OK for starters let me let you no i played this game for hours strait. OK now to the review.
in the year 20xx the whole world is connected on the net (kinda like the internet but kinda different). Everything even like phones and tvs and water coolers are connected to this. Then there's this net mafia, Gospel, who seems more like a terrorist orgainisation later on. Well anyways Gospel is going to destroy the whole world, real and virtual.
You take the role of Lan Hikari and his program, called a NetNavi, named Megaman.exe. Battles in this game are real time where you use weapons call Battle Chips. These battle chips, which there are a total of 260, do different attacks and each have a certain letter code. You can use as many as you want in one turn as long as they have the same letter code. For example you can use a Cannon A and Sword A. When battle starts you can use the chip with A and Fire your Buster Cannon with B. As you progress in the game you will get higher HP and get PowerUps which let you make your bustercannon stronger.
This game takes place both in the virtual world and real world. In the real world you can jack in, go into the item in the net, to nearly everything.
This game is not "kiddy" like the first one. It may seem so in the very beggining but after that your having to stop bombings, killings of all the Official Netbattlers, Destroying of Total Countries, and eventually save the whole world from being destroyed by a super navi and extreme radiation of like 600k times the normal amount.
This game is a great game but you might want to play the first even though it is "kiddy" and no where near as good, but you might not understand some things mentioned at the end of the second one.

Even older teens enjoy this game.

If you don't have the first one, don't bother buying it, this one is so much better and "advanced" then the first Megaman Battle Network. The reason its better is because of the new attributed ability "Style Change". You first start out with Lan's PET (megaman) a program that goes through the cyberworld helping collect info and used to talk to friends, but Megaman has a different way of getting around, Megaman takes out his lazer cannon and blows away viruses, very cool. And because Lan and Megaman like getting their nose in everything you eventually end up having to save the world. The game is an RPG but the battle sequence is awsome, first the screen goes black (PoKeMoN-ish) and then you get to the battle screen. When you get in to the battle screen your chip (computer chips that contain different powers) folder up and you choose some chips to use then click "okay" and then there you are face to face with some enemy based in real time. Making the battle in real time makes the game awsome (totally opposite from games like "Golden Sun"and "Breath of Fire" were you and your opponents take turns killing( real time makes the game more realistic so if you don't move out of the way you'll get hit by something hard.
Like I said before there is the option to style change after you beat the first bad guy. I have a style change "ElecGuts" it doubles Megamans attack power, but decreases his spead to one. Style change changes the look of how Megaman looks on the battle screen only and also his "charge attack" turns into a Zap Ring. Their are tons of different styles but you'll have to figure them out for yourself.
Here are some tips and things I like best about the game.
1. Exellent graphics.
2.Battle Setting is in real time.
3.(tip) combine FireBlade R, AquaBlade R, and ElecBlade R together and they advance into LifeSword3 which deals 600 damage(yawza).

Don't judge a game by it's box

OK "Jimmy" let's see... 1 good point about this game= RPG is a role playing game every one has a role. The battle system is not what makes a RPG. 2. This game is for MegaMan fans that have been with the series all the way from NES to GBA. So you most likly wouldn't know. 3. An 11-year old is a pre-teen don't call 'em a kid this game was fun for my brother who is 24. 4. MegaMan fans will love it 'cause most people don't care whether its an rpg or not. P.S. I can't write reveiws very well.

This game is amazing. It was a perfect sequel for "MegaMan Battle Network". All my friends have part one, and are planning to get part two!
The new challenge is MMBN2 is that after every battle, you're health doesn't replenish, and you have to you healing items! It has more levels and Battle Chips to collect! It is a gotta' have for the GBA!

For those of you who think this is a RPG you are half right (for pessimists you are half wrong). It is a real time RPG you can move around the 3x6 battle feild as much a s you want as long as you stay on your side. It also has areas of the battle feild that have some special thing about it there are even rocks sometimes. the only time the battle stops is when you pick from a wide veriety of battle chips this game is totaly sweet.

This game is a great sequel to the original. A lot of thought was given in, since Capcom didn't simply add more chips and change the plot (reminiscent of the pokemon series) but added a whole lot of new stuff. There's a new style system, multiple folders option, terrain changes, hidden rewards and a better two player mode.
First of all, I enjoy very much RPG's, but even more RPG fusions, because they add more interactivity to a game instead of just waiting for your turn wich some people find simply exasperating. The action element makes this game fast paced and makes you work your reflex time while you still have to improve your equipment either with hard to get power ups or by winning battle chips from enemies. A whole new interaction is introduced, since you need to be powerfull enough to beat some viruses fast enough to get a reward, but beating many viruses gives you money to buy power ups. To win, you have to improve yourself, get new attacks and move fast enough.
The graphics, lively and colorfull, are very good for a portable system, and altough you could argue they haven't evolved very much from the first part, later in the game new NPC'S designs are introduced. This was very limited in the first game and it is a great jump in the graphics quality. Also, having played megaman since the begining, I enjoy watching new designs of old friends and foes like Heatman or Protoman.
Replay value is great, since the game has some hidden stuff and sidequests to do. Not to mention that many people will strive to complete their chip collection and get a five star rating. The two player mode, altough painfull to find someone else with a cartridge, has evolved from the first one with the introduction of new terrains, elemental weaknesses amongst styles and more "only-duel" chips, wich take advantage of the other player's battle rituals, since the use of element chips, swords, navi's or healing chips are now able to be punished. Afterwards, some chips can only be won by beating you friend in battle.
Megaman Battle Network 2 is a great sequel and very original. Plot elements are well thought of and the game's gameplay and replay value make it a great purchase.

