Mindless,super fun arcade action...

Mindless, super fun arcade action sums up State of Emergency,a riot game that is very fun.Yes,its not the deepest game around and dosen't have a whole bunch of depth, but its nice price makes it a good buy for someone who likes action and excitement.State of Emergency controls well too making it a great pick up and play game.Plus, while it may not have the greatest graphics ever and the graphics could have been improved, its cool that there are hundreds(or maybe thousands...) of pedestrians on the street with no slow down at all!Plus, there are extra features exclusive to this Xbox version of State of Emergency, including improved graphics, custom soundtrack support, and some of the frustrating mussions from the PS2 version were taken out, too. If you good old mindless fun, then buy State of Emergency(but don't expect anything too deep).

You get what you pay for.

I hope my title is off, really. They are adding multiplayer, which may be the closest anyone gets to GTA multi for a long while--thanks PS2, you bixatch. There was talk of the missions being redone so as to not be so monotonous, as well. I'm also curious to see how this one ports to XBOX. The key word there is 'port', as in 'hardly ever any good.' For the price of a CD, I may try it again, though I strongly urge you to wait for the gamespot.com or ign.com review before you pick this up. Better to be safe...(ends with an adage and an elipsis, but why?)

It will only hurt for a little while.

I am of course referring to the PS2 version, but I feel it is my duty to warn any one that has not already played this game to beware. It was disguised as the "most controversial game ever" by some gaming magazines. Yeah right.....the only contoversy I saw was, "what in the heck happened to my hard earned money?"

In all fairness this game was fun for about an hour. Seeing the same chartacters over and over and over was more than I could take. Fortunately, I was able to take it back to my local video game shop confessing I had made a horrible mistake buying it.

Rockstar tried to pull a fast one by shipping this one soon after GTA3. Don't let anyone fool you...you could skip this game and never miss it.

not as good as GTA 3 , but it fun

this game is cool that first , i have this game on ps2 and i have a xbox . in this game you can go and beat someone to death it fun and cool at first . the mission ... you may have to do the mission over and over and over again this will happen lot. the soundtrack ... . you play in a mall , city hall and more . the people who will enjoy this the most are people who aren't allowed to go in to a store to buy it.

Are you kidding me?

The PS2 Version------Ok, they say this game is very controversial...far from it. U need an id to buy it (well u did at one point) no need 4 that. They should have done that to the GTA series, now thats a baaad game All the violence is cartoon...BORING. Cartoon heads flying off is nothing compared to gore like SOF 1&2. If you want to waste some money for a quick laugh...buy it. That guy is right, it is good for playing 10 minutes here and there...but who wants to waste money to do that? If ur smart, u wont buy this game-trust me

Not as bad as they say...

Before i go any farther, completly disregard all of the comments you read about the ps2 version. A good portion of why that versiion was so shallow was the lack of multiplayer. That problem is fixed in this version. Although this certainly isn't the greatest game ever, it is always fun for an hour at a time, and for that reason it is worth at least trying.

Chop-, Shoot-, and Blow-up Everyone!

At first, I was really self-consious about liking this game so much, but once I saw how well-received it was, I felt better. I just wish it wouldn't erase my saved game every 5th or 6th time I attempt to change levels. (I've tried 6 seperate copies, erasing all SOE data each time, but they all do it. It must be in the programming).

this game is preety cool on mutiplayer mode

Avoid this one...I wondered about this game because I saw it cheap in a lot of shops. It looks like it could be interesting & fun. It's just a bunch of chaos. Pointless, random chaos all around you is not fun. Trust me. Whatever the "mission" was at the time, the fact all these mindless "AI" (I use the term "AI" loosly here) are running wild in seemingly infinite numbers ruins the point of gaming. I got rid of it & the folks at the store I took it back to were like "I feel you".

Awesome

State of Emergency is awesome. You can kill thousands of people and do some very fun GTA like missions(but without vehicles). The addition of multiplayer is a great bonus for Xbox owners and they took away the frustrating missions from the PS2 version. At the price, you should purchase this game.
