Guess I'm crazy to hate this one too.....

I have to say upfront that I hated this game! It's boring. It sounds like a much better story than it actually is. Most of the time, you're just wandering around trying to figure out just what the authors of this game are trying to get you to do. Some things are ridiculously easy, while others make little sense and and time-consuming and frustrating.

The graphics are decent but rather dark throughout most of the game.

You simply don't get 'involved' with this game. It doesn't hold your interest. It's the only game I've ever stopped playing because I didn't care how it ended.....it's that boring! Save your money.

Good promiseat the start, lackluster followthrough

The premise of the game seemed great - finding the proper offerings to appease a centuries-old curse. Even the puzzles were of a decent calibre, though nothing overly taxing. Some of the puzzle for me was figuring out just how to use anything to begin with, as there was no instruction on how to do so ("When you get this specific cursor, call up your inventory and click on what you would like to use").

That's when the giant, walking, french toast stick showed up.

Yes, your ultimate nemesis, the Sentry Stone ("He's watching you....he's after you!"), looks more like a blown-up Burger King breakfast snack. Of course, he does have the power to incinerate you, so I guess that's something. Just run away, and then, poof! He's gone!

And it just went downhill from there. The 'acting' is nothing more than 3 or 4 still shots of people in different poses shifting randomly (America's Best Eyeware commercials, anyone?). The graphics are okay, but nothing to write home about. And I swear, if that girl galled me to ramble on about the thing following her and watching her ONE more time, I was about to find her MYSELF and torch her! Not being able to stop things like that was a little annoying.

Like I said, the puzzles were kind of clever, but the clues for them were often a little too close together and gave the WHOLE answer practically...very little to figure out or reason. I will be perfectly honest - I did look at a walkthrough to find the location of ONE ingredient for one of the offerings...a little half-inch by half-inch square that practically blends into the background is kind of tough to spot in a game where mostly EVERYTHING is dark and/or a repetetive forest print.

Finished it in a sitting, wasn't overly impressed.

Am I crazy to hate this game?

Everyone else reviewing this product seems quite happy with this game, but to me, interaction with characters is the most imporant thing. There were no good graphics in this game when it came to people. the scenery is great, I must say, but whenever there was someone talking to you, it was a photo of a person with voiceover work. So lame!

Fun, but that's it?

Atmospheric and spooky, at least at first. I like this kind of game, but found that I certainly didn't have to try very hard to uncover clues and solve mini puzzles even before the real mystery presented itself! Before I knew it, half the game was solved with very little effort. I thought the story and setting were intriguing, though the ending was a bit abrupt and unsatisfying. I enjoy a good lengthy hunt, so was basically disappointed with the ease I was able to piece together the overall "mystery" and solve it. This may have something to do with the small area avaialable to search since the entire setting is fairly confined. Though I rarely judge a game by its length alone, I must say that just as I was starting to get interested in the mystery and characters, it was over- I honestly couldn't believe it. Some of the inventory items weren't even necessary to finding the intended clue! I'm not completely disappointed, but think I'll just pass this on to my ten year old who may have more fun with it.

Does not have 360 degree turn...

I've played Myst games and Scratches, and although the first 2 Myst games were without the 360degrees turn, Myst 3 and 4 had 360 degree turn in the game. The reason the first 2 Myst games did not have 360 turn was that they came out in the early 1990's. This game did not have that, and I was expecting it to have it, mainly because its a recently new game that probably came out last year or so. Another thing is I just didn't care for this so I returned it for a refund. Sorry to be the only one here who didn't pick up interest in this one.

engaging adventure game

Creative gameplay doesn't necessarily require a big budget as this game proves. This engaging adventure expands an existing megalithic monument to a mystic game realm, where you have to solve the disappearances in a small hammock somewhere in the British country side. The puzzles are logical and advance the game. Although the murderous entity may be surprising and a little clumsily presented, it is fun until the end. Then just visit the real sites that acted as the basis for the locations in the game.

Not the greatest...

The enjoyment factor of this game depends on how much you imagine yourself "in" the game. If you can imagine yourself walking around the actual environments, then the game might feel a bit spooky and you can appreciate it for what it's worth. If you can't see past some of the game's silliness, then you might not enjoy it too much.

The game is a simple point-and-click game. Puzzles aren't too hard, and you can probably finish the game in one day. The graphics are pretty good, but I think they shouldv'e been better considering how long it took to install all the data on my computer. The story is, again, a bit silly, or "cheesy", but overall the game is a pretty good adventure. I I don't know if it is worth 20 bucks, but you can always resell it after you play it. :)

Falling short of a few modern standards

I love adventure games. Games that are cerebral and taunting. Those puzzles that tug at the corners of your mind. I like the indy nature of this game, but I think it is lacking some of the necessary standards for today's adventure games: mostly panoramic cameras. The click to view all directions still feels as flighty and confusing as it did in the 90's. Panoramic camera has done so much for the genre. Another problem I see is being able to view so much that is useless. There are several areas where you can zoom in and objects look like they could be important, but they are useless within the context of the game: Like the random Jigsaw puzzle in the cafe. The tone of this game is nice and some of the inventory puzzles were 'ok', but overall I think it is lacking substance. The endings were disappointing, but no adventure game I've ever played has had a stellar ending, but there was no sense of finality. I would love to see more from this developer because I think there is a lot of potential, but as for this outing, it would be lower on my priority list.

Entertaining, yet pointless!

I gave this game 3 stars because, although it was entertaining finding clues and such, the ending and goal/purpose of the game was not clear. The graphics were beautiful and so was the music but the storyline could use some help. I don't recommend buying this product for the full price, but rather borrowing it from someone else if you really want to play it.

Not as good as its description

This game left a lot to be desired. First off, it is supposed to be a "horror" game but about the only real horror in the entire game is the "mess" left in the kitchen. Other than that, there really is very little about the game to put one on the "edge of one's seat". In fact, at several points in the game, I found myself laughing out loud at some of the things that were (I believe) meant to be disturbing but instead just came across as being "hokey". The story line was not too awfully bad but for the most part it seemed as if they had a story and were unable to come up with the goods to create a decently frightening atmosphere, not to mention some decent puzzles. Mostly, you are just stumbling around in the dark (literally) and travelling in circles. It could have been infinitely better. Would I recommend this game to another person? Probably not; that is unless they were looking for a good laugh or two.
