fun experience

To start off, Hitman 2 is a great game. Tons of options are always availble about how to complete a mission. Will you go in with guns blazing or disguise your self and use stealth as your weapon? It's up to you. This game is fun and offers quite a bit of replayability. The graphics are decent but not exceptional. Though the game has great character animations, the characters A.I. can sometimes be a bit wonky, though overall it has no affect on the experience of the game. It kept me interested and hooked me for quite a while. This game is most definitely worth checking out.

Hitman 2 for the Xbox is an action game that can be played in either 3rd person view or first person. You are an assassin with no name, your are just called "47". You'll run into mafioso, political and military characters. Using every type of weapon found in most FPS, your goal is to kill your target. The targets are usually heavily gaurded with bodyguards, and soldiers. Since you are outnumbered, it's better to be sneaky and that is where changing disguise comes in. You can kill a civilian or one of their own personel and change your clothes, to fool them, and get close to your target. Wait! There is one problem...you have a barcode printed in the back of your head! So you must walk backwards or sideways so noone can see your barcoded noggin (which blows your cover). Hitman 2 is tense, has good puzzles and the action is bloody and brutal. But the game is severly scripted, difficult, and hard to control, killing much of the replay value.

Pros:
+excellent puzzles
+excellent action
+excellent weapons
+excellent sound effects
+excellent music
+excellent voice-acting
+multiples paths to objectives
+3rd person or first person view

Cons:
-scripted gameplay
-gameplay not really free-form
-barcode on your freakin head
-overly complicated controls
-very slow paced
-PSONE looking graphics
-timed missions sucked
-single player only
-no replay value

A lot of people tend to compare Hitman 2 to Splinter Cell, but the two really have very little in common. Although Splinter Cell is a very good game, I would say that Hitman 2 is actually more enjoyable. This is probably because Hitman 2 offers a greater degree of freedom; you're given a target and a couple of guns at the start of each mission, but how you complete it is entirely your own decision. You could go in with guns blazing or play the entire mission without killing anyone but the target, all of which greatly increases the game's replayability. The graphics are also beautiful, with some of the best textures and water effects I've ever seen in an Xbox game. On the negative side, the story is a little recycled (save the world from a terrorist with a nuclear weapon AGAIN) and a couple of the missions are almost ridiculously hard due to poor AI (as in overly paranoid guards or disguises that don't work no matter what). These are just minor flaws, however... At twenty bucks for a Platinum Hits edition of the game, it's a steal.

it went platinum for a REASON

oh my god where to begin!

alright, let me say this, this game is like metal gear solid but without the plotline that makes you question the meaning of purpose, hence it's FUN.

use tactics like car bombs, poison, sniper rifles and piano wire to kill your enemies, and that's only the stuff they tell you on the back of the box.

Plotline- alright this is a great plot, your priest (funny a preist and an assassin are good buddies) friend is captured and the hitman breaks out his signature baller pistols (this is a sequel mind you) again, you revive more missions from diana to pay the agencey for info on how to rescue your buddy, i have not completed the game yet because certain levels are too much fun to not do over and over and over again.

Gameplay- 5 outta 5 on this one dude, 1st or 3rd person fighting and dozens of weapons, including realizm, civilians will run up to cops shouting that you killed someone so your identity must be masked quickly, hell i've even had civilians run up to me pointing in the direction of a body of a guard i killed. you CAN go gung-ho but it takes the fun out of the game, it'd be like MGS with invisibility, plus it USUALLY gets you killed in a matter of seconds. More importantly is how entertaining it is to make hits, i can play the saint petersburg stakeout for hours at a time because making a kill from a concealed location with a sniperrifle and then walking away from it is so much fun, and if i feel like target practice then bust out an AK and let loose, also if you use the signature baller pistols you will get a special treat of taking down anything with 1 shot, which is realistic because baller pistols are like cannons.

Graphics- awsome, just awsome, blood pools and smoke pours from the tip of your barrel plus your signature red tie will blow in the wind and over your shoulder depending on if your running or walking or in the level, very nice, plus this game has some ragdoll that tops brute force, now THAT'S impressive

Weaponry- very good, and you have a shed in sicily where you can grab any weapon you've found in levels (and escaped with) and practice firing on ducks, scarecrows pigs ect, unfortunatley you will usually only use a sniper rifle, scilenced pistol and a fiberwire plus the occasional AK47 if [it] hits the fan (which it will). but you CAN weild things like aks, ballers, shotguns, m16s, sniper rifles, kitchen knives crossbows and eve Katannas (more of a disguise weapon then an arm).

