this game is great!(no doubt about that...)i saw some screenshots and decided to buy it.there are plenty of ups and downs in this game...so i'm gonna tell the up's 1st:

it's an RPG,you get to walk around and talk with people

cool graphics

yugi and joey can walk with you

you get god cards

you can batlle yugi and joey at the card shop

You can see the god cards on your screen when ishuzu brings them back!

and an old side quest from the sacred cards also is here, the man who wants to marry mai,(...I FORGOT HIS NAME..)she wants you to battle him and if you win he will not marry mai...blah blah blah...and the dumb part that makes the game B.O.R.I.N.G is that you have to choose a weakling and battle him over and over and over and over again until you get enough deck capacity to get some really good monsters.(ex:duke devlin at the card shop)

and heres the downs folks:

you have to battle a guy over and over again until u have enough deck capacity(as i mentioned above)

you dont get very good cards at the beginning(ex:monster eye)

when you go to put a password for a card you have to pay 1000 domino for it(they could have made the price 500)

the neo ghouls will be hard for you if you dont get very good cards and a high duelist level

well, these are all the downs i don't like the most, others can be found at some other reviews.and dont ever think to compare any gba game with an xbox or a ps2,it doesnt make any senseif you do really,i read a review of a boy from another site it was written that "of course xbox and ps2 games are better than that...".the PROMos were great too.

Awesome game, awesome cards.

While this game is called the sequel to "The Sacred Cards" they arent really related except in the style of gameplay. The game would undoubtedly be better if it started where the Sacreed Cards left off, but thats a different issue.
The game's story may be its weakest point. You, Joey and Yugi have to get back the millenium items to revive the god cards to seal the "Reshef" away. But once you get into the game. The dueling is loosely based on the card game (loosely meaning, a lot of the effects are wrong but the rules are the same), and you can walk around the world dueling people from the t.v. show. The cards are hard to get though. I've been playing for hours and I still don't have the money to get a single Blue-Eyes White dragon. But if you save your money and get swords of revealing light a long with a strong monster or two, you can go far. You get Slifer (the first god card) very early in the game, so swords of revealing light comes in handy. once you get a god card, though, it becomes impossible to have as strong no-tribute monsters as the opponent. So your magic cards play a huge role.
Now on to the promo cards. Reshef of Destruction comes with three great cards for a dark magician deck: Dark Magician Knight, Knight's Title and Sage's Stone. If you have a Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, then this is one of the best combos you could find. With those cards in your deck, you can have a second turn Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl on the field. On the third turn you could take out any card in the game for a direct attack by a 2500/2100 monster. I'll explain.
Sage's stone is a spell card that lets you special summon a Dark Magician from your deck or hand. It can only be played if a Dark Magician Girl is face up on the field. Knight's title is a card that special summons a Dark Magician Knight by sacrificing a Dark Magician. Dark Magician Knight is a 2500/2100 monster that has an effect:"This card cannot be normal summoned or set. This card cannot be special summoned except by the effect of "Knight's Title". If this card is special summoned successfully, select one card on the field and destroy it."
The game is great for yugioh fans, and the cards are a must have for any duelist with a Dark Magician.

Save the World!!!!!!

Okay, i'll give you the storyline(contains a lot of spoilers).
Joey is checin' out your deck, when Yugi rushes in crying. He says the Puzzle is gone!Rush two screens, and you'll find Ischizu. She reveals that the God Cards were turned to stone. Then she tells you all about Reshef the Dark Being. After a bit,you go to the Duel Express tournament. When you get into the second car,Panik appears. When the Duel Express reaches the Egypt Exhibition, talk to the guy in front. He'll let you in,just in time to see Panik get his butt kicked by a Millenium Guardian. He'll challenge you to a duel, winner gets the Millenium Necklace. When you get the Item,Yugi sees a vision.Talk to Ischizu, and she'll say the Ring is at the Domino Pier. Then, the Puppeteer of Doom appears and challenges you to a duel.Beat him,and you get a video card.Sol Chevalsky(Reshef made Pegasus get a new identity)appears and challenges you to get every Millenium Item in time to stop Reshef's final ritual.Get in the boat, and you'll see Jean Claude Magnum trying to propose to Mai Valentine. She tells you to duel Magnum. After you dispose of him,Mai opens the vault guarded by two people.Beat the guardian there, and Yami Bakura appears.Joey wonders what's goin' on,and Yami Bakura explains that the Items carry memories of their previous holders.Go back to Ischizu, and she'll resurrect Slifer. You see a cut scene of this, too.I'm not sure of the order of the next three events, but i'll give 'em to ya.When you go to Canada, you'll feel a tremor, and go to Rex,beat him and the Guardian, and a memory of Marik will appear after you get the Rod.Go to Ischizu, and in the middle of a conversation, a bigger tremor than before occurs, and Ischizu warns that Reshef is getting stronger.Go to Italy, beat Bonz and the Guardian, and a Shadi memory appears after you get the Key.Obelisk is resurrected, but Kaiba takes it.Go to the Galapagos islands.Mako and Weevil can be found here.Go into the temple(hankies at the ready)and we see Yami Yugi taking the Scale. After a conversation, his cover is blown, and we see him as the clown-like dark side of Kaiba that the Pharoah beat. When you beat him,Shadi appears again.Ischizu tries to resurrect Ra,but Ra doesn't resurrect, and Slifer and Obelisk turn to stone. Then the Neo Ghouls takeover town.Gather your fellow duelists and run the Neo Ghouls outta town! When you find Bandit Keith,he demands that you give him the Millenium Items.Ya gotta do it,but Keith only suceeds in resurrecting the Sphere Ra.When you beat him,the Pharoah temorarily returns. Then Slifer kicks Ra's butt, which means you can use it again.Next Ra kills Keith, and you get Ra.Then Reshef throws negative energy into Keith for 10 seconds of life, and he used it wisely. He plays tug-of-war with the Puzzle and breaks it.Go to China to find Paradox. Then go to Egypt and duel Marik to prove you're worthy of Ra's power. If you're bored reading this, you're lucky,i'll stop here, even though there's more. The cards that come with this game are pretty good, although they can't be used in tournaments.Overall, the game is tough, challenging, and excellent.See ya!

