I second the warning!

Got this game home, installed it fine, but it gives me an error message when I try to start telling me that the shader is not right. May be a fun game; apparently only hard-core gamers or those with an XBox, PS2, etc will find out though!

Fun Game but annoying little things

First of all I will say that the game is lots of fun, if you are willing to cope with trial-and-error gameplay. There are tons of gadgets and if some of you are worried about not having goggles then heres the deal. Ironically, after you throw your goggles out the helicopter after hearing Sam's daughter is dead the JBA gives you an identical pair. You will not get the goggles on the JBA HQ missions or in the prison of Africa (where you get strange aviator type sunglasses which you toggle on and off like night vision). The scope in very fun to use and it even has it's own integrated Night vision, heat vision, and EMP (electro magnetic pulse) vision. The sam's visibilty meter is now a green (total darkness), yellow (visible yet undetected), and red (detected) light. There are so many new gadgets but now I will tell you the major downfalls. This game forced me to spend around $900 to buy a new processor, motherboard, and a video card at half price from a friend. Frankly, Ubisoft have formatted this to work with SM 2.0 which will probably cost them lots of money. Also I have heard (but I cannot be considered reliable) has announced they will not release a patch to fix this problem. In any case the game also has some wierd glitches but I won't go into details since they are very unnoteworthy. The only other annoying thing is that, if you want to get the good upgrades, then you have to go totally undetected the whole game. Mainly I rated this 3 stars overall because of the really annoying system requirements. Last thing I would like to say is, if you have a computer that will run this game, buy it since it is probably one of the best Splinter Cell's ever.

What a piece of s***t!!!

One star is actually too generous but Amazon won't let me rate it at zero.

Splinter Cell use to be a great series but Ubi-Shanghai took care of that. Between muliple crashes, sound looping that lasts entire levels, saved games not showing up, and video settings not being saved the PC version is completely unplayable. And yes my PC meets the and exceeds the requirements. All good that did me!

Thanks Ubi-Soft for taking a once great gaming experience and flushing it down the toilet.
Save your money and time do not buy!!!

Next Gen Game Bugged

It's round four of the Splinter Cell saga and Ubisoft has definitely stepped Splinter Cell Double Agent up in both, graphics/gameplay and bugs.

This game is plagued with numerous bugs. Let me let you know now that my computer meets and exceeds all of the minimum requirements. With the release of the game, Ubisoft released a patch v1.01. This patch did nothing to help with the graphics and crashes many gamers are having including with me. At the time of this review, v1.01 was the latest patch out. I have a nVidia video card and the game requires that you change your graphics settings before playing which creates a real hassle when switching between games. The game also has a tendency to crash on game exit. When it does crash, you lose your saved checkpoints and have to continue at the beginning of the mission you were on.

On the bright side though, Double Agent has remarkable graphics (once you have corrected them) and gameplay. Many gamers will have to upgrade their video cards to those that utilize Smart Shader 3.0. After this has been accomplished, the graphics are astounding. One very new distinctive feature of Double Agent is the double objectives. There are quite a few missions where you are in Joe Brown's Army's (JBA) headquarters trying to sneak past their members to achieve objectives for the NSA without being caught. In other missions, there are dual objectives but they can be achieved a little easier than at headquarters. Other than this, gameplay is mostly like how it was in Chaos Theory with all of the stealthy moves back in action.

Overall, this game is a must for gamers and/or a Splinter Cell fan. If you can wait, please wait until Ubisoft releases a patch that fixes the bugs I have mentioned. Also, remember the video card with Smart Shader 3.0 as Ubisoft has not mentioned a patch to work with Smart Shader 2.0 or below.

I bought this game for my husband for his birthday -- his request. He hasn't stopped playing it. He loves it!

A solid 4th installment in the Splinter Cell franchise

The game play is breathtaking as are the graphics on a powerful gaming rig. I'm running dual nVidia 7900GTX's and an AMD FX-57 and this game is mesmerizing. I really appreciate some of the new features such as the new zoom mode and the ability to more realistically hold your breath to stabilize and take a shot. The new weapon system spices the game play up and the ability to interact with the environment more smoothly than before is the best feature yet. Voice acting is superb as are the scripted character motions like the underwater kill moves and the pipe crawling. This is a very strong addition to the Splinter Cell franchise of which I already own all previous games for the PC.

It is a great game for adults (for you liberals out there that means over 18 and out of mommy and daddy's house).

Este juegos es excelente, pero la seguridad que posee el disco DVD es muy problemática. Tuve que Crackear un Juego Original para poder usarlo sin problemas.

i ran it on a dell dimension e510 with 1.5ghz of ram, radeon x1300, and pentium D dual core 2.8ghz processor and i didnt get very many problems with it besides the sound issue with my sound card in a couple spots. and the only thing that ever wouldnt work was when you are about to go down and disarm the bomb.

My processor feels like a whipped pony now

I played this with 1 gb memory,an MSI dedicated card,80 gb hard drive and and very angry celeron 3.2 processor that feels like a whipped pony trying to race on Churchill Downs with the big guys.It ran a great race and I'm proud of it.I had Vista installed and had no problem. You really need a good system to play this game. I tried to play it with integrated ATI EXPRESS 200 and could n't load up. I would always crash and get a windows graphics error message. The problem was I didn't have shader3.0 .The msi took care of that and also helped vista aero graphics. The game itself is pretty good. For the price I paid for it it's a good buy and I would play it again. The game takes up 10 gb of hard drive space. I played it on an 80 gb hard drive with no problem but I would advise using a larger hard drive. It's a good game but demands a great computer.Don't knock Celerons as junk. It did the job although a Pentium would have been better.