Not your typical RPG

O.K. first things first. Many gamers at first look will pass this game by without a second thought. I don't blame them, what with the kiddish box-art and graphics, and the fact that this isn't your everyday MegaMan platformer. The only reason I got this game was because it was a birthday present. I had no idea i was getting it. However, after I tried it out for a few hours i was hooked. This is not your everyday RPG. I don't want to get into the plot, but here is a quick pre-emp of the world in MMBN2: In the future there are two worlds, the net and the real world. People have things called NAVIS that can access the net when plugged in to certain places. NAVIS can bust viruses and run real-world devices. In this game a group of called Net-Mafia Gospel has arrison and is causing all kinds of bad stuff. To bust viruses, you use chips that you aquire throughout the game. Using chips you have, you must form a folder of 30. During battle, five random chips from your folder will come up. Select the chip(s) you want to use touse them in battle. In a battle you can move freely around in a 9-square grid and attack your opponent with attacks in his 9-square grid. If you use all your chips you can use your X-buster (low power shot) or press L or R once your custom guage is full to bring up new chips from your folder. Also, chips have letters next to them. You can select multiple chips in battle if they have the same letter or are the same type. For example, if at the start of battle you have a Cannon B, a Cannons C, a Lil Bomb B, a Spreader S, and a Shotgun S, then you can choose either the two cannons, the cannon B and the lil bomb B, or the two ones with S. Thats basically how the battle system works. Combine that with 4 different styles (water, fire, elec, and earth) you can get and a chip fusion system, and you have a top quality game.

GRAPHICS- 3.5 Nothin special but don't hurt the game either
SOUND- 3.0 Once again nothin great. Tunes are catchy if a little annoying.
CONTROL- 4.5 The controls in the world and in battle are a breeze, but sometimes battle movement is a little stiff.
REPLAY- 4.5 With over 266 (16 secret ones),32 P.A.'s (fusions), 4 secret bosses, a big secret area, and different levels of bosses, this game has tons of replay value. I've been playing for 75 hours and only have 230 chips.
GAMEPLAY- 5.0 A very addictive game worthy of any gamer.
LEVEL- Medium Normal game medium level but the secret stuff is a lot harder. Also, with all the elements of this game, i don't recommend it to younger gamers.

This is a great gtame for all ages. It does however get a little frustrating becuase viruses pop up all the time and you have to fight then, it is very hard to escape. This is only a minor drawback however and I highly recomend this game

Megaman BN 2

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 1

Megamam BN 2, although still fun, is not all it used to be in BN 1. The year is (presumably) 20X1, and net crime is back on the rise, after taking a sharp drop since our main protagonist Lan defeated the last world dominating evil orgainzation, the WWW, or three worlds. This new threat, a mafya organization called Gospel, is beginning to wreak havock, so as to build their "Super Navi." Lan still has Hub...er MegaMan.EXE as his Navi, which he uses to surf the now three dementional internet.
Several things about this game may be found irksome to veteral BN 1 players. the battle system has changed, making it somewhat harder to get a large assortment of chips avalable for use. Any damage you take in battle is not healed after you leave battle, as opposed to the instant healing process that took place in BN 1. Instead you pay for stupid little things called SubChips, which can heal 50, 100, or MAX HP, as well as not let you encounter viruses with an HP lower than yours for a hundred or so steps, and one chip will even unlock those pesky purple datas, which have valuable items inside.
The gameplay puzzles, especially in Electopia's "Mother Computer" zone are considerably harder, and more time consuming, and bosses HP levels are signifigantly higher in this game. Chip damage levels have changed, making what used to be less powerful attacks more powerful, and vice versa.
Lan, and also various anonymous characters, now seem to feel at freedom to utter profanaties at opportune moments (E.G: damn, hell), which I found as quite a shock, as none such words were ever used in BN 1.
Destinations on the MetroLine have changed as well, SciLab being replaced by the official "Center" in a new area called Marine Harbor. Den City is no longer a selectable destination, it being replaced by Okuden camping grounds, and the newly invented Airport, from where you can reach a new country called Netopia, among others. Lan still rides free, as elementary school students get not only free train tickets, but also free plane tickets.
Overall, the game still has me hooked, albiet not with the luster that BN 1 captured me with, but it is worth the money. Just delete the old game if you get it used, as you'll be totally lost otherwise.
