so far no good

My son just got this game as a gift - he is 5 years old. The game takes a long time to load. Very long time where we thought the disc was dirty or something else was wrong. I found a usenet post that discusses the same problem. I can't see my son having the patience for this.

Finding Nemo - finding patience!

As expected the game was full of wonderful underwater scenery with lots of colors that will keep a child interersted for hours and hours. However, the part that contributes to the hours is the waiting time for the next portion of the game to load. It seems to take a minute or two at times for the game to continue - wonder if it's my copy of the disc(?). Very annoying and very bad game design. However, because of the excitement of the movie and the cute nature of the characters, your child will wait....doesn't give the parents a needed break during the game breaks though!

Finding Nemo - for the Gamecube is a decent game
good graphics
good music, BUT the music very noticably loops with a full stop in between
the game isn't really for the younger kids
my 8 year old was able to play some of it, but mostly kept handing the controller to her mother and I for assistance
cute characters, even our cat likes to watch it
but the absolute worst part of the game?
the load time, horrible, horrible, horrible
you can literally go and grab a snack between loads
and you even have to wait for the game to load going back to the main game screen
So to summarize, music could be less "broken"
load time needs to be a TON better
and if it's truly for the younger kids, difficulty is a tad high
still decent game, overall

Good graphics, horrible gameplay

It appears that a lot of new games coming out based on movies are actually getting better and better (a good example is LOTR:The Two Towers), but unfortunately, Nemo is not one of them.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the loading times are utterly unacceptable - loading take so long it ruins the flow and story that the game is trying to tell us (Nemo and his dad trying to find their way to school). And the gameplay itself is horrible and unintuative. Trying to navigate a little clown fish through the depths of the sea is an effort in total luck and frustration - if you want Nemo to swim up, you must push down on the control stick, if you want Nemo to swim down, you must push up. This control scheme may be alright for flight simulator games, but in a game that kids that will be playing is alien, confusing, and bass-ackwards.
The only saving grace for this game is the graphics. They are indeed good. And it is neat to see and hear all the characters from the movie. But these cutscenes and voices from the movie are the only things that will hold a kids interest, because the game itself is deeply flawed. Caveat emptor!

Advice: Find Nemo foating at the top of the tank, and flush

Don't waste your money! My six year old played this game once (about 30 min) and lost interest...20 minutes of the 30 minutes were wasted waiting for the game segments to load (no, sadly, this is not an exaggeration). Whenever it seemed to get going there was disjointed dialogue, then another "load". I thought the game was broken when I tried to help him. It is THAT slow...

This game is terrible! My son purchased this game with his own money and was in tears when he realized what a "rip-off" it was. If you have seen the movie, you have seen the game. Basically, you watch the movie, and every few minutes the movie breaks so you can play a game. The problem arises during the 'loading' time. During the load time, all that is on screen is Nemo swimming on a black screen. We were so frustrated we timed the loading. It took a minimum of 2 minutes to load- the actual game only took 1 minute to play!!
I emailed the company (THQ) and they told me to exchange it. I brought it back to "Toys R Us" and they did exchange it. The second game was just as bad! I went back to Toys R Us and returned that one and explained the problem. I don't think they believed me, so they put the disc in the Gamecube they had at the store. When the saw how long it loaded they gave me a refund.
Final word. If you have patient children, they will love it. If you have normal children, they will hate it!

The loading time is too long and frustrates my child

My son is 6.5 years old and while he loves the adventure contained in the games, he is completely frustrated by the amount of time it takes for loading. The art work is beautiful but the game has a lot of technical glitches. I can't recommend it.

Stay away from Gamecube Version

I subscribe to IGN.Com which reviews games and they had a stunning article comparing the PS2 version of this game to the Gamecube version. It seems the PS2 version was the original version and the company that ported it to the Gamecube did a flawed job. They showed a side by side comparison of the graphics and it was astounding how washed out the Cube version looked. They also did a load time comparison and where the PS2 took 18 seconds to load, the Cube version took almost 2 minutes! ... So the washed out graphics and horrendous load times are not a disk problem, but a less then talented developer releasing a product to the public before it was completed.

Frustrating and boring!

My seven-year-old son played this game and became frustrated very quickly. The game takes FOREVER to load, and the loading happens between every segment of the game. So, you'll spend more time looking at the word "Loading" than you will playing the actual game (which is boring, anyway)! Don't waste your money on this clunker!

Please dont buy this game.

I did not believe the people that said the load times were so aweful and went out and bought the game for my 3 year old. Was I horrified at the absolutely long load times for every aspect of the game. On top of that the controls for Nemo are kind of difficult for young kids. If you dont believe me, just rent it and see for yourself. It is TERRIBLE.
