Homage to "The Fast and The Furious"

This has to be the best racing game out there currently. The scenery for this game is fantastic in that you see taco stands, nightclubs, civilian traffic and pedestrian traffic throughout the city. This game even has a Cruise Mode to permit you to drive through the city and test out new rides in different weather conditions and foot traffic. The addition of motorbikes is the primary reason that I got this game since I have one myself (a Yamaha). The game, from what I've heard, also has some Ducati's (or copycats thereof) and Suzuki's (I think). Driving a motorbike is totally different than handling a car in this game in that you have advantages and disadvantages over a car. I personally favor the motorbike over the cars for its speed, control and the cutting ability, but you have to give yourself some ride time to adjust how to control the motorbike correctly. The voice-acting in this game is okay but not incredible. In the game itself, you do meet different main characters and each has their own way of driving. Some drive recklessly and some drive by the book, but each seek not to lose their rides to you. They also talk smack to you while you are driving. The controls for each of the cars are also excellent; they are arcade-like, I admit, but at least you aren't spinning out every time you make a turn (e.g., Driving Emotion Type-S or AutoModellista). The controls in of themselves closely imitate Gran Turismo's controls, tight and responsive. The cars in of themselves pay homage to the movie "The Fast and the Furious" and its sequel. From the stunts you can perform such as riding on 2 wheels to flying over other cars during the race to the rides you can obtain. You even get increasingly better cars with more NOS!

Admittedly, there are a few faults such as a Random Track generator, and that the rides you obtain can't be modified with aftermarket parts such as intake valves and addition of NOS tanks. Also, you are limited in the people that you choose and the races; for example, you may choose to participate in one race from one person one time and another race from another person another time and then return to the first person. Additionally, you can't bet anything other than your car per se.

Other than that, it's a great game. I have yet to play online, but I heard it's a blast. I'll be trying it online within a week or so...

this is a well graphic game and i think

Midnight club 2 is a great game for racing fans and its not just racing its nos and the awsom cars. Its fun that u have to go out a find someone to race them. And if you can't beat them then u can go find a different racer. The best thing is my older sister likes it and the only other game she likes is ssx. The detail of the citys are awesome.

HOPE YOU LIKE IT

The good: I'm not a racer but I heard this game was coming and finally found it yesterday. I played it for a few hours and I'm hooked already. I used the cruise mode and found all sorts of hidden jumps throughout the LA. Look in the construction area for a good one and over the water/storm ditches. Just when you think you're sick of driving in LA, you find some other secret route through (or under) a building. The city looks great (except the pedestrians). The "near miss" scenarios as you're driving 120 mph through a red light are cool too. I've played demos where you barely clip another car and it sends you flying out of control. This game allows you to keep control much easier.

The bad: I spent hours in "Cruise" mode and it gave me a choice in transmissions (auto and manual in multiple types). I decided to do the "Bomb" game and it defaulted to a manual transmission and I was lost. I didn't know what button was what until I paused and checked the book. It wouldn't let me change transmissions. You're stuck with a piece of [junk] car to begin with and all the other cars have nitro etc so they consistantly kicked my behind.

I haven't bought a driving controller yet so I will look for one next. Maybe it will make it even better.

Overall it's an awesome game with great detailing and control. I will have to look up a few cheats just to see how they are.

This game is exactly like "The Fast And The Furious", with cars from a little "yugo" to a "bat-mobile". The game indeffantly rocks for xbox. If you'r a "xbox live" player such as my self you will find this just like the real thing only you don't lose your car. Also at the end of the movie you all remember the dodge charger there is an exact replica of that in the game and yes it does occaionaly pop a wheelie. For somebody who whats adrenaline pumped into ever course of there body this is the game for you. If your looking to a sequal to the game it is actually the first one the made and target carries that as well the only down side to the first one is it is only avalible on "PS2". If you buy the game you will be amazed how amazing the plot, vehicles, characters, and maps are so advanced. For the "xbox gaming system" it is a must buy for every racing fan.

this game is awesome!

First off, let me say that this game is awesome. But by now, almost every thing Rockstar Games makes is cool. Oni, Smuggler's Run 1 and 2, Grand Theft Auto 3 and 4, and Midnight Club 2 are great games. Ok, now to Fun Factor. This game is very addicting and fun. The cars are fast and driving is realistic. Now, Graphics. These graphics are very smooth, the cars have realistic textures, and the characters like Moses look very good. Now,Sound. The in game music is cool, you can listen to the radio while you cruise Los Angeles, Paris, or Tokyo, just like you can in Grand Theft Auto. The commercial theme song is sweet, too. Last, Controls. The controls are easy, A is gas, Y is change camera angle, Left thumbstick to steer, press left thumbstick to change lighting, right thumbstick back to shift into reverse, and press right thumbstick to brake. Overrall, This game is : Fun Factor:10/10 Graphics: 10/10 Sound: 10/10 Controols: 10/10 Overrall: 10/10 Overrall, this game is great, and Rockstar Games should be very proud of it.

Best racing game of the year...

Funny thing is, it was the commercial that actually got me to buy it...Well, if you've seen the commercial (as I usually do during Smackdown on UPN) you'd go crazy. The music defenitely kicks butt. But the game kicks even more!

I played this on PS2, not Xbox (because in my opinion, all games for Xbox brutally sucks). But the game wasn't selling on PS2 here. The only bad thing about the game is the voice-acting. Improve on that, Rockstar!

The best thing of all (of course) are the cars. Sure, you start out first with a sturdy Cocotte, but then you go on to the flashy Torrida, then the Motorbikes, then the cop cars, then (FINALLY!) the last car you've been waiting for. Only thing I remember is that it's called X something...=P The Motorbikes are my all time favorite.

Another thing that sucks about the game is the diffculty. In the beginning, it's not hard. Any first-time-videogame-racer can get the first two or three cars in a flash. But when it goes down to Paris and Tokyo, it gets almost impossible to beat. Well, at least it was like that for me...and I'm not exactly a beginner driver.

The Cheat Codes: I noticed a few ratings that said the cheat codes don't work. THEY DO. One thing you have to keep in mind is the lower and uppercase letters. For example, putting in "pennyThug" will get you all the cities and cars in arcade mode. But you HAVE to note the capital letters! Everything in pennyThug is lowercase except for the "T". Use Shift to make the letters capital again. Same goes for "greenLantern" (infinite nitrous, I think) and the rest.

If you love racing games and don't enjoy this one, it's all over...

A must play....

Wow...how could you not give this game a 5 star rating?it's the first racing game to let you use NOS,the first racing game to have you involved in the game even when finding people to race instead of just signing up for events like in Test Drive or Apex.
The graphics are good,LA,Paris, and tokyo has insane jumps and good backgrounds, plus the the AI comes off challenging but still beatable. My only complaint is the lack of a custom soundtrack option.it would be awesome to drive around listening to the 2 fast 2 furious soundtrack or some 50 Cent or JT Money.Anyway you gotta go buy this game right now.get your a$$ out of that chair you're sitting in reading this and go to your nearest [local store]and pick it up!