People may that this game is crap but if you like to walk around in games and not just duel different people all the time this game is for you. This is just my opinion but this game is like the sacred cards. You walk around and challenge people to duel. Now that is better than the world tournement isn't it?

Actually not that bad...

Being a fan of the manga(and I've also seen the Memory Arc, which is cool. Also, it has Overlap, arguably the best anime opening ever), I actually decided to try this game out. It actually wasn't that bad. The story is an original one, unlike Sacred Cards which just retold the Battle City story arc, however, I feel that it does take a few ideas from the anime's Doma Organization storyarc. In it, something called the Reshef is threatening all of mankind. When Ishizu senses this, it's up to our main character, Yugi Mutou, and Katsuya Jonouchi(Joey in the English version) to save the day. Seto Kaiba also decides to save the world from this darkness, but in typical Kaiba fashion decides to do so on his own. But, long story short, the good guys must save the world by finding all seven of the Millenium Items to restore those famous God Cards. This includes the Millenium Puzzle, which has been stolen, which means that the other soul of Yugi, the Pharaoh, or Dark Yugi as he's often called, has gone missing. Fans of the series are really going to appreciate the game. It features tons of YGO eye candy, from appearances from most of the cast from Duelist Kingdom all the way to the end of the Battle City storyarc, and even a few characters from the manga pop up at times. The translation isn't actually that bad. Thankfully, there has been no mention of the infamous death and game of darkness(shadow game in English) coverup, the shadow realm, so far. Also, Yugi actually calls Dark Yugi the "other him," the way he does in the original version. This also marks the first ever YGO game in which fans get to use all three of the God Cards.

On a side note, the game opens a bit of questions up for me. The main character has the ability to use God Cards, plus he and Yugi see a major vision in the game. Leads me to wonder how he's tied in with Dark Yugi/The Pharaoh's Egyptian past...

Of course, even with all these touches, it doesn't matter if the gameplay is awful, although in series fashion it mainly involves the popular trading card game of Duel Monsters. It pretty much follows the typical card gameplay from both the series, which is much more simple than the real life one. However, some of the rules for the cards have been changed again, for example Kuriboh doesn't have any special effects this time around. The AI is also stubborn. While your opponent can often summon his best cards from the start, you will often find yourself drawing weak low-level cards, and not the ones you'd wish for. Also, one of the more irritating is the element system. This has one type of monster always beating another type. For example, cards that are Fire class always beats Grass class cards. So as other reviewers have said, it sure gets annoying when you summon a powerful monster with 2700 attack, and it gets axed by a monster with half that attack. This keeps the game from getting a better score.

Overall though, this game could use a bit of work, but it's actually not that bad. And with Yu-Gi-Oh mania still going strong(the new uncut dvds finally being released, both the Memory World and the Duelist manga being released by Viz, and the new expansion to the card game just coming out), it will no doubt mean that Konami will release many more YGO games in the future.

STUPID PEOPLE

You people are so stupid if you are just going to criticize the game don't even bother writing about it. Yes some of the restrictions stink but so what, make do. Sacred Cards had the same restrictions and i have beaten that game tons of times. I have not gotten this game yet though i asked for it for christmas, but if it's like sacred cards it has to be somewhat good. even if the restrictions are tough if you are truly good at yugioh you should be able to beat it with ease. You should use the restrictions and weak duelists' to your advantage. Stupid people try to win don't just take an hour and say i hate the game some games have boring beginnings and thats just the way it is!

Good Game, But Bad Rules

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 3

Overall its a good game, however there are some major flaws with the rules. There is now a hierarchy within the monster types (i.e. Water will always take out fire monsters etc). Although I understand these rules, I don't like them. I summoned a 2400 atk monster (including having to sacrifice 2 monsters as a tribute), only to have a 300 atk monster take it out. Good Idea but not that good. Maybe they should have given superior monster types only a 500 point bonus rather then it will always destroy it.

Plus its a very hard game to get a better deck. You are playing NPC's a plenty and only getting lots of rather pathetic cards.

All in all there is longievity but at what cost to the gamers sanity?
