You need to play this game with 4 players

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 4 / 4

The only way to really have fun in this game is with 4 players.

When I first ripped open the game and turned on the cube, it's a very boring story in the beginning that you can't skip, since I didn't want to go through it again, I completed the first level by myself. It was hell, extremely boring.

I was actually thinking of returning it, I thought to myself to have 3 of my friends over that had Game Boy Advances, and GCN-GBA cables, so I phoned them up, oh god, I had such a blast!

With 3-4 Players this game is extremely fun and entertaning. You'll get near endless amounts of fun and replay value, most of the puzzles aren't as confusing as the Four Swords for GBA ones, and the action is better. However, choose your friends wisley, since they can hurt you by throwing you off pits, you can return the favor though, I did it countless times.

With 2 players the game is kinda... meh, OK... You won't get bored if you play 1-2 levels (3 if you're hyped, like sugar-high or something) but after that it's extremely tedious. You NEED a memory card for this game. Don't even THINK of playing this without one, since the saving feature is limited enough!

Like I said before, 1 player is horrible, and you should only try it once (the first level)

When you go into a house or something (in 2-4 player mode) your game will move to your GBA screen, it seems creative at first, but then it just gets to be a pain in the (BLEEP), since it is quite a pain while you're playing. (When playing 1 player, the GBA screen will overlap the TV screen, unless you're playing on a GBA, but why would you?)

GBA SP's can also be used BTW. Even more troubles: First of all, there usually isn't 4 item spots, where all 4 of you can get a specific item, so you usually have to fight over it, which is quite a hassle. Another trouble is that no matter how good you do, your "buddies" can just give you the "bad" rankings at the end of the game, making you lose points, so they can win, even though you helped them as best as you possibly could. Idiots.

A great addition to the game, even though it can be unfair, if you're bad at fighting in 2d zelda games, is Shadow Battle which is for 2-4 players, you CANNOT add bots to play alone.

You can use items in this mode, however the hidden stages are just "Dark World" variations, where there is a cirlce of light around you, with the exact same level. This is what you get for beating Hyrule Adventure? You gotta be kidding!

For the extra game Tera's Trackers, you need the Asia Import of this game, since it got ditched from the US version. Why? I have no idea. What a crafty marketing strategy. Not!

Anyways, buy this game at your own risk, if you are the type of gamer who's friends all have Xbox, you should not get this game, since I doubt they will all have GBA/GBA SP and GCN-GBA cables.

Even worse (Read it in the instruction booklet) Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DS Lite are not compatiable with any Linkup games, any type. Period. Which is really dumb and stupid, so you can't even PLAY multiplayer if you don't have a GBA SP or GBA.

Another crafty, idiotic marketing scheme. Ah well, wait for Twillight Princess, it arealdy came out for the WII
i'm shelling out for the GCN version.

Best Zelda yet!

This is an amazing Zelda game. Although it looks bad at first glance, this game is spectacular. the graphics are great believe it or not, because you can see reflections in the water and even the clouds shadow coming from above.
The gameplay is spectacular. theres elements from every zelda game and many loved character come back for this game (including all of the familiar races.)A bad thing however is that there is no more free roaming to the next area. Once you beat a level, you go to a "level select" screen and go to you next destination.
The story line starts out as Hyrule is getting really dark. Zelda tell you that her and the 6 Shrine Maidens are going to see if the seal on the Four Sword is strong enough. they open the portal to go there, and Shadow Link appears, and tricks you into pulling out the Four Swords. Now the evil wind Sorcerer Vaati, who was sealed within the sword, is unleashed and captured the Maidens and Zelda. Now, as 4 Links, must rescue them and use them to open the way to Vaaiti's palace. But as you progress through the game, you will relize someone more evil is behind this conflict...
The multiplayer is by fare the best part. You can do adventure mode co-op or do a Zelda death match called Shadow Battle. Shadow battle is the best part of the game because there is so many things going on at once and there are so many items to use (bow and arrow, rocs feather, sligshot, pegasus boots, bombs, and more) and you can set off traps to damage your friends.

This is one of the best Zelda games, but the only downside is that it's really short. It could be beat in a weekend if you play it constantly. But I still highly recomend you buy this because the replay value is very high because there are a lot of memorable levels that are worth playing over and over.

I love this game. me and my friends all went in on it, and we stayed up one night playing it non-stop (thanks goodness we're dumb so it takes a while to solve puzzles). T he graphics, story, competition, and coop is perfect. I love how you go into a cave or house and it appears on your gba.

this game is a must have, unless you have like a spare week to play it, just rent it.

Easy, but fun while it lasted

I just finished the Four Swords Adventure and I enjoyed playing it for the most part. I only found two parts of the game challenging, but once the puzzle was solved I realized that it wasn't as hard as I was making it. The game is extremely linear and I found that to be very annoying. However, it was still fun to play for a half an hour here and there.

WONDERFUL!

This is the most fun I've had in a LONG time. Lots of fun, very easy to play. I played with 2 people but if you can get 3 or 4 people, even better. Great use of the Game Boy connectivity. Would be something great for families since both kids and adults will enjoy this game. You can't go wrong with a Zelda game!