Misc- this game was done VERY well, very intelligent AI, also hard to perdict, only a seasoned vet can effectivley sneak up behind a guard that's urinating, use piano wire and then store the body in a correct place, after 5 months i still screw up, plus RAGDOLL!!!!! this game has some of the best i've ever seen, for those that are saying "wtf is ragdoll?" it's when body's go limp when dead, rather then in MGS2 where all the guards will have identical deaths you can shoot an enemy in the head with a 9mm pistol and they might fall down or spin and die, but with a shotgun the will more likley hit the wall behind them (and leave a nice painting), plus draggin the corpse shows the beauty of ragdoll unlike certain stealthy's (mgs2).

pros..........all of the above (and the ability to save right before a kill, and do it over and over)

cons

hard to do, will aggravate the average gamer
most people will rush through levels with aks and get through the whole thing saying "that was crap" because they've cheated and taken away the fun

overall

great game because in this killing is an art, and using an AK is like photocopying.

Great title

This XBox title uses some of the XBoxe's graphics power. The environments in the game are very detailed, and so are all the characters. The guns look great. The only bad thing about this game is that it's not your "blast-your-way-through" type of game. In fact, unless you follow the mission objectives step by step as shown in your game guide (if you even have one), you will notice that pretty much as soon as you pull out your sniper rifle and start to shoot nearby guards, your targets will be alerted and escape and the Restart Mission screen will get really old. But even because of this, once you get hold of your "God Mode" and "All Weapons" cheats, this is an excellent game, and because of the detailed graphics and gameplay, it is fun to just run around and kill every living creature in that particular level, including the pigs and doves in your starting mission. There are many revolvers, pistols, machine guns, snipers, shotguns, anti-tank .50 cals, and even a sword, golf club, and fire ax that you can kill your enemy with. I recommend this game if you like to shoot everything you see in your game and love good graphics. This game also has a good storyline.

This game is so great, so awesome, and so cool! You are a hitman and in every level, but about 2 i think there is 1 or more peple that you have to murder. There are so many awesome wepons that you can use, there is also a great assortment of disguises you can get. when you kill or knock out a person you can steal their clothes. If you are dressed up as a cop or a bodyguard other cops will not usually attack you. This game has great Ai, for example if you are in disguise and you are acting suspiciously guards will get suspicious of you and watch you more closely. There are all kinds of stragities that you can use to complete missions. You can choose either 1st or 3rd person views in anytime in the game. I totally recromend this game for any one who likes shooters or stealth games.

Rewarding Strategy/Stealth FPS Gaming

Hitman 2 is a first person shooter which rewards control and stealth over full-out blasting. Gorgeous graphics and freeform gameplay make this great for teenagers and adults.

To start out, you're a retired hitman, enjoying the beauty, peace, and serenity of Sicily, Italy. You talk with your friend, the priest, about your hope for being one with God. Unfortunately for you, this is when the bad guys show up and kidnap the priest.

You don't have the $500,000 ransom they demand, so you call up your agency and arrange to do some missions for them in return for help rescuing the priest. And you're off! You're wandering through very well done maps, with a diverse collection of tools at your disposal. Do you pick the locks to go in the back way? Shoot the guy from the trees, sneak up and wire him, maybe chloroform him in a corner?

The game is very open-pathed. You choose which way to approach a mission, what might work best. Your opponents are smart and react to finding bodies or to unusual behavior. This isn't a go-here-then-go-there game, it's a game where you're placed in the world and have to decide which approach works best for you. There's a stealth meter, you can hear your footsteps, you can see your shadow.

Having just finished playing Splinter Cell, though, the game suffers a bit in comparison. The movements are more jerky, the lighting not nearly as nicely done. You can peer through keyholes, but not around a partially opened door, or shoot around the door. You can't move along walls and peer around the corner. So some stealth techniques we found quite natural and helpful from Spliter Cell were impossible here.

Also, the open-endedness of the missions can lead to frustration. Even taking one step two far or opening the wrong door can lead to mission failures, so you can spend hours on a single mission trying to figure out which technique will work. In essence you learn what each AI character does and then work around it - which isn't very realistic.

Still, the game is quite fun to play, the graphics are very nice, and the missions are interested. Recommended for any fan of the stealth-fps genre.
