Graphics: 10/10
-awsome graphics

Sound: 10/10
-this game is all about the sound, everything looks so realistic nad the music score is excellent

Gameplay: 10/10
-even though their is no blood the creators put in great weapons and realistic reloading

This is one of the best WW2 games for the Xbox
I give it 5 out of 5 stars

If you're comparing this to the PC version, stay away.

Call of Duty on the PC is one of my favorite MP games. I was extremely excited when it came out for xbox because I could finally play my friends at home. Wait...it only works for xbox live and not for 2-4 players unless you have a system link! This defeats the purpose of Call of Duty, the best feature is it's MP. First off, the single player mode is a sham, it sucks graphically and also controller wise. The controller is slow to respond and the levels are much more Counter-Strike (xbox) graphically than anything else, in other words outdated. You can't fully adjust your controller (such as halo) and did I mention the graphics suck? I am more than aware that Xbox can't really compete with a PC for graphics but activision has to live up to the expectations a PC game brings to another platform. The MP is absolutely horrible. The game play is just unnatural and sad. If you are expecting a real Call of Duty game, keep waiting.

Beautiful graphics and not much else.

I am a casual FPS gamer and felt like having some fun with an older title. So I picked up Call of Duty because I kept hearing how great this game was. At first glance the game was very beautiful. Very similar to Medal of Honor with a lot going on to overwhelm your senses. I liked the fast pace gameplay and crazy action going on everywhere.

Unfortunately this novelty wore off way too fast. The game gets extremely intense very fast and it is easy to get lost in all the action. The levels are linear but when battles are screaming on you can lose your bearings and targets very easily. The controls also are pretty clunky which I thought was odd. The Xbox controller is perfect for fast paced games but in CoD I found aiming to be a constant frustration. Couple this with exceptionally HORRIBLE allied A.I. and your in for a major curse fest. I have never seen such a blatant misuse of allied characters in a game.

For instance in one of the first missions you must protect a tank stored in a warehouse while Germans swarm from all over with rifles, machine guns, and Panzerfaust. Sounds pretty exciting so far... Well, once you get to the second story windows the fun begins. Germans swarm out and take cover behind crates and vehicles. Your job is to snipe them before they get too close. The key targets are the bazooka men and the machine gunners. Let a bazooka in and the tank is doomed. Let a machine gun set up and your toast. Well it sounds easy enough and you have good ol' Commissar Sokolov to bark orders at you and where you need to concentrate your fire. Here's the rub. Sokolov's orders sometimes give you plenty of advance warning to set up where you need to be and to get the crucial targets. But later in the battle he starts rattling them off at lightning speed. Good thing you have several AI soldiers covering you right. Wrong. As far as I can tell all these guys are for is to get in your way when you are trying to duck in a window. They must know how much I enjoy getting pelted with hot lead while reloading my 5 round single shot bolt action sniper rifle.

This causes a tedious nature of repetition in the game. You are an army of one among many. AI never serves any point but to bark orders at you and get shot. In that same very mission I must have had to replay it at least half a dozen times on EASY just to get the hang of it down. Once I finally bested the pesky German attack I was immediately gunned down outside the building in the second stage of the mission. Not to worry, I'll just continue from the end of the last objective right... WRONG!

CoD offers nothing in the way of in-game checkpoints. That meant when I left the factory after having so much fun getting shot and laughed at by my comrades, I had to, yup!, do it all over again! Wow talk about gamer satisfaction! And what the heck was the insanely realistic reload times! Especially on the sniper rifle. It takes at least a good 5 seconds to reload the thing and when you have to hit a target as fast as possible the game won't let you reload just one round. You always have to reload 5.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for challenging games, but I am a casual gamer and don't want to replay a lever 20 times. A game like that will only frustrate me to resell the game at a drastically discounted price. What truly enrages me about CoD is that the game is ridiculously hard on EASY so I can't even handicap the game to help me through the tough parts. Add in the fact that Xbox has virtually no cheat codes for like invincibility I guess I am going to have to go all gamer-geek on this one and actually try and master an FPS. A skill I have no desire to learn.

So my advice is for the casual gamer or those who actually like to have fun playing a game. If you must play a WWII shooter pick up Medal of Honor or something else with not as steep a learning curve. This game is clearly designed for hard core players who have little else to do but replay a mission all day long.

