Another great sports game from SEGA !!!!

If you are a fan of Virtua Tennis, chances are you'd be into this game too. Sega knows how to make highly addictive sports games and Beach Spikers is no exception. Easy enough for a beginner to jump right in, but deep enough to keep you playing.

Fun

I enjoyed this game, once my computer-controlled teammate became good enough to compete with.

When you first start out in World Tour mode, your teammate plays really badly. As in, the ball hits her in the hands and falls to the ground. You pretty much have to resign yourself to losing every match for the first few stages. Even the weakest teams will beat you. Luckily, even when you lose, you rack up points which you use to improve your partner's abilities. I finally started enjoying the game once my partner got enough points to quit dropping the ball -- but it took a lot of playing (and losing) to get to that point.

I disliked the annoying announcer and wish there was an option where you could turn it off without disabling ALL of the sound effects.

I don't think you can edit hairdos or costumes on your created team, which is a downer. If you want to use any "new" costumes (which you earn by completing various tasks) you must start a brand new team. Which means you're stuck again with a computer-controlled partner who plays badly. If there's a way to edit your existing team, I haven't discovered it.

Despite the flaws, I'm really enjoying this game (especially now that I can beat some teams). The graphics are very good and the gameplay is excellent.

This game is going to be the death of me!

Oh my I can't believe how this game cheats, Im not kidding either, your computer partner will never set you up so you can spike the other team and get a point all she does is stand there i feel like im going to blow a gasket. It's basiclly you playing your hardest while your computer partner loses the game for you everytime,it's one of those games that has you sceaming why did i just blow $$ on this awful game because i am not having any fun screaming at my computer partner standing there watching the ball hit to her feet and doing nothing about it.
The only thing this game has going for it is the graphics and the beautiful ladies other than that this game is nothing but a headache(i have been playing the game on easy too). What really gets me is the computer opponents will let you get about two points right at first and then they just blow you away everytime,i am so sick of spending $$ on a game and the game is so hard that you can never advance in it.Bottom line if you have all the time in the world and especially all the patience in the world and don't get angry when you "know" your getting cheated, buy this game it would be perfect for you.

An excellent beach volleyball game

Personally, I found this game good enough to buy -- 4 stars may not be maximum but it's no gas bomb either. However, I felt there could have been more: more stages, more options, and more teams. It's possible that SEGA is holding out for a sequil. Next time, I think the sound options should be put in three categories: music, sound FX, AND announcer (he's so annoying). A female announcer would have been better too.
That being said, SEGA did a tremendous job in applying the physics and making a simple yet effective control scheme. Additionally there a circles indicating where the ball will land, so you don't have to rely on shadows or blind luck like previous volleyball games such as the unofficial Venice Beach game for the NES back in the days of 8 bits. Actually it wasn't so bad, but that's besides the point.
Even as a hater of sports games, I highly recommend this game to anyone (female or male) who likes intense, hard-hitting action four-player action with with an all-female cast. Some women may be offended by the skimpiness of the uniforms, but that's a small price to pay. Finally there is a women's sports game that does the gender justice.

Note: This is an ARCADE-style video game, not just because it debuted in the arcades, but because it's very "basic" like most arcade games are. I don't know personally, I've been told though, that there are many more rules to real volleyball than in this particular game.

Impressive so far.

Beach Spikers really does look like a lot of fun. Nintendo Power's review suggests that it plays like Mario Tennis. That's definitely a good thing. The graphics are great, the controls I've heard to be simple, and you can praise or cast out your team mate. What's more, it has three cool minigames and an awesome four player feature. Even the stadiums you play in are specially themed. What's more, the players are women in bikinis! What more can you ask for in a volleyball game?

Remember Super Spike V-Ball?

Alas, the gaming world has left this sport reasonably unexplored, but... this is the realization of the sport. From very simple controls, to a challenging game with many teams to choose from, and by the way, an extensive create a player mode, much like the Sega Sports Tennis Series. Participate in numerous tournaments around the world with real sponsors, and have a good time.

I'll be honest, I don't like to lose, and I lost the first 4 games I played. It's not as easy as anyone thinks. It's certainly worth the money though. If you buy this game for the girls, then well, that's what adult stores are for. If you want volleyball, the way the original Superspike V Ball wasy for Nintendo, then I would go out and get this one quick.

An ok game

This game is pretty fun. Yet sega spent all there time on sex appeal on the characters they forgot what the main point of the game was... volleyball.

This is game is alright. I played a sample of it. Graphics are not that good, and the gameplay is alright. If you like volleyball i guess i would recommend it for you, but it really isnt that good. Even thought they are two different kinds of games but if you are looking for a excellent game for Gamecube, i would say the best game is Enternal Darkness. It has everything.

The only good thing about this game is the characters, who are teams of babes in bikini. Sounds good huh? NOT!!! This game is about volleyball, problably the worst sport in the world. The graphics look great, but it doesn't bring much attention to me. If you want a horrible but babe game buy it!

WORST GAME ON THE GAMECUBE... EVER.

This is the WORST game I have ever played on the GC - which is sad since I'm a bit of a nintendo fanboy. I own every nintendo console that has been released in the U.S. - even the Virtual Boy. That said I have 37 Game Cube games at last count - and this is the worst I own. I gave it an honest try - >1 hour attempts on multiple occasions - but I just couldn't get into the game. The controls didn't make sense to me and the graphics weren't enough to hold my attention - even though some of the characters were "stacked." I only paid [...] for it used at Gamestop - and STILL felt ripped off.
