Pretty good

This is a pretty good game. If your expecting another roller coaster tycoon, you'll get a surprise. This game is much different. It's more realistic than stuff like that. For instance, you are paying your employees more like a thousand bucks a month instead of 200 like in other "tycoon" games. It's good training for business management. You won't find it much fun unless you like managing a business. It also got a lot of mafia and Godfather references. You are sponsored by Don Corleone, who often refers to the *family*. One of your chefs is his nephew, Mario Corleone. He gives you an "old family restaurant" called La Cosa Nostra. Overall, this is a pretty good game. All the customers have the same weird expression, but the gameplay is very realistic.

THIS GAME WOULD NOT INSTALL ON MY COMPUTER AND TECH SUPPORT STATED THEY'VE RECEIVED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND ARE UNWILLING TO REFUND. MY COMPUTER IS BRAND NEW AND MATCHED THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND I SPENT HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THE GAME HAS SOME COMPATABILITY ERRORS. SO I SPENT $30 AND CAN NOT RETURN OR PLAY THE GAME.

This is one fun game! Though it doesn't cover every aspect of owning/running a restaurant, it hits enough points to make this a detailed, entertaining, and somewhat difficult game. Very addictive. The graphics, while dated, do a fine job--though nothing spectacular. The audio isn't loaded with tons of variety, but again does the job just fine. What makes this game worth owning is that it's sort of like "reality-light." I've always wanted to own a restaurant, but know the huge financial/time pressures involved. This is much cheaper than the real thing--and very fun!

Great game but serious bugs

I downloaded the demo for this game and was hooked! Some of the best graphics I've ever seen for a game. I couldn't wait to go out and buy it. I got the game home and could not install it. I checked all the system requirements. It took some time for Tech Support to call me. After about a week, I found out the copy protection program is not compatiable with my computer. Since that time, I've found that MANY other people are having the same problems and our only options are to mail the game to the company in HONG KONG to receive the disk that will work as the stores will not refund our money for an opened game. The game itself is GREAT and one of the best simulation games I've seen...however, it's got some serious bugs. It may or may not work on your computer. You'll just have to take a chance!

EXCELLENT for reality game lovers and foodies!!

If you love SimCity and The Sims, you will LOVE this even more!! It's like all the good things of those two games rolled into one, with one added benefit: SPECIFIC goals and challenges.
Pros: Excellent challenges, including Iron-Chef type battles, difficult management challenges, endless game-play, great graphics and easy, crash-free operation.
Cons: Challenges are REALLY hard the further you get!!

Becoming a successful restaurateur...at least in the game

Ok, so this game isn't exactly new and I didn't just get it either. I'm merely late for writing this review as it took me a little while to really sit down for a while and warm up to it enough to really play it in a manner that allowed me to enjoy it. And enjoy it I did!

This game is a lot of fun. Delaing with it through the first few scenarios may be a little boring, perhaps even a bit easy (part of why it didn't suck me in right away) but as you progress, you have a lot of neat extras (chefs, recipes, restaurants, etc.) and the new scenarios start getting a bit more difficult which makes it more challenging and enjoyable. I have to say, thank God for the feature that allows you to set an easier scenario when you fail at it the first time. I have to admit I've used it on a few occasions.

I don't think, as some reviewers state, that playing this, even excelling at it for hours on end, readies you to take the plung into the real live restaurant business but you do get to see glimpses of it. It helps with business-taking decisions, budgeting, managing resopnsibilities, etc.

A few shortcomings? The sequences between Armand and his uncle are too long and can't be shortened or cut. Overall, no complaints. Also, my computer is kinda old and so's my video card and all that stuff but I never had any problems getting it to work or run.

So, overall, a fun game that will quickly become one of your favorites, especially if you enjoy Sim games. It is a very well done product that'll keep your interest, challenge your skills, become somewhat of an addiction, and most of all, give you hours of fun. So sit through it, you won't regret it!

Awesome!!

Restaurant Empire is the management game where you design and manage your own restaurant.
You can design a restaurant from 5 main themes - seafood, steakhouse, French, Italian and music.

You have complete control over the look of your restaurant - you can choose the floor and wall styles, add interior items, new rooms and choose what your restaurant looks like from the outside.

You can choose from a wide variety of meals, drinks and deserts to add to your menu, and can even customize the look of your menu! (Font included).

Graphically, think the Sims only better! Where in the Sims you could only rotate four times and were limited to a few zooms, in Restaurant Empire, you can rotate 360 degrees, zoom in and out freely and tilt the camera!

The game comes with a sandbox mode (free game, build a restaurant from scratch) and mission based game with over a dozen scenarios.

Well worth buying.

A winner of a business sim

Being a long ago fan of Enlight's Capitalism Plus from several years back and of Iron Chef, it didn't take much for this game to get my attention. Thankfully, it met the potential the concept and the company suggested.
Restaurant Empire starts you out with a single restaurant and gives you the chance to create a business empire from there. Overall, it's a business sim, but you get to focus on more than the core of the business sim -- prices, costs and profits. You are in charge of laying out your restaurants, something that affects the performance of your restaurant greatly. You also need to watch your restaurant(s) and keep and eye for where problems are appearing.
RE strikes a good balance in that at the beginning of the game there's a lot of micromanagement but that lessens as you get more to do. This works well as rarely do you have too little or too much to do.
The story mode includes easy to follow (too easy at times)turtorials that progress slowly, making learning the game a snap.
Restaurant Empire is another strong business sim from Enlight.

I got this game for my birthday and it was really fun. It lasted hurs and I got to be a cook, but after a while, the 3D started giving me a headache. It is also sometimes hard to remember all of the keys and buttons.

I got it for my sister-in-law who loves to cook for xmas. She can not stop playing..and my brother stays up till 3am playing after she finally goes to bed. They love it. You get to make all the decisions from top to bottom. From when you open to what you serve. It is totally amazing especially for the price. They are big on computer games so they know what is out there and they rate it up there!
