This game is awesome! The plot was very good and the gameplay was even better. Being an anime fan, I liked the fact that it was very animeish like while still being an rpg. This game is easy to follow. It's a great game to start with for those just getting into rpgs.

A decent RPG, especially for the RPG starved GBA

There isn't anything particularly amazing about Lunar ... the graphics are amazing, but the story is just alright, the battle system is pretty much standard fare. And yet despite all the medicority of all the individual parts Lunar still manages to be a fun playing experience.

The gameplay pretty much follows a linear path ... you talk to people in town, they direct you to the next dungeon, you fight a lot of random battles, you make it to a boss, you beat him, you go back to the town to get praise and directions to the next town in distress. Pretty standard fare. There aren't any side-quests, no real item custimization (other than the normal weapon and armor sellers), and you can't even customize your party (people come and go at various points in the story).

And yet, somehow Lunar manages to still be a solid game to play. While it won't leave you awed at its greatness (like FF Tactics Advance) it still won't leave you feeling cheated either. It's not the greatest RPG out there for the GBA, but it has some intangibles that do make it a quality play.

"LUNAR" The Legend Continues!

Alex returns in a ultra sweet RPG that's gonna go through the roof! "LUNAR Legends" for GBA, aka "LUNAR For The Go"! This game may not have Anime movies, but does have anime with in the game! Sweet, right? No worries for all you "LUNAR Veterans"! Magic is still in full effect! I see nothing, & I MEAN NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS GAME! I'd give ten for looks but yet, have no other information.

This game has to be good!!

I totaly agree with the person who wrote the review, "this game's going to be awesome", I mean come on it's LUNAR! I played both of the PSX versions of the games and this is a remake of the first. I hope they don't change too many things. One change I know they'll make is editing out the best dialog.(sniff sniff, so sad) And they definatly won't be able to do the cutscenes, that [is bad]! But hey, it's still LUNAR, so you can't go wrong. Hopefuly this will be the thing that brings the "LUNAR legend" back to life.
-peace out!

Cutting down a game that's over rated.

I bought this hoping for some quality of the PSX versions (except portable), but I'm sadly disappointed, the story line has been cut down, game length is shorter, (very) bad translation, and much easier to beat (for example):

-Your characters are completely healed whenever you start from any save, even if they were all near death.-

To get to the point, this game is HIGHLY overrated, and will bore anyone who's capable of reading 'Curious George'. Don't even bother with it, the only reason I gave it a 2 is because the music is still rather catchy. I apologize for the simplified rating I've given it, basically a stay away warning, but I don't have all eternity on my hands ^_^.

Highly Over-rated

A friend let me borrow this game claiming it was really great. I played it through expecting the game to get interesting. It didn't.

-the game is not challenging in any way
-the game consists of tons of meaningless leveling mixed with a few extremely easy bosses (with a pathetically easy boss at the end of the game)
-predictable storyline
-random battles happen every 3 seconds or so...it gets very tiresome
-areas/puzzels are easy enough for a young child to beat
-character dialog is immature... the target audience must be eight year olds
-the game is highly linear. You move from task to task with zero exploration of the world. Weapons are gained in an easy and predictable fashion
-the graphics are fairly decent, which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1.....that and it has a fairly amusing story line with cool anime.

I would recommend this game to children grades 1 through 6. Anyone older need not waste their time or money.

great game but not so challenging

this game is pretty easy to beat(especially the last boss),and the characters talk way to much, but it has a good storyline.
*challenging 8/10
*long hours of gameplay(compared to the other games that I have played on the gba)7/10
*graphics 10/10(the characters are soooooooooo cute I just want to hug them to death)
*storyline 8/10

My little cartridge of Lunar heaven

I'm speechless. I mean, the most enjoyable RPG and possibly most under-rated videogame of all time makes it's compacted appearence on the Gameboy Advance. I just bought this cart today, so I really can't write an objective review, but so far it's been sheer bliss. I own both versions of each Lunar for the PSX, but my PSX is now broken and the games have become more of my own personal collecting fancy. I've missed the sounds, the dialog, the personality of Lunar... And the GBA version does a awesome job of maintaining that original feel. Though, a HUGE chunk of the gameplay has been altered from it's original state for the port, the feel remains the same. If you've played Lunar: SSS and are looking for a shining blue traveling universe, look no further then Lunar Legend.
