I don't know hwat happened to ubisoft with this game, but it is no a rainbow six game, there are no tactics involved, it isn't realistic at all and has lost its appeal completly. buy it only if you are looking for another underaverage FPS

This game really sucks

I disagree with the critics. This game sucks. For one, every single time you tell your team to move out to a position, they never regroup no matter how many commands you ordered for them to regroup. Second, there are very few weapons, unlike Rainbow Six Black Arrow. Third, your men can't do anything! They die with a few shots and they hide behind a corner every time you are near a terrorist/mercenary. I highly recommend for you to not buy this game, and go out and buy a great game like Socom 3: U.S. Navy Seals.

What a Bummer!

What happened to Rainbow Six?? I have been a huge Fan since the PC Games and Lockdown is a turn for the worse. All the cool weapons are gone...The weapon sounds are weaker...The Visual Effects are Ok, but most of the controls have been moved around....WHY!!!!! To much change for me...I will be selling my copy of Lockdown and sticking with good ol RS3 and Black Arrow..I hope when Ubisoft makes The Next Rainbow Six they go "old school" and not alienate there hardcore fan base.

Horrible Game.

What a letdown , I enjoyed the other Rainbow Six games. But Lockdown is Horrible! The enemies are completly stupid . I could stand right in front of them and they would miss me. Graphics are choppy and blurry and muddy .Everything about this game really suxx. I highly recommend never playing this game. The Rainbow Six series was such a solid series , but Lockdown was more of a Letdown for me. Lockdown renamed to ThumbsDown. UBISOFT?? What the hell happened?

HUGE letdown

Now, I'm a fanatic of Rainbow Six, Black Arrow was good except the lack of levels.

Now this game is just horrible. They tried to futurize everything about it with the goggles, and the guns. One gun is an assault rifle looking thing that has a pistol attached to the side that you pull of for your secondary weapon. No where realistic like the other ones. If UBI soft wants to make a game they think is reviling HALO, name it something else other than Rainbow Six. You guys made this game striving for realism and squad combat. Now when your "elite soldiers" duck at every sound and you are holding some gun that doesn't exist, it is not a Rainbow Six game. UBI soft has really letdown their fans with this release. Those who like it have no clue what RB6 is all about. If you like the previous games DONT BUY THIS ONE. If you're into the futuristic stuff, i guess you could check it out....Hopefully the next will be better

flash and..wait are those noise makers or grenades?

Wow this game is like wining a million dollars and finding out the next day you dont have long to live, because the rainbow six series has always been one to bring something new to the table and make you feel proud to be a fan, but this game broke the rules all at once. Whats wrong with it? Everything but for starters the only thing that works in the game are your guns, everything from nades to claymores just dont pack the same bang and are overall useless..the flash bangs will blind you but not your ai enemies..the stun grenades do anything but stun, and just overall the explosives do nothing, and the new hammer is anything but a cool way to enter a room..i mean if your gonna just hit the door so it will open...why dont you try just pushing it ....lol the weapon you unlock ...which by the way in every rainbow six launches grenades ..somehow doesnt do it in this one ..or does it? i have had occasions where i switch the fire mode to its secondary and it launches a nade ..other times it just fires in single shots and doesnt do any damage....ugh this game is just horrible...lets just think positive though it must have been that the staff were all drunk at the same time when they realeased the game and will be sober next time (or in rehab) for the next installment of the series.

you can judge a game by it's cover

The game's cover says it all. Ugly. The worst cover art I've ever seen for a game. Worst of any of the Tom Clancy series for the xbox. An extreme letdown. It should be noted that, if memory serves, Ubisoft Canada team did this one, not the French (but don't quote me on that). Ubisoft promoted this game by claiming "stunning graphics and ultra-realistic" which is utter nonsense. A huge step downward in visual quality. Also, this is a minor gripe, but the Rainbow Six team is supposed to be a counter-terror unit I thought, and they seem to be fighting in more warlike theaters and army-like battle grounds. Leave that to the Ghost Recon team folks.

What went wrong?

