moderately good at first but gets boring in a few hours. Very disappointing!!! A disgrace to the makers of the game!

I can't believe all the great reviews. I guess the developers come in here and write reviews to promote their lousy game so people will buy it! The graphics were a bit disappointing, there is no level progression, some levels start with an AI opponent that all but prevents you from getting your castle started. It's too difficult to select your own units, when you click on enemies to attack it gives a move command but not an attack command. You have to keep clicking over and over... same problem when trying to attack buildings. Basically, the game [lacks]. It's a good idea though so I gave it a 2. Hopefully next time the artists will spend more time building good art, the coders will build a faster graphics engine (which doesn't require a 2GHz machine to display their bitmaps), and the units will have larger selection boxes (so you can click to attack them). It would also be nice if you could rotate your maps smoothly, not at fixed 90 degree turns (the technology has been around for a while guys) it's not that hard to put together.

If you are really starving for another real time strategy, and are ready to pull out some hair in frustration, then this is the game for you.

FUN BUT WHERE IS THE PLOT

I played the first stronghold and was very happy whith it,it had a good plot and fun levals. This one has ok levals even though they all are the same but with a differn't bad guy to fight. The other thing is were is the story plot like in the old one were the people talk to you before and afer each leval and tell you what's going on,rather than just playing a bunch of levals for no reason at all were is the fun in that.

Not too fun like it seems.......

This game is not fun after a while. If you really like stragedy games I will recomended but if you want to go to action right away or built giant armies this game is not for you. This game is mostly about castle builing, you built everything for example if you want armor you have to make an iron mine. After a while it gets the same and you get bored really quicly. The campaign sucks, its better if you do the missions instead.

For an expansion this game is a must have if you liked the original Stronghold. There was A LOT more game play in this expansion than I thought there would be. On the down side the campaign has no real plot but it was still fun to play. I am glad I bought it.

The world famous castle sim is back!

If you have ever played Stronghold you probably have a good idea about the sequal already. I do recomend you get the 1st original stronghold first because it will teach you everything you need to know to stand a chance in crusader. Here...I'll list some improvments that Firefly Studios introduced in Crusader. In the original Stronghold it was always a castle verse an army, armies. But Crusader really improves on this and has placed 2 castles on a map. The computer will also build up an economy and send troops at random to attack your castle. Also the buildings have a new cool look. And the ballista's from the original Stronghold are now mounted up on wheels and towers! Being in the desert you have to supply water to your people. Much more impressive and even looks better on the computer screen than the original Stronghold. I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 because you will get tired of it eventually. When this happens wait a couple of days and start thinking about what your new castle will look like. You'll be back on it for another non-stop year.

Good Game

Stronghold: Crusader, the follow up to Stronghold, does a good job fixing things that did not make sense in the first game, and bringing a whole new look to the second version. The idea for battling in new terrain is excellent. The challenge is to fight for every spare inch of irrigated land for your food, without it you are dead. The new units such as Arabian Horsemen and Fire-Throwers are excellent. One pick with this game is why is there no level selection? You can only play on one level, and on the first version you could choose between many different levels of difficulty. Also, there should be an easier way to look at the entire playing field instead of just being able to turn on 90 degree angles for viewing. But overall, this game is done well and you will be playing for hours. Almost a perfect comination castle simulation and city/economy simulation. B+

If you don't have anything to do for the next couple of months, get this game! It's fun, it's addicting. The graphics are great, the music is annoying after the first 20 minutes. It's challenging and a decent waste of time.

Greastest strategic game EVER!!
