For any fan of old school westerns this game is a must. Is it perfect? No, but it is a revolutionary game that finally lets old western fans have fun video game style. I felt that the game played well and stayed true to the old school western way of doing things. The game play was fluid and I really did not have many complaints with the camera as some others did i had no trouble controlling the camera as I went a long. Personally I prefer to have control of the camera. An excellent game I definitely give it a high recommendation.

good game but i beat it in one day in like 6 hours....which sucked....game was way too easy but it was fun with the double tme or what ever it was with the L2 button...but over all a good shooter and the story line was ok...i didnt like how you couldnt roam around freely though...that would have made the game better...but overal it was a good game worth a rental not a buy...

this game was great! i loved. i rented the game and i loved the game so much that i bought the game when i still could have played the rented game for 4 more days. this game is great. it feels to me like max payne but in a nice western stye. You could ride horses and bulls and get on trains. So far i have played as 4 different players and i loved them all. There is also a great multi-player mode and you can be on the same teams. I give this great game five star!

You saw the title, and I emphasize this greatly. There is just so much that you can do in this game. In the single player "Story" mode alone, you fight against a variety of villains who have everything from whips, giant boulders, a replenshing elixir, and of course, guns. Not only that, but you can be a bunch of different characters, from a British gunslinger/showoff, a black dude, to an Annie Oakley-type to an Indian, to name a few. You can even unlock different characters for multiplayer mode and pages of Red's (the main character) journal to find out how his life has gone. Not to mention the horse-riding, stagecoach-driving, and the dueling feature. I haven't even played but the first six or seven levels and I can say that this is one of my favorite games ever.

Interesting concept but constrained...

The concept of a western action / RPG was something that called to me loud and clear: blast those varmits! C'mon, who doesn't like that idea?

The graphics were fantastic, the sound effects were phenomenal (with surround sound), and the performance was excellent. The weapon selections are cool and the combat system is innovative (the dead-eye and showdown features are great: cue old west music and quick-draw movie cut). Those were the game's strongest points by far.

The weak spots had to do with the storyline and gameplay. The story, by itself, was excellent and well-written but its execution was sadly lacking. The game is 100% linear with absolutely no choice in course of action or deviation. Even character choice is up to the story and not the player - you'll use different characters, both good and bad, throughout the game. Totally linear gameplay really bugs me. I finished the game just to finish it - but halfway through the game it was apparent that the gameplay was poorly implemented.

If you like a game with some good action and fun combat sequences that you'll have no problem with this game - even the story is okay to watch. But I can't abide 'watching' a story unfold with no choice but to pull the trigger. You have to fight to progress the story and there is no other option - fight and win or start over and fight and win....

Take care!

FINALY!A COWBOY GAME!

this game is pretty cool.ive been waiting since forever for a down and out shoot em up and rip em down cowboy game like this ever since my imagination was born.theres everything youd want in an old west video game like showdowns, saloons, whisky, brothels, and of course really big boo boos.the blood and guts was a bit more than i expected.and i dont know what the inventors of this game have against carnies but MAN! DO YOU HAVE TO WASTE A LOT OF THEM!it reminds me a lot of shellshock nam 67,but its like the old west instead of viet nam[1867 perhaps!].what i mean is its very straight forward and theres hardly ever a lack of any thing to shoot up.theres not a whole bunch of figuring junk out either.i used to hate when you had to think really hard to beat video games and then theyd throw the word "entertainment" in thier title.if i wanted to think a whole bunch,id go to college!this game rocks.you are a bounty hunter out exacting revenge on those who killed your parents and killing plenty of random bad guys in the meantime for cash!if you liked the 2 or 3 cowboy levels from duke nukem but couldnt get enough,THEN YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE!

Well thought out but...why buy a game you'll never beat?

I'll admit, Red*Dead Revolver is one of the first good western games (Besides the Wild Arms series, but thats more RPG based). Anyway, you won't be able to beat this game, you'll either get stuck where your Jack Swift fighting Perry, getting overrun by clown guys and knife throwers, in the hills fighting bad bessie who has a seemingly unending life meter, in the cemetary fighting Mr. Black with the coffin on his back that turns into a gatling gun, or where youre Diago fending off the entire SouthWestern-American Army by yourself, 2 soldiers (they die quickly), and 8 cannons that are barely under your control. Rockstar, like capcom, tends to put some unbeliveabally stupid part(s) in thier games, (Manhunt, GTA:3, Onimusha-Cap., Onimusha2-Cap.) I garuntee you that you wont beat this game unless you cheat. Other than that, the guns are really cool and vary greatly, the music is also very old-timey which goes along great. The Storyline is pretty average, but the fact that your a bounty hunter in the wild west makes it better. Don't buy this game, RENT IT...

Not a bad game overall, definately different from most shooter games out there. I personally have only 2 complaints.
It should have been a 1st person game instead of 3rd person, 3rd person makes charactor control awkward. (as anyone who's played GTA3 and Vice city would know)
And the systom for the "duels" could've been simpliefied. (c'mon, FOUR phases in a fast draw?) No matter how carefully you follow the duel procedures it's still a matter of random luck to acually carry it off which is damn frustrating when you have to redo a duel scene up to 2 dozen times before you succeed so you can continue, and if you fail the scenario the odds are you'll have to redo the same frustrating duel!

If Rockstar does a sequel I hope they make it 1st person and do away with the duels.