This is just one of those games you got to have!

I can assure you this new Zelda game will make a great big splash when it comes out on June the 7th, it will be the first ever multyplayer Zelda game that you can play on the Nintendo Game Cube!!!!!As i just said it will have a multyplayer mode and a solo mode too so now you can finaly experience the fun and glory of a Zelda game with your friends, but if you'll want to play this game in multyplayer you'll need 1game boy advance with 1game link cable for each player, you'll be able to hook up to 4 players. So remember if you like adventure games and multyplayer games too this game is right for you!

GBA link system better than usein the Internet in my opinion

As an huge Zelda fan, I can say this is one of the best in the series, but thats my opinion. A Link to the Past and Wind Waker are my favorite and this pretty much combines the two. Its a bit differnt from any of the other Zelda games though in that this time, there are four Links and you need to use all of them to solve puzzles and fight together agaisnt lots of enemies. Its not a very deep story like some of the others they've been coming out with recently but it is still excellent none the less for what it is. 6 maidens are kidnapped along with Zelda by Dark Link and some Wind God and you have to go rescue em (duh). Upon accepting the quest and drawing the sword, Link is split into 4 Links, thus the quest begins.

This game is pretty fun played alone, but it is MUCH better played with 4 players (or at least 2). The only thing that bites about that is you can only play multi-player if you have enough GBAdvances for everyone and a link cable for each. But if you have all the equipment, its well worth it. I personaly like this system better than the internet games because the internet games cost so much and are a big hassel, and I dont play much anyway. GBA are a one time fee and just about everyone has one anyway so its not that hard to find someone play with. Anyway, the TV screen plays kind of like the over world. You walk around with your friends attacking enemies and collecting Force Points. The GBA is like your personal screen for whenever you break off and go into a cave, fall down a hole, or enter a house etc. Then when you come back out, you are back on the TV screen in the overworld.

Now I gave this 5 stars but dont expect this to be the next big Zelda game. Its not. Dont expect Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, etc. Think LttP with four Links. Also, it doesnt exactly follow the traditional Zelda formula. You can only pick up one item at a time (ie boomerang, fire rod, arrows etc.) and your heart containers start over at the beginning of each level section. Yes, this one has levels. Each level has a number of sections and Im guessing each full level takes about an hour or two to complete. The game is also pretty short by most game standards but for me its just perfect cause I really dont play that much anyway.

The graphics look cheap but they're not. Its pretty much WindWaker and LttP graphics together and there are alot of cool effects here and there that happen.

The other cool thing about the game is, say you play with your friends one day and then decide to play by youreself the next. When you load your game, it always asks how many are gonna play so youre not tied down to keeping the same amount of players everytime you play.

After Demoing at E3 I can saw it's just WOW!

I demoed this game at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2004 this past week and can safely say that it is great. I was okay on GBA but the GCN is going to be great. The graphics are fun, they have a throwback to the old days while the sound effects and explosions and such are all from Wind Waker. The control of the four Links in single player is great as well, you have many different tactacle formations randing from a sweeping line that will wall your enemies with attacks to a defensive square that allows you to attack and defend in all 4 directions. This game is great.

BTW (...) Thanks be to you.

Absolutely Awesome - if you have 4 Gameboys

If you know no one else with a gameboy advance - this game is just ok. However, If you DO have friends that have gba's then this game is really awesome and a ton of fun. The multiplayer aspect is really neat. The other downside is the graphics are pretty bad - but that's because it has to work with the gba.

Not up to par as far as Zelda games go...

Normally, Zelda games are fascinatingly brilliant. An excellent plot, brain-frying mysteries and puzzles, and surprises thrown in the mix are what makes the Legend of Zelda series both amazing and unique. Unfortunately, this particular title has none of the above. The plot was extremely thin, thanks to the lack of originality that is generally standard in the series. Every character was either taken directly from a previous game or are recycled and remodified characters that have already existed. Even the music was unoriginal.
I was upset at the ease of the situatons that were supposed to involve thought to continue foward. These situations were not only few and far between, but those that did exist can, for the most part, be easily solved by a six year old. I have long gotten used to trying method after method of attempting a problem before getting it right. Here it was not necessary, and I truly missed the brain teasers.
On another note, every single element, cut-scene, and event was far too predictable. I found myself consistantly getting bored by guessing accurately what was going to happen next and when. The Zelda series, up until this point, has never been flawed by this horrific pitfall, and the fact that it did has ruined the games potential considerably. I really missed the surprises that I found in Windwaker, and Ocarina of Time, and now that I think on it, every other Zelda game that I've played.
For those of you who have never played any title of the Zelda series except for this and were truly unimpressed, I highly recommend giving the series a second shot. This game is only one flop in over fifteen years of gaming, and unless this genre of game is not for you, I can personally guarantee that you will not be disapointed, I have played nearly every Zelda game under the sun, and this title was the only one in the entire series that truly disapointed me.
