This is more of a collectors item for fans than a master peice game.

Many people are fans of the anime show Naruto, but this game is a let down to the television show. The graphics aren't that bad, though. It gives the look and feel of the anime. If only it can give the length of the anime, also. The sound is okay, but the characters end up repeating the same lines every time and it gets irritating. It's overall value isn't long. It contains half the modes a standard fighter has and nothing new. The story mode is short. The gameplay is good and filled with action, it's just that you will be sitting down playing the same short and lacking modes. Did I mention there were only 10 characters?

To sum it up, if you are a die hard fan you will get this, but you will have a bitter taste in your mouth playing it.

Pros: Nice cel shaded anime look and feel ; Good gameplay

Cons : Shortage of modes and characters ; story is very short.

Great Concept, But Better Off Getting Later Sequels.

For kids and those following the US anime version of Naruto, this game will be enjoyable. The character models and move list are true to the anime. For Teens, Young Adults, and Mature Gamers, you're better off holding out for Naruto 2, 3, or 4.

With each new version, additional characters and modes are added which really enhance the gaming experience and add greater depth to a somewhat simplistic game engine. Naruto 1, for instance, has only a handful of characters. Naruto 2 builds on Naruto 1, Naruto 3 builds on Naruto 2, and Naruto 4 builds on Naruto 3. If you are a fan of the Japanese manga/anime, Naruto 1 would be difficult to stomach.

If you can wait, or would be willing to import the newest version of the Gamecube Naruto game (currently at #4 at www.lik-sang.com), I would strongly suggest that. Online guides and translations are available at www.gamefaqs.com to assist anyone who does not understand Japanese. As this is a fighting game, the Japanese language doesn't prove to be an insurmountable barrier to enjoying this game. However, as kids will get easily confused, I would only suggest the "import" route for older gamers.

Anyway, if you absolutely must have this game, by all means purchase it. If you can wait a few months until Naruto 2, I would suggest doing that. If you would like to have the most recent rendition of this game, importing would be the best option. However, you would also need to purchase the $15.00 "Free Loader" disc for your gamecube in order to load the import (as well as any other import titles, should you choose to purchase more GC imports). This could run you anywhere between $70.00-$80.00, but you would have a version that may never see a US launch.

Wait for naruto 2

the naruto gamecube series are good games (at least the japanise versions are), however, this instalment of the naruto series is seriously lacking and i recomend (even if you are a naruto fan) to skip this one out, save up for naruto 'clash of the ninja' 2 when it is translated and pick up this game when it is going cheap

the amount of charecters and modes are poor and are not very good:

due to the time of original making,it only has charecters from the zabuza ark and hardly any of them are playable.

story mode will only take around 15-20 minites if you skip the story part and arcade mode is fun the first few times, but gets boring very fast.

the good points of the game are its graphics, the game looks wonderful in its cel shaded style and looks just like it jumped out the comic.

the gameplay is basic, yet perfect and gamers of any experiance level can play easily and with a press of the 'X' button, you can activate your screen filling super move.

Multiplayer is what saves this game as it is great fun to play against your friends, the multiplayer is what really adds to the lifespan of this game. however, the lack of charecters and the fact that only 2 can play brings this down.

its a great game still, however, if you are a naruto fan and don't want to be disapointed, i recomend you skip this one, save up your money and buy naruto (clash of the ninja) 2 as it has 4 player, unlockable stages and modes, more options and charecters (over twice as many as this instalment), a longer story mode and lasts much longer than this instalment.

in conclusion, Naruto clash of the ninja (or naruto GNT in japan) is a good game and if you see it cheap, you should buy it, however, if you hold on longer, naruto 2 will be translated and it is a so much better game.

naruto clash of the ninja is brought down to its lack of life span which is vastly improved in later instalments

Not a bad game, but the sequels are worth waiting for.

Clash of Ninja is the first Naruto GCN fighting title, but it was released a few years ago originally, when the Japanese naruto anime was just getting started. As such, only eight characters made it into the game, going up to the Zabuza/Bridge story arc.

Don't get me wrong, this is an enjoyable game, and a terrific rental choice. The colors and animation are vibrant and true to the anime. The voice acting varies (prepare for a LOT of "Believe it!), with the incomparable David Blum as Zabuza. The specials and crazy moves keep matches exciting and unpredictable, and the fighting engine is easy enough to get into.

But for $40, it would be a better idea to hold off until this fall sees the US release of Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2. The sequel massively improves on the shortcomings of this first game, boosting the character count to 23 and adding a four-player mode, making it much more party-friendly.

More adventurous consumers would be advised to import Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 (essentially Clash of Ninja 4). It's undoubtedly the best GameCube game since Resident Evil 4, and the best fighter/party game since Super Smash Bros. Melee. Since GNT4 goes all the way till about episode 135, it's unlikely that it'll see US release before the US anime gets to that point, which could take two years. By then, it's unknown if GCN games will still be produced. The only downside about GNT4 is that US GameCubes won't play the game normally. You'll need to either modify your GCN (experts only), or just buy a cheap Freeloader disc that allows you to play imports without risking your GCN.

GNT4 hosts over 30 characters and dozens of locales from the anime, and it also adds a great new "Three-Man Cell" mode that's a blast to play, adding a new layer of strategy and uber-awesome team specials.

In closing: Clash of Ninja is a mediocre start to a great games series. Rent it, but only Naruto completists should buy.

Great fighter but get Naruto 2 instead

Naruto Clash of Ninja is the first game. It has a simple story mode and a small roster of playable characters (about 10) for real value of the game which is the multiplayer.

Naruto 2 Clash of Ninja is the second game. It starts with the same story as what the first game had but continues much further beyond. Also the voice acting, graphics, dialog, presentation, menus, etc are all improved from the first game. The gameplay is mostly the same but more refined and lots of game modes are added including 4-player multiplayer. The roster of playable characters is also increased to over 20 and the additional fighters provide a lot more diversity to the fighting game.

Basically Naruto 2 has everything the first game has including the first ones story and all playable characters from the first as well as tons of new stuff so if your considering getting this game... than do yourself a favor and get the second one.

I am not saying this first game is bad... it is just obsolete after the release of the second one.

Overall, this is a good game but I would wait until Naruto 2 unless you're a huge Naruto fan.

Good Points:

1. I like the graphics, it feels as if the cartoon really jumped into my TV screen.
2. The two player is phenomenal.
3. The controls are easy.

Bad Points
1. There are only 8 characters in the game
2. The story mode shuld take you like 10 minutes.
3. If you are a hard core gamer, he controls are too easy.
4. Each player only has one special move.

I suggest waiting until Naruto 2 comes out, but if you can't, get it. This is'nt a bad game or a great one but it's really fun with two people. If you can buy Naruto: Clash of Ninja, you should.

OK I guess.

Naruto Clash of Ninja is, the american version of the ever popular Naruto Genkito Ninja Taiesen of which I have all. If it is anything like the Japanese version It will be an adventure that covers about the first 30 episodes of the anime, It also will have a 2 player verses mode. Personally the only reason I bought this game was to play as Zabuza and aku because they are not in any of the other games. If you don't mind not playing as those two than wait for naruto clash of ninja 2 which has a much better story and 4player melee combat and of a ton of new characters.

4/5 STARS overall: This game's gameplay is off the charts and has no end to the furios fun. There is only one flaw which is very obvious, THERE ARE ONLY A FEW CHARACTERS. I said it once and I will say it again 4/5 stars overall together... Gameplay: 8.5/10 Graphics: 9/10( for a GC Game it is cool) Entertainment: 9.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10
