Best fighting game for PSP

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3
Date: November 09, 2006
Author: Amazon User

This is in my opinion the slickest fighting game so far for PSP.
PROS:
1. Great graphics, great resolution.
2. Nice application speed even with high rendering effects.
3. The attack combos are awesome. I am virtually indestructive when playing with "Li" (One of the many fighting characters).
4. Network play allows to play against real opponents.

Cons:
1. To master the combo attacks, it take a while to use the correct key sequences with right timing but it is worth it.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection is awesome. The gameplay is amazing, and it is by far the best fighting game on the PSP.

Graphics: 10/10
There is no blur in the movement, the environments are all 3D and destroyable, and the characters are done crisply and clearly.

Gameplay: 10/10
With an updated story mode from Tekken 5, it makes the game all the more interesting. There are also different bonus games in addition to story mode, Tekken Bowling is the best. Also, there is a new Tekken Dojo feature, which is very similar to the arcade version of Tekken 5.

Controls: 9/10
The controls are a little weird at first, especially because it is so hard to hit buttons at the same time for different combos. However, as the game progresses, it is easy to get used to.

Overall: 10/10
Definitely the best fighting game on PSP, and excellent graphics, Tekken: Dark Resurrection is an excellent addition to the PSP.

Finally, a real achievement for the PSP

Tekken Dark Resurrection is the first game since the debut of the PSP to "wow" me. It has unbelievably crisp graphics, in fact it looks almost as nice as Tekken 5 for PS2 on a similar sized display. The sound effects are also along the lines of part 5, where they were given a little extra depth. The music is also phenominal, and really shines on a decent set of earphones. There are a slew of game modes, in addition to bonus games (Tekken Bowl is back!), and a really fun customization system, where you can alter players colors and add lots of unusual accessories. Most importantly, the gameplay is as precise as ever, although it will take a few rounds to adjust to the PSPs slightly more cramped controller.

This is not only the best looking PSP game thus far, but also the very best fighter ever released for a portable system by a wide margin. If you own a PSP, this game is essential to your collection.

Excellent game, i love the tekken series and this one works out very well with many options to play, either wireless or alone but its always better to defeat people :)

The game has practice modes where you can do just do, practice before playing for real and ranking yourself, wish it had all the moves in that section though because you end up going online looking for all the other moves for the character you are playing at gamefaqs or any other place.

An Impressive and Fun Fighting Game

My goal in buying a PSP was to have several options for entertaining myself on long trips - whether reading a book, listening to my iPod, or playing a video game. With this in mind, I wanted to buy games for my PSP that I could constantly come back to, but also readily put down when I needed to. In Tekken: Dark Resurrection, I found the perfect combination of portability and enjoyability. From the start, the player is able to play tens of characters from the Tekken universe, and can use them in any number of modes, from story mode to two-player, to many others. One of the most challenging and interesting modes allows the player to participate in tournaments in "dojos," allowing them to increase in ranking and fight more and more difficult enemies. This is a highly satisfying mode, and allows the character to generate a large number of points, which can be used to customize the characters' costumes and accessories (these points can be earned in other modes as well). The game's graphics are also impressive, and the gameplay and controls are responsive and quick. But for all of this, Tekken: DR is still a game that can be played in short intervals, and is thus perfect for those travelers who want a little fighting game action on the go. I highly recommend this game to all fans of the new generation of fighiting games, whether they're on the road or at home.

Tekken 5+

This is a near exact port of Tekken 5 for the PS2. It's fun, it's entertaining, and it's easy to pick up anywhere. There are a few draw-backs, though.

The story-mode is the exact same thing as Tekken 5, with the addition of the new characters. If you've completed the story for a character on 5 for the PS2, you'll have to re-hear the whole thing. Which just isn't that much fun.

They also dumbed-down the final boss. In 5, it took me about ten minutes to get the hang of how to kill him, an in the mean-time, I had lost twice. In this game, if you lose to Jinpatchi, I don't know what to say to you. He's horribly under-powered, and hardly worth everything you've gone through to get to him.

The "Ad-Hoc" mode is fun. But the wait times are NOT. My brother owns a PSP as well, and he does not have this game. We decided to test how well we could play against each other, so I "sent" the game to him via "Ad-Hoc" and waited. And waited. And waited. We were sitting less than two feet away from each other, and it took five minutes to get one match going. After I'd beaten him he wanted another match, and so we had to wait another five minutes for it to transfer.

The customization in Dark Resurrection is fun. Every character has new hats/accessories/auras and colors that they can use. There are also multiple costumes for each character, though I haven't unlocked them yet. The arcade mode is a little repetitive, though fun if you're just looking to button-mash for no reason.

Easy to beat, but well worth the money, Dark Resurrection is for any Tekken fan.

This game made me want to drop all the other games I'd bought for the PSP. Even thought I previously "hated" Tekken for its linear, choppy fighting and cheaply balanced characters, this title takes the gold. All characters can be mastered, and when mastered are extremely volatile. The moves vary, and there is plenty of customization. I could go over many more features, but just buy it.

You'll have fun with it.

This is by far the best psp game I've ever played. The graphics are beautiful and flawless while keeping the speed needed for such a fighting game. The loading screens are almost non existant, it just shows the two characters with a vs. thing in the middle for 2 seconds before the match begins. If you are looking for a game which can be played quickly when you only have a minute to spare, look no farther. Also if you need to put the psp in sleep mode for a second, it will turn back on instantly right where you left off when you're ready to resume.

GO BUY THIS GAME YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!

GRAPHICS, LOADING, AND FUN CAN'T BE TOUCHED

A must buy!!!
