One of the top 5 action games this year on any platform

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

If you've played Double Dragon or Streets of Rage back in the day then you should have a blast playing this game. Rockstar Toronto pays homage to 'The Warriors' in an incredible way. Based on a 70's cult movie this game represents everything that an action/brawler should be and more. From the interesting mini-games (tagging, looting, car stereo theft) to the all out carnage of beating someone senseless with a 2x4 this game boasts enough content to keep you coming back for more. The presentation is nearly flawless and aside from the average graphics and slightly odd camera angle issues the game is in a league of its own. The story fills any plot holes that were in the movie and as far as i'm concerned is one of the best fleshed out storylines in any videogame i've seen this year . Two player co-op plus a wide variety of options makes this game a buy instead of a rent. As long as you're not a graphics wh0re and you like brawlers The Warriors should satisfy you in every conceivable way which sadly cannot be said about most action games that have come out recently. I'm hoping that Rockstar Toronto keeps the same amount of quality when working on future titles, espescially next gen. [Not for the younger gamers or the faint of heart] 5/5 Can you count, suckahs?

I bought this game the day it came out never even seeing the old film it's based on. I fell in love with this game from start to finish. I am pleased that I payed $50 for this because it's damn well worth it. If they were still selling this for $50 it still would be worth it. ROCKSTAR, I'M BEGGING YOU, PLEASE MAKE A SEQUEL TO THIS MASTERPIECE FIGHTING GAME.

Excellent son from an excellent father...

After the 70's cult classic, Rockstar has done it again. A very entertaining and aggresive game, not suited for kids, but a delight for the not so kids who have enjoyed the film during this last 25 years.
To be honest, I'm a very big fan of Rockstar Games, and bought The Warriors after reading nothing about it. I was hooked right away by the trama and development of the game, and right away bought both films (the latest Directors Cut, and the original film), and have had tons of fun playing the game and watching over and over again the movies. This is a 7, 8, 9 or 10 thumbs up game. And please, do yourself a favor if haven't seen the movie. Go and rent it, or better, buy a copy.

Warriors.......come out to plaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!

When i first heard of theis game, i was pretty exited. i hadn't seen the film, but it still looked great. So, i eventually saw the film, which is awesome, and soon after, got the game. Probably the best brawler iv'e ever played. The game is about a gang called the warriors. Now, this game is a prequel, so you get to see how the warriors started, how they deal with enemy gangs and you also get to see Ash, who wasn't in the film. After the prequel levels, the warriors attend a huge gang gathering organized bt Cyrus, leader of the biggest gang in NYC, the Riffs. Cyrus said he didn't want anybody packing. The meeting was to inform every big time gang about Cyruss dream of a unified super gang ruling the streets. Well, one gang, known as the Rogues didn't like this, so their leader, Luther, brought a gun, and shot Cyrus. The cops arrived, and mayhem followed. Luther pointed at Cleon, leader of the Warriors and said that he had killed Cyrus. The Riffs beat Cleon to death, while the other Warriors escaped. Now, every gang in NYC is out to get them. It's 60,000 against 8. In this game, you will encounter tons of gangs, such as the baseball furies, the moonrunners, turnbull acs, the rogues and the hurricanes just to name a few. get it.

Best Rockstar game yet!

This Game is unbelivebly awsome! Its got tons of missions and the cinamatics are pretty good. It is a unbelivbly good looking game with great fighting combat. Though the only two complaints are When you do free ride mode or a free run the enviroments could be a little bigger and the camera rotations are very crappy! But yet I think waiting so long for this game was way worth it!

The Gang creator mode is a great addition and playing as all the characters in the movie is cool. Controling youre gang as the leader is a cool feature but graffiti mode is cool but a little hard. Overall a butifull and addictive game.
NOTE: There is lots of cussing and vionce is mild but youre injuries are pretty grossume so be warned.

CAN YOU DIG IT????

My wife has been a fan of the movie "The Warriors" for many years now, so naturally when she saw the ad for the video game she wanted it. I ended up getting "The Warriors" game for her for Christmas and she hasn't even touched it yet........mainly because I'm the one always hogging up the XBox. When I first saw the ad for "The Warriors" I thought "Why would anyone want to make a video game based on a cheesy 'gang' film from the late 70's?" But now I can't imagine NOT owning this great game. The main story missions are so fun you'll find yourself frequently revisiting your favorite levels just so you can bash some poor soul over the head with a sledgehammer repeatedly or throw a random looter through a store window. Yes the game is brutal, yes the language is harsh but it is oh so fun. From the mindless violence to the great mini games, "The Warriors" offers hours of great gameplay that is well worth any gamers time.

