Finally, a game for Robotech fans!!!

I have been waiting years for a Robotech themed game and this game does not disappoint. Like other shooter games, there are stages or chapters and missions to pass before getting new mechs and unlock new features.

One of things I loved about Robotech was Veritechs' ability to transform between the three modes and this game faithfully reproduced that and the special abilities each mode brings to the game.

The other thing I appreciate about this game is how the missiles fly in a pattern similar to the original cartoons and their fire-and-forget capability.

The difficulty level at normal is about right and the controls are easy to use.

Love this game

My wife went out for groceries and came back with this game:) First of all, I love the game, especially the graphics (don't know what that other guy was complaining about). I usually hate cell-shaded games, but this was the perfect feel. Second, I love the single-player missions (and there are a ton of them).
Only three improvements possible:
1. You can't be one of those motorcycle mechs.
2. The multiplayer is not as expansive as possible (with only 2 players possible)
3. No cooperative missions
But on the plus side, the three transformations are great! You can choose from among them at any point and the animations are awesome! (And I really was truly awed)
Oh, the controllers aren't that difficult once you've been through the training levels.
Definately worth the money!

More then Just nostalgia

As a Fan of Robotech since I was in the 6th grade (many, many years ago), I may be a little biased. However, I try to rate games from a objective point of view. That said, I'm absolutly addicted to this game. I wasn't overly impressed when I first opened it up last week. The targeting in battloid mode is automatic, and doesn't have the 1st person controls I've grown to expect from games like Halo. That said, I quickly got used to it, and its no longer a problem. That was my only gripe. Otherwise, the cell-shaded graphics are great, and the music is from the television series, also great.
Its pretty obvious that the creators of this game are big fans of the series. the majority of it takes place after the Zentradi battle that decimated the earth. Many of the fights take place in small townships or ruined cities...everything you'd expect from a world that has mostly been destroyed.
This being said, I believe someone who is new to the show will like the game once they get used to the controls (being able to change from fighter/guardian/battloid is great, though the small game boundries isn't), but anyone who knows the show will probably love this game. Its hard not to.
Really, If you've invesed in the DVDs, I strongly reccomend this game.

One of the best games for Xbox

This game is great. I took the chance and preordered it before I knew too much about the game and I was not disapointed. The cell shading, which I normaly don't like in games, fits the game well, although the smoke looks kinda weird. The only minor problems I saw with the game is the multiplayer mode, which only allows 2 players and only slight changes in game type, and the cut scenes are only airbrushed stills and leave some of the plot out.
Bottom line: great single player anime action game with a okay but not spectacular multiplayer mode. Arguably better than HALO.

If you are a robotech fan get this game!

This rating is for Robotech fans. Others might not like it as much. This game is addictive and very fun. Rented it first then HAD to buy it. Graphics are good and gameplay is both challenging and rewarding (you are going to love blasting stuff with your missiles and strafing with your chain gun). There is a learning curve so at first you will be frustrated (I mean there is three modes to learn for god sakes).

I would have changed a couple of things. Limited missiles would have enhanced the versus mode. Other than that, however, this is a good game.

right on

I didn't know what to think, looking at all the ads and just completing my collection of the television series and then I purchased the game. It is worth every penny. I don't think people would enjoy the game properly unless they were a big Robotech fan. The only grip I would have is that they didn't use the characters in the story line, but they ran along side the show with what happens on the earth during the Zentradi conflict. As much detail that the programmers put into the game, you can tell that they paid paticular attention to detail to where as a customer, you win.
If you don't know about Robotech, I recommend getting the first volume of the series, but beware, you will be hooked.

this game is crazy awesome

This game is crazy. Its one of the best games ive ever played. The only problems are the missions are severley repetetive and u cant fly very high, but other than that its awesome. Although there never is a mission where u have enough room to do maneuvers like firing a salvo of missiles and then changing into battloid mode to realy fight, or do some coolio spin move then fire some missiles and then fly upward and straight down again. But this game is 10x better than that ripoff Robotech Invasion. But its still one of the best games ever. (Xbox version is best).

Love at first play!

As a hardcore Robotech fan this game was a "must buy". But I was very pleased that it is really a good game in and of it self, regardless of the robotech theme. The look and feel of the game is great. As you play you quickly begin to enjoy the handling the fighter as it transforms into "robot" form. Also the story line is easy to follow, so if you have never heard of robotech you easly know whats going on.

The only downside is getting use to the control and how to use it in three different modes.

This is a great game, I belive most people will enjoy it.

Finally the Robotech games the FANS wanted.

This is what a Robotech game should be. It's pretty well done and is 480P HDTV compatible. The voice work is top notch and the music and weapon sounds are as I remember them. The cel-shaded graphics enhance the anime feel to the game. You can use the 3 modes of combat but the controls are slightly different for each so make sure to run through the short Training mode to get used to them but they might take awhile to actually master.

Though not alot of replay value it is very immersive and a treat for Robotech fans. There is room for minor improvement but I think this is the best fans will ever see in a Robotech Game.
