The graphics arent anything special. The customize your officer has no good features. a lot of it is ridiculously hard. annoying music and menus. ive only played the first parts and so far it seems bad. maybe it will get better but i doubt it. rent it dont buy it. short and sweet

The game has nice-looking graphics and good control. So why is is a piece of crap compared to the PS2 version?

Pros:
-Nice plot
-Fun
-Good controls
-Dolby Digital sound in the actual game, not the cinematics (only thing better than PS2 version)

Cons:
-LOTS of slowdown
-LOTS of pop-up
-Distracting music
-Easy mode is a joke (no kidding)

Verdict:
If you have played the previous 3 games, stay away! There's nothing new! Otherwise, if you are a newcomer to the XBOX or a new Dynasty Warriors fan, rent first.

Final Verdict: 77%

it should be 1000000 stars

I first started playing the Dynasty Warriors series with Dynasty Warriors 2. When I first played it it was so amazing the set up and gameplay. Over 1000 people in 1 map. I assumed it could never get better. Then when I got xbox ofcourse I bought was Dynasty Warriors 3. It was even better than 2. There was a few gameplay differences but they were great. Some of the maps I had recognized from the second. Then finally I got Dynasty Warriors 4. Now this one took some time to get use to as it was a whole different set up. But after a week I was well into this new style. I've unlocked everything and I'm still playing it and learning new moves!! There is one thing about the DW series that is a little disappointing, the fact that the majority of battles are the same but with modified maps. For instance in 3 & 4 Wu Zhang Plains. In 4 there was a couple of enemy units that annoyed me, mainly the jaggernauts the fire breathing wood tiger thingys and then some of the special levels you have to know what you need to do to unlock them meaning finding a strat guide wether online or the actual book from the store.. But then even games like Grand Theft Auto Vice City are that way. Overall I give it 5 stars. Keep them coming Koei!

Like Halo but with Swords

Ever heard never judge a book by its cover? This is an example. Look at the cover, its not to interesting right. But once you play it, you cant stop. It is also like a Warhammer game but your the person. One of the cool things about this game is that you can create your own character(the more characters you unlock, the more weapon you can have). Another cool thing about this game is that every time you gain 3 levels for your weapon, it looks cooler and does more damage. Especially the level 10 weapons. It may seem that once you get to level nine it will stop. But some levels you need to do curtain things and has to be on the hardest difficulty. The graphics are great, and every person has a different voice and saying(except the created people). If your friend is over, you can play co-operative. If your playing that, my suggestion is that one be the commander and one be a guy that is very strong.

WOW! Just WOW!

Yeah, it's just like the last one, but don't forget how good that one was. Everybody talks about the acion and the sheer number of characters to level up (over 40, each with unique moves), and new items and weapons, and customizeable characters (almost useless when you consider how few options you have), but they leave out how unbelievably FUN this game is to play. I play the same levels over and over and they never get boring. There is a ton of action, but what separates this game from other hack-n-slashers is the strategy. In each level you are but one soldier in an epic battle with thousands of combatants. What you do and where you go decides the outcome. Maybe you can spearhead an all-out assualt on the enemy commander to finish the battle at once, but as you do that, you leave your own commander open to a sudden suprise attack from the rear. As you charge through one group of enemies, sending bodies flying everywhere, you may realise you're isolated just as a trio of enemy generals (who are often each as individually strong you are) rides up on your flank to eliminate you and your bodyguards. This game can be incredibly hard at times, but that just makes you rise to the challenge. When your whole allied force has been all but wiped out and your enemies are closing in around you and you bodyguards, you feel the pressure to fight like you never fought before. Stories within stories unfold during the mousou (story) mode both inside and outside of battles. You gain new characters and receive reinforcements and special items during battles if you do the right thing. You can also be challenged to one-on-one duels by the enemy generals and those are always fun and challenging (but the short time limit is ridiculous). The elemental orbs and special items are really awesome and help turn your characters into super-warriors. The combo system is the most accessible to date, and I love that now you can choose a different general in every battle of mousou mode. I love leveling up my favorite generals (they have six unlockable costumes) and bodyguards (you can now name them). I just wish you could have a sub-general like in DW3 as well as or instead of your bodyguards. Oh well, that and the occasionally horrible slowdown are my only complaints. This game is going in my hall of fame.

Great! but a few flaws...

Look just buy this game okay? Everything is fun! With some exceptions... Sure you can unlock new costumes for regular officers but most are really crappy and dissapointing, but I still keep playing until I unlock them since its too addicting. Lu Bu is undefeatable in a duel on hard mode or normal. JUST RUN! The create a officer extra is pretty crappy with too few character models to choose from. In the game the reuse the same levels over and over with minor variations to give the appearence of a different level, although some are still unique. Voice acting is just plain terrible now, not funny as in before and all those who played number 3 should remember this quote, "YOU FLAMING IDIOTS! TAKE THIS!!!". Yup that hilarious part is now gone. There seems to be less strategy involved as in the third even though each general has his own strategy which is a lie. And the XBOX version should not have pop up characters and still have crappy graphics. THE XBOX CAN HANDLE IT!!! And in CO-OP the pop up is worse. Much worse. Arrow shooting has been fixed thank God where as before sometimes your arrows would fly clear through people. The versus mode games weren't great fun either. But the leveling up weapons, your character, items, and the endlesss action, more than make up its own short comings. This is worth getting. And if you have never played any Dynasty Warrior games before you could suddenly be obsessed with Chinese history and lore. You get a great feeling in this game when you charge through a group of over one-hundred soldiers just to rescue a fellow officer and the thanks you get is a nice touch. So get this game! You won't regret it until you have lost hours of your life to it.

Not as good as 3

The graphic is kind of overkilled. The teeth of all the generals are like vempires. The color is less vivid than 3 though it's more 3-D. In DW4, there is no Japanese subtitles and English Dialogue is worse than 3. The musou attack is boring. Guanyu's 3rd attack is complicated (xxy), DW3 is simple and fun.
