As a Batman fan, I can let out a sigh of relief. I picked up this game on launch day and am I ever glad I did. The story, cutscenes, gameplay, and music are terrific. . .and the voices from the animated series, what more could you ask for. It is not without its flaws, but the feeling you get to finally be the Dark Knight the way he is meant to be outweighs any mishaps about the game. Well done Ubi-soft, my hat goes off to you. If you like games, buy this one!!

A much-maligned great game

This game is actually fun. I've read the other reviews and I felt that I had to rebut them. If you like games like Grand Theft Auto Vice City, then this game would be below average. If you are looking for a game that is simple and fun, much like the old-school beat 'um ups, then this is a great game. There are no complex puzzles here. And there are no vast cities or levels here. It's just button-mashing like the good old days. So if you feel the urge to do some button-mashing to forget a stressful day at work then this one's for you. If you're a fan of Batman, then you should get this game. It is simple fun.

Batman, the Dark Night sience 1940, has finally had a very comendable Gamecube Game. Not only is it based on the 1997 animated series "The New Adventures Of Batman", but also features classic characters such as Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Batgirl, and yes, you do get to fight The Joker.
The game starts out where you have to save a woman from The Joker's time bomb. The story heats up after there. You may find the first two episodes "A Girl To Die For" and "In Cold Blood" fairly simple, but it gets harder, much harder.
The coolest feature of this game is his Utility Belt Items. He has everything from remote charges, to Bateranges, to Bat Grapples (which looks awsome). When you use a utility belt item, you enter a first- person view (usually it is a third person view).
The controls are fairly simple to master (once you get used to how to use your Gadgets).
Batman, and all other characters are full 3-D motion characters. You can fistfight, glide in the air with your cape, freefall to save people, and run around full 3-D environments. And yes, you can drive the batplane and Batmobile.
If someone is shooting at you, but you are to close to exchange fists, Think Batman! Take out a baterang an wield it at the gun! The enemy will drop the gun and will no longer be able to be armed.
The game includes frequent movie clips that pop up between levels and look great! It is like watching the cartoon in 3-D!
Overall the game is great. Whether you're a Batman fan or not, i'm sure this game will please you.

Batman at his best

This is by far the best batman game ever. It is in no way little-kiddish. With a wide aray of powerful comboes and state of the art gadgets makes this a gamecube game worth getting. Its worth your money. For a video game this actually has a pretty clever plot. This game features villians such as the Joker and mr. Freeze. With both the police after you and the villians who framed you, your in for a lot of chaos. However it is a fairly short game with only 19 levels, it should keep you busy for a while.

Just as good as the cartoon is in every respect

Batman has appeared in quite a few video games over the years, and most of them have been rather horrible. This one on the other hand is fantastic. The graphics look similar to those of the cartoon series that ran for quite some time. The play control is also good, with an easy to learn system that can be somewhat awkward at times, but nothing too unmanageable. The sound and music is a real plus to this title though. The cast of the cartoon series voiced this game. Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamil as the Joker, who could ask for more. The game itself is full of aciton. Through the use of all of Batman's gadgets you can bust up crime in Gotham City all you want. Secrets are also hidden in each level, driving you to explore a bit more. This game is a true tribute to Batman.

Batman finally gets gaming justice

Whoa! The gameplay in this game is amazing, as well as the storyline, graphics, cinematics, and pretty much everything else. There have been many Batman games over the years, and in my opinion, this is the only one worth playing. I especially like the bat gadgets and A.I. cape(with gliding feature!) The animation and storyline reminds me a lot of the original Batman animated series in the early 90s, as if the creators and main writers worked on it. This is what Batman is all about!

This game is phat ...

If you want to know what your in for by buying this game then read the long review by CJ Clifford. He covers just about everything about the game you need to know, but a few of his comments are off basis. His comments about the controls are completely wrong. When you cycle through your numerous weapons you can freeze the action by holding down R, this prevents you from taking damage while choosing a weapon. As far as the first person and third person view controls, if you don't like these you can change the default in the control menu and save the new controls with your game.
The only real disappointents in the game are the controls for the batwing and batmobile. These don't use all of the buttons and as a result take alot of control away from you as you fly and drive them (for example: the batmobile has no brakes. There is nothing else this game lacks except more levels, I can't wait until Batman: Dark Tomorrow comes out.