Being a huge fan of the movie, I was excited to hear that there was a game coming out. Immediately, the game really did a good job of recreating the movie with great character models and voice overs.Getting into the game, a was unable to save, as the game auto saves, sometimes after only completing certain objectives. After replaying the same level a few times,I decided that mugging people, and tearing up businesses, so I could buy spray paint for tagging just did not appeal to me.The game seems to forget the cheesy fun of the movie in favor of excessive violence, and thuggary.

For fans of the movie the Warriors, you owe it to yourself to get this game. To fans, it is the closests you will get to being in Warrior heaven. The look, feel, story and game play puts you right in the movie. Technically, this is a prequel to the awesome movie until you are about 75% finished, then you play the movie. What is so cool is that in the prequel story, you also learn how every Warrior we have come to love joined the gang and even how the Warriors were started.

I have played this game twice since I bought it when it was released, and I can say that this has a HIGH replay value. I picked up this game and played again and it was just as fun as it was the first time I played. Not bored once. I really do like the bonus game that is like the 2D fighting games of yore. To unlock it, just beat the game and all the bonus missions. It is totally worth it. The sounds of that bonus game really take me back.

Overall, this is a must have for all you Warrior fans out there. You will live the movie!!!

definetly buy

I haven't seen THE WARRIORS, the movie, yet. But it's waiting in my shelf. Actually, I wanted to finish the game first. I did so just a few days ago.

For those who don't know the story of the movie: a HUUGE meeting with all the gang members of Manhattan goes chaotic when the guy who called for them (charismatic leader of the most respected gang) gets killed by a gun bullet, even though everyone was forbidden to go there weaponed. It seems that everybody loved the guy for some reason, expect for the killer maybe, the one who goes "THE WARRIORS! IT WAS THE WARRIORS!", infecting others with this idea. From then on, they're all trying to get revenge on one of the gangs called "the warriors" who have to find a way to get back to their territory, all the way throught areas stuffed with angry, bloody violant gang members who just want you dead. It's like 8 vs. 60'000.

The game starts way before that point when another guy called Rembrandt is joining the Warriors. Before you get to play the movie section you will learn what kind of conflicts are there between the warriors and some of the gangs, as well as how The Warriors were born. Those sections are called "Flashback missions".

Most important thing you gotta know is, that the movie section is extremly short. There are two huge missions in there though that never seem to end. So while I was looking for a desperate, hopeless-seeming kind of escape/hunt story, it was really tiny in comparison to the whole thing. THE WARRIORS always starts at their hangout, you can, well, hang out there, do some muscle training, and to outside, roam around Warriors-Territory. This feels like a little GTA, but really little. You can do some dealer-missions (helping them or whatever) and stuff, for example to get the ability to carry one more healing drug with you.

Best thing to me was the fact that there's really a lot of variety. It's kinda hard to describe but in comparison to MANHUNT, every mission here feels very different. Even every sub-mission. Ok, sure, there are repetitions, but some gameplay styles you get to play 3 times over the whole course. Some I loved, by the end I thought it's a pity it only happened so two times or whatever. By the end of the game, you can choose the missions and replay them, finish some more secondary missions like spraying the "W" logo wherever you can.

Except for "State of emergency" and "Red dead revolver" I've played every single Rockstar game so far. Manhunt was tough and hard to look at, but I felt more disturbed with THE WARRIORS. Probably because beating up people is done so realistically. When they're KO, they do not just fall to the ground, they crawl some feet during which you can keep kicking them (gaining points). They vomit, spit blood all over the place... watching 8 guys kicking into a guy (or woman!) has some kinda sickengly impressive feeling to it. Feels very realistic, all in all. You can command your people to hide, beat everyone up, destroy everything in sight (gaining points), hold back and wait or spread out. Reactions on your commands are effective, you never feel like they're not doing as told.

Graphics are great, just not THAT beautiful. A bit smaery/oily sometimes. But regarding the amount of people on screen, it never slows down. And hey, it's Rockstar, they like depravity and sick stuff, gritty places and the darker, violant side of humanity.