I am a huge fan of the Rainbow series, and the first Rainbow 6 for the xbox is one of my favourite games, so i was excited to hear about a new one coming out that allowed you to do such things as customize your teammates and other cool things. How wrong i was!
So much has changed from the previous games, that the only similarities are the characters from the Rainbow series, everything else is different.
The POV has changed so that everything is through goggles, this is not a big deal like all the reviews make it out to be, the outline of the goggles do not get in the way of any of the view, but when you get shot bullet holes appear in the googles glass obscuring all the view. I do not know what kind of goggles these are, but if the person was shot 3-4 times in the eye making these holes they would probably be dead.
The gun selection has been severly limited, and although the names are different from the other Rainbow games they are just different varients and that is why the names are different. It did seem that they took away all the popular guns, like the G3A3, M16,M60 and others, and added many smaller machine pistols. I can not speak for other people but i would rather be killing people with a huge assault rifle than with a gun the size of my hand. You can only use a sniper rifle when the game lets you and the are next to no guns with scopes or silencers(the ones that do have them would definitly not in real life). All the gun sight systems are left to the stock option of needle and hole sighting, which is not typical of any special forces when they have red dots, scopes and lasers. This does get annoying when lining up a target because most of the gun gets in the way when looking at an enemy.
The controls have been drastically switched around, which seems to be for no reason since no new button options were added making the relayout a pointless joke. The way they have changed the button configuration has made it awkward for old Rainbow player, the left trigger used to be for changing weapons, now it throws grenades(real nice when im surrounded by my teammates and i frag them on accident)It seems that the games controls have been made very similar to Halo and other FPS games, just so that those people can get into it quicker.
The graphics are in my opinion the biggest let down, they arent as good as the others, which is a shame because the others were quite good. The guns do not look realistic and instead look almost cartoon like, the scopes on the very few guns that have them do not reflect light or interact with the environment in any way. Every enemy is one of about 3-4 designs, and the environment is nothing special.
The AI of both the team mates and the enemies is disgusting, i dont understand how other reviewers can say that they are intelligent or that they set up traps because the most i have seen them do is miss constantly with their guns only a few feet away from me. The enemy are almost as stupid as your own team mates who in every gun fight hide and switch to the hold option, causing you to go off without knowing that they are at the beginning of the map and you are at the end.
The game would be semi decent if it were not the sequel to the other excellent Rainbow games, and its expectation of being better or at least the same smashed. The game is far too easy, but i have found many glitches that have stopped me from progressing. On the fifth level a door jamned and the only way i managed to get through was by constantly running at it until i fell through it. Other things like terrorists managing to shoot me whilst they are in the reload sequence(impossible) and the heart beat moniter only sometimes working properly have all dampened the game.
The reviews that have given it a low score are from people who have played the other Rainbows, like good games, or expect better from xbox. The reviews that give it a good score are from people that are into quick fast paced games, that sacrafice quality and realism for a game that can be beaten quickly and easily.
I would recommend renting it because there are a few fun aspects to it, but not enough to actually wish you had bought it.

Idiotic

Here is why Rainbow 6 LOCKDOWN is not worth the money; quick and simple

1. Its too easy - even on "Elite" level, you can push through it, stand in front of people firing at you and nothing happens.
2. To unlock levels in multi-player you have to beat them first on single player.
3. The guns look like cartoons.

Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike was much much better.

Trash-- not worth the money

Well, this game has so few pros, that ill start with them--
-- Decent Graphics
--Good weapon selection
-- OK rag doll physics

The cons, however, are what make the game. The biggest problem is the game is obviously intended to be a tactical shooter, but is actually a run and gun. You have all the tools a tactical shooter requires-- special grenades, advanced team commands, decent weapons. but after the first level you'll learn that the AI is mind-numbingly stupid, and you really need no tactics. They have ridiculously bad aim, and you can walk straight into a room full of them without consequence. there are no tools that let you take cover effectively (like in a later installment, Rainbow Six: Vegas). It isnt satisfying taking out enemies, mainly because they fall too easy (im not talking about one bullet kills, thats fine. Im talking about the fact that they run out into the open and just stand there, not returning fire). The environments are dull and boring (seriously, who sets a level in a parking garage?) and your team mates are almost as stupid as the enemy. There is a fairly large selection of weapons-- the problem is, most of them are the same.
Overall, not a very satisfying, or good, gaming experience.
