Not what I hoped for

I haven't seen Robotech on TV, I don't own the videos, but I thought I would give the game a chance. The graphics seem to be off, but I can't quite put my finger on what exactly is off about them. The gameplay is monotous, and after a while, I really didn't even care if I completed the game or not. Control is not the best in the world as the layout changes from mode to mode to mode to mode, and you have to change from mode to mode to mode to mode. It just doesn't offer anything new, what is the same in this game is not done as well as in other games, and it seems like the Gamecube hardware was just not used as well as it could, or even should, have been.

Not much Cel-Shading

People said there would be cel-shading.What!?I don't see any except for the explosions and black out-line on buildings and stuff but not any fighters. For me,this game is extremely boring, espicially the two player mode.Except for a few space battles and big city battles.I can't believe I wasted so much money on this game without renting it.For now on I believe everyone should rent before they buy.I'm not any fan of the Robotech series so that is why I don't like this game alot.
Trust me,whoever says that this game is one of most exiting and best games they ever played, they are totally crazy or they never played a 3D action game before.

Rent it

this game is okay, the graphics is the cell shading crap but that makes sense in a game like this. cell-shading does not make sense in a zelda game (wind waker)............Rent it

As Good As It Gets I Guess

Well the reviewers are right. This is probably the best it's gonna get for now, so if you like the series, definitely play this one. The missiles are fun and the jet mode is amazing but it all gets old fast. The missions get monotonous and, even though their are three modes which sounds like endless fun, that too gets old fast. To me and my opinion, more types of weapons and more styles of veritechs, not just paintjobs either whoop-te-do, would have made the game more interesting.

The way adaptations should be

It is hard for me to put down this game as some do, as I have never seen a good version of Robotech ever. This game not only looks like the anime, but speeds through like it as well. As a Veritech fighter you dodge fire, while being chased by tons of missiles. You transform into all three modes of the Veritech at speeds equivalent to the show and have the exact same capabilities (for those who complained that there weren't major modifications to the fighters).

TDK worked exhaustively to bring realism to the fans. How many games get the original voice actors to use their talents for a video game? And at that, actors who worked on a show 15 years ago? How many games make sure the original score was included, a cost that could have raised the price of the game?

It is true that TDK needs to pay more attention to detail when it comes to landscape, however they did an excellent job for a freshman attempt. This game blended realism of the show, such as buildings exploding by stray missiles and camera angles which would rival the original anime, illustrated screenshots like the program and narratives, again emulating the show.

Buy this game. If you are a fan you will take part in an awesome adventure and look forward to The Next Generation in TDK's "Robotech:Invasion", coming soon!!

A great game, with a few glitches.

At first this game may only appeal to those who have watched the revered Robotech anime series, but anyone in need of a solid action shooter should consider buying this game.

When first played, it is hard to get a hold of controls, and the tutorial mode doesn't quite provide enough training, but it all comes in do time. Being a game ported from the PS2 version, controls are expecting to be a bit faulty, but once you get used to them, there is little to complain about. As the game progresses so do your skills, and the more you play, the more intense the action becomes.

Overall the game is well done, but there are a few glitches here and there, such as your veritech dissapearing, or the whole game may freeze (very rarly though). It seems like the more i played the game that less glitches became apparant. The only other draw back is the lack of weapons, but it merely stays true to the anime series.

Keep in mind that the level become very challenging, but there is always a way around every situation, and everyone developed there own strategies to solve them which is a major appeal of the game.

If anime is your thing, this game is a must buy.

it's finally here

Finally they bring us the Robotech game we've all been waiting for. I was so very dissapointed at the cancelation of crystal dreams for N64. Now they finally give it to us, and man it's excellent . The graphics are amazing. I am extremely happy to see the cellshadig since this is a game from, lets face it, the best anime of all time. The gameplay is extremley fun but does get repetitive and tedious at times. The music is amazing. The only reason this game doesn't get 5 stars is because of the extremely annoying things that the main character says during gameplay. But seriously, BUY THIS GAME, it must be a miracle. WOW!

Awesome

Anybody that is and was a rpbptech fan will absolutely love this game. However those who aren't familiar with the series, will also love it. It has great controls(gaurdian mode is a little slugish), gerat graphics, and a good storyline. The game also offers a good challenge once you get deeper into the 46!!! missions. Definitely buy this one

A great game of fairly limited appeal...

I am a full out Robotech fan. There was no denying that I would go out and buy this game when the chance came along. And I do not in the slightest regret it.

Robotech is formed around the beloved Veritech fighter, a transfroming fighter that serves on the ground, in the air and in the space above. And it isn't the easiest thing to fly. Controls will take some getting used to but within a week, you will be morphing so fast and flying so aggressivly, people watching will be afraid of you. Having played this on an X-Box and on a Gamecube, I was forced to admit that the Gamecube had a much better set up for its controller (yah us!). Graphics were not any different.

Gameplay itself is fun and exciting but with time it will become duller. There are two main weapons and the only thing that changes it the fighter's speed and manuverability. Missions are well planned and fun but you will get to the end fast if you try. The unlocking of things is also great fun but again, besides color schemes and a few different VTs, there's not much here. The ability to drive the Destroids in the game would have been nice...

In the end, Robotech is a must have for any fan of the series because it is the best and some might say only game that has accurately portrayed Veritechs. But the average gamer may soon find that they are bored and want their fifty dollars back.

Extremely Hard