A good game, with some flaws.

I want to start off saying that this is a fun game, full of action and lots of fun. The graphics could improve, but, non-the-less, the battle scenes are relatively realistic, and the game is challenging.

Aspects of this game need serious work, the Russian tank for instance has awful controls! There are some times when you can't figure out what to do, and that can be a little annoying. There is a ton of action and a lot of different stuff to do. You alternate between being Russian, British, and American.

The reason I rated this four stars, not five, is because I started to compare it to Halo, so I took off a star. This is a fun game, but it's not like Halo 2!!

WWII at its best

After beating Return to castle wolfenstein, it keft me wanting more hardcore WWII action. Call of Duty is the answer. Play from 3 point of views, the Russians, Americans, and English. The levels are filend with nonstop hardcore action. You get a great variety of guns and gameplay is excellent!

Fun, exciting realistic and you do not want to stop!

If you don't mind being a Russian soldier and like battle field fighting nonstop, Then this is the game for you. The graphics are great, lots of action and even a good story line to go with the game. The game is set in WWII and you are fighting against the Germans. I recommend that you turn up the volume put on the sorround sound if you have it and go back 60 years and be apart of the WWII experience that your grandfather or great grandfather talked about.

My Uncle gave me this for Christmas this year and it was one of the first things I used. I thought the graphics were phenominal, as well as the plot, weapons, and detail taken to the locations and soldiers. I love playing this game and look forward to a sequal perhaps. If you don't have this game, and am interested in World War II, I suggest you get it ASAP.

unbileveable, you will die when you play it . oh yeah ride the horse baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great game. The only thing that takes it down a little is that its dark all the time, not allowing you to explore the magnificient levels, taking some fun out of it.

Otherwise, though, this game is very realistic, with great graphics, even if you can't appreciate them sometimes due to darkness. It is possibly the most realistic war game to come out with a lot of historical relevance. The good thing is that it is a good blend of the historical stuff and heroism barely possible to achieve in real life (you need a little of that in every war game). This game has an average selection of weapons, but you dont really need a huge variety of weapons to have fun with it.

If your looking into it, buy this game, but if you are comparing it (or already have) call of duty 2, just get 2 and skip this one.

Good game but not worth the price of 50 bucks

This game is a game I picked up at gamestop when i was in need of a game. I think i got it for 20 dollars. This game is a good game to play but i would not have payed more than 20 dollars for it, its just not worth that kind of money.

The story of course is based on WW2 so there isnt much to explain about it. The cinematechs are just old clips of ww2 events with some guy talking in the background explaining the event and then you play the event. It doesnt really bring you into the game all that well.

The gameplay is probly the strongest quality of the game. IT really brings you the aspect of being in a world war. The only problem is the game is really short, too short to be exact. Also the gameplay didnt really have that much detail. The weapons are the usual world war 2 weapons, I still hate the crap loading but I mean if they had to deal with it back then i guess we should play with it. Sadly it has no multiplayer except for live, I would have really liked to see a co-op mulitplayer. The levels in the game were good but then again the levels were short and the missions were'nt that hard to complete. The gameplay though did have a lot of stuff going on at once which is a great feature. I mean you would see a plane come across drop a bomb while a tank shoots down a building while grenades are flying off cement walls and thousands of people running for cover from a turret......its pretty sweet. I believe the beginning of the game is by far the best when you are the russians. It has the most fun levels with that sort of craziness. As the game goes on it starts to get boring especially when you hit the part in the game where u play as the united states, I would think they would make this part the most fun, but you do the boring missions in that part of the game, it gets really boring.

The graphics could have been a lot better in my aspect. IF the graphics were good the game would have jumped to a 4 overall for me. The sound in the game is good and there is always sounds of people and your men screaming. In suround sound its beastly.

Overall this game could have been a lot better, it is def not worth more than 20 bucks and it only keeps you occupied for a little bit cause then it gets boring. Another thing that really annoys me is if a game has a really boring main menu screen, it pisses me off cause then i dont feel like playing and this game has a really boring menu screen. The gameplay though does get boring as you go through the game and I'm still so bored of the gameplay that i never bought the second one and I probly wont buy the third one for ps3.
