Awesome Space Game Ever Made

X3 Combo package Review:

"I ordered the COMBO package which is suppose to be X3 v1.0 and X3 v2.0 - because as this was going to be a

collectors item for me. I received 2 of the very same package and game. Instead of what the purchase was intended to

be like the description it said. So basically I bought the same game twice. Maybe someone in the ordering and

packaging was not paying attention or something, So I am Upset"

As far as the game itself, This is One of the best game I have ever played.
Very realistic views of space and the best strategy games I have played.

I own Beyond The Frontier, X2 "The Threat" and X3 "The Reunion",
and when the new game comes out in 1 to 2 months, I will own that one too.
Called X3 "Terran Conflict"....

I play this game all the time, along with EVE-Online.
If you want a great space simulation game, this is what to get.
Some people hate it, but those are the one's that are not fan's and a good quality space sim game.

If you have someone that loves Space games, get them this.
but do them a huge favor, get the entire collection.

1 - Beyond The Frontier
2 - X2 The Threat
3 - X3 The Reunion
4 - X3 Terran Conflict

They will love you for it.

fun? not quite. but a great tool to do stress test on your new computer

well, i've never played a space sim with such an amazing graphics, plain beautiful! it also runs great on my amd3000+ with x800GTO with no lags. Gameplay is really just like Independence war II, but with much worse controls and other element design. the game really takes a LONG time to learn, many things in the game didn't really make sense the way they designed them. Controlls are aweful, not very intuitive. This might be different for you though, but I've heard many people complaining about the control

Basically, an eye candy if you have a decent computer, but really a pain to play. u may as well just run the game to look at the cool space stations. So my 4 stars are for the graphics, and nothing else.

I would recommend 'Independence War II: Edge of Chaos', its the best space sim i've played, although an old game but was very well made, and its just plain fun to be a space pirate that steals cargos then shoots down the police chasing after you, almost like GTA in space :)

Best space game out there period

Simply put this game is the best single player space sim out there.

Want to do a story mode? Want to just do an open ended career? Want to dl tons of mods, custom ships and scripts? X3 has it all. With a little research and work you can even add your own mods and custom ships.

The choice in gameplay is up to you. You can be a defender of the galaxy, a trader, a feared pirate. Your career is up to you.

Get this game if you like space sims, less arcadey than other games out there, it can be brutal. But if you love space, love sci fi, you can't do better than this product.

I cannot rate this game as I dont have it so Ive put a three on it-for the quality,I just have one question. How could some people be so amateurs to buy a PC game immediately after its release, especially, when you know that what kind of game X3 really is.Remember this, you shouldnt buy games immeadiately after their releases, because anything can happen during the time when the game is the most famous-after its release. They will try to fix the problems, maybe there would be a new game edition/datadisk to it,lots of patches and I dont know what else.....YOU CERTAINLY HAVE TO WAIT,and this is a good tip for all games. The other peoples reviews made me write this, because many of you wrote problems about tutorials, graphics problems etc. These can be solved through a patch or a new edition/datadisk as mentioned above.
I wont write about quality, because as I said,I dont have the game yet,but Im gonna get it.And almost anybody who likes space sims or trading, sci-fi or not, should try this game.Whether demo or the full version,i think that you should give it a try.

I don't understand why people dislike it

disregard all the negative reviews, as 1.4 fixes all the bugs and problems everyone was complaining about. X3 is now an improvement over X2, similar, but bigger systems, more systems, more functions, etc. an expansion is also planned. if you are really concerned about bugginess, go to the forums at egosoft.com and see how no one ever seems to complain about the game, except occasionally for the fact that the publisher decided to use starforce. sorry, but I cannot write a review describing the game itself, but the X2 reviews can be consulted, and there is a demo at the egosoft site

I have never found a game that let me use my mind so much. The graphics are great, the gameplay is interesting and stays that way. The GOD engine keeps the game fresh. Now with the upgrade to version 2.0 the majority of the bugs are now fixed. Also the new Player Headquarters lets you repair and manufacture your own ships.

Great game

Great game. I've been playing as a trader, and the dynamic economy is excellent. You aren't able to continually run between two or three places, as in some other games (Freelancer). I haven't played the story much, but from what I've read it sounds a lot like the story in Freelancer. If you were to play this as a solely a space combat game, however, it might get a little old. There are only so many ways you can dress up a "go here and kill this" mission.

dont try to hide things on my PC

In my opinion the Rootkit/Starforce copy protection goes far beyond copy protection and flirts with being malicious software that is hidden on your computer when X3 is installed. Just Google Rootkit/Starforce and read a bit about what they are putting on your computers.

Good game, expansive and deep

This is probably the only game i have ever played where by the end you can actually end up 'owning' the universe. Working your way up from 1 ship and little money you can build a fleet of capital ships, space stations, haulers, freighters, formations of fighters and escort. The only thing it doesnt have is a 'death star' type ship, but i wouldnt at all be surprised to see one in future patches. You own these ships all at the same time too, and can hire (computer controlled) pilots to fly them for you while your off doing what you want to do. No leaving a ship to sit idle in the dock while you fly the other.

Most problems that arise in the game stem from an unstable system to begin with. This game is very high end, and will stress your system to the breaking point. If your system is already marginal this game will have freezes/bugs, but its pretty much the game is pointing out problems that were already there befor it was installed. I never had one problem running the game, and i have no where near what would be considered a 'high end' system. (AMD 3000+, 1g ram, nVidia GeForce 6200). Although i cant run it on the high graphic settings, i never had any problems wit freezing or erroring even befor installing the patches.

The only real big beef i have with the game is the star force copy right protection they put on it. I would never by another game that had star force on it no matter how good the game is. 99% of the games install problems are directly related to starforce. Thats why i gave it the 4 star over all instead of 5 star. If you need 1 reason not to buy the game i would say "starforce" - it is truly garbage. But that would be the only reason i could think of not to get this game.

This game is just a Myriad of everything you could expect out of a great space game. This game is truely an original-nothing comes close at all. I know because I played just about everthing. As far as the poor people who wrote earlier-This is the explanation-I asked someone on the egosoft forum site before I received my copy:

My Question:

I don't have my copy yet, but I've been hearing quite a few players in the US either not being able to install this game: claiming that certain installation files are missing, corrupting their OS, or just simply not receiving all 6 of the CDs in the box. Has anyone else had this problem?

The response:

Best guess is that it's related to Enlight having trouble at the disc fab...

Enlight was having issues shortly before the release date, which pushed the date for US copies.

With the UK DVDs, you don't hear much about problems like this... it was mostly complaints (and trouble) about StarForce.

although I live in the US... i'm glad i bought the UK DVD version ((...)had it for a little while.)... luckily, i don't have problems with SF.

I bought my copy from amazon and it works like a charm.
