I finished in about 5 hours of play.......If you can't wait for Wipeout Fusion, buy it. If you can wait, don't.

Great graphics...

I think the graphics in Extreme G3 are pretty amazing, and there isn't much slowdown. I'm annoyed by the League system because you have to play the same courses over and over, just with different engines.

The weapons also annoy me because they don't really help much, in the ultimate sense. You can win with or without them -- they are just to play with. The rear-firing ones don't seem to do anything either.... I'm sure they do, but you just can't tell.

The single most annoying feature, however, and the one that no one has mentioned, and that would prevent me from recommending buying this game: getting stuck on the walls. There is some weird thing; if you get near the edge of the track, you get magnetized to the wall and it takes a second to get off it.

If you liked the wipeout and wipeout xl games, get this game! The racing is intense...The weapons are awesome. Its a must have, really. If you were disapointed in wipeout fusion (like most of us were), this game will make up for it.

Love this game a lot. Just had to replace it because the old one got scratched up.
