No matter what you think about Pokemon, I think you should get this game. it is a nice adventure/action/rpg game. Fun for all ages, nice game to play when you are going on trips. Challenging and satisfying game. If you beat the game, the 'other' adventure is just beging to capture all the pokemons out there.

Having played every other pokemon version, Silver overall is a solid 9 out of 10. Compared to Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow, Silver and Gold are a serious improvement to the world of Pokemon. Almost all 150 of the original Pokemon appear once again in the game however if you intend to complete your Pokedex you will need an older version. A new generation of 100 new Pokemon make an apperance in Pokemon Silver, Gold and Crystal. Most of these Pokemon are brand new but some of the older ones are given new evolutions or can only be obtained through the breeder outside of Goldenrod. To get the most fun out of the game, you shouldn't worry about the completing the pokedex the first time around but by just training and battling your favorites. If you want to win, Dragonite is one of the best Pokemon you can raise if you're going for power. The second time around, get a decent walkthrough off the internet, buy or trade from Red, Yellow, Blue, Gold or Crystal and you'll have beaten the game overall. Here's a tip too, organize all of your PC boxes by type. There are 14 overall, 20 pokemon fitting in one box. So, I hope you have fun, Silver, Gold and Crystal are not too difficult and if you get stuck, consult the internet.

Pokemon Gold/Silver
By: Zike the Fox (Harrison)
Rated: E
Release Date: October 14th, 2000
Box Warnings: N/A
My Warnings: Psychics, dark powers

----

Story: 7.5/10

The as-always Pokemon story. You play as a Pokemon Trainer who's mission is to become the best Pokemon Trainer in the world. Thats all there is to it.

Graphics: 8.9/10

This game right here is a huge graphical achivement for the Gameboy Color. With animated battle motions, along with the great trainer and Pokemon sprites. I have yet to see a Gameboy Color game match this. Its that good. All I can say is that I was stunned when I turned it on. There is even a fully animated intro in the beginning of the game. Also, two warnings, there are a few psychic trainers in the game, and psychic-powered Pokemon. This seems to be the main problem with most Pokemon games, but I found few things wrong with it. I commonly use psychic Pokemon. There are also dark Pokemon and attacks. Although, its not nearly as bad as the psychics, and most likely will be ignored.

Sound: 8.8/10

Common Gameboy music. Although, so of the music is quite catchy (I'm very fond of the Pallet, Ecruteak, and New Bark towns music) and enjoyable. Sound effects, pretty good, actually. I like most of the Pokemon cries, and the sound of when you launch a beam attack. All in all, very good.

Gameplay: 9.3/10

Like most Pokemon games, the gameplay is phenominal. It can take you forever to TRULY beat the game (Finish the Pokedex). When you first start on the game, your asked to set the time, day, and if its daylight savings. What time it is makes a HUGE difference as to what you can do. On some days, you can get hair-cuts for your Pokemon. Other days, the Clefairy are dancing in Mt. Moon, and you can go and catch one, and, since the day and night also effect the time, you can only catch certain Pokemon at certain times of the day. Also, the battling also goes very smooth and is flawless. A large amount of stratagy has to be used in order to win a match (unless you have an insanely over-powered Pokemon). One of the big aspects of playing Pokemon Gold/Silver (or any Pokemon game for that matter) is trading Pokemon to another player (preferably with the alternate version from yours). You can also battle your friends the same way. You can even trade with people who are playing Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow later in the game. Its a great game for anybody to play!

Controls: 10/10

Aww, you know how Pokemon controls, and theres nothin' to it. Up, down, left, right, choose, talk, and no. Thats all there is.

Overall: 8.9/10

An overall wonderful game. One of the Gameboy's best games. IIt lacks nothing and I mean NOTHING! Its a great game worth playing, and anyone can play Pokemon. Good job, Game Freak!

This has to be the best of the Pokémon RPGs. The graphics are so much better than the R/B/Y versions. Plus that day and night feature and the PokéGear are neat features. A must have. Plus, the Pokémon graphics in Silver are better than the Gold version.

Good Game, Just Not as Good as the First

I really do like Pokemon as a crossover of monster training and RPG crossover. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, but I just got bored with it. It doesn't have enough variance in the gameplay. Surprisingly, I played the first one a lot more. Neither of them are very deep. The concept is shallow, the story is simple, and it's really just easy. Mark my words, when you've played this game enough, you will get bored. The formula is just wearing thin. No characters (Ash is no character, he never speaks.) The whole thing is emotionless, and it gets boring. And the battle system!!! It's terrible! I can't figure out why I liked the original with all these flaws, and by all respects I should like this one just as much. But I don't! Me and my friend played it so much when we bought it, and now after all those hours of gameplay, we just stopped. I don't know why, but you will miss the simplicity of the first one. There's just too much to worry about. Sorry, and I know that no one will like the review, but to any other 14 year olds out there who still play the game, you'll get tired of it! And if you want an RPG that you won't tire of, check out FF7 or Grandia or FF9!(All on Playstation!) The characters are great and you'll find yourself deeply attached to the game! Maybe if I find that stupid complete pokedex that they just wouldn't release, I'll like the game more! But right now, I am just tired of it!

Best and I mean best Pokemon Game of all time!
