First i would like to state to our UK inquirer about the cost. For the american version the cost is roughly ranging from $15 a month to $10 a month. If you choose monthly it does cost $15 a month and Mythic WILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE YOU! Some people seem to miss that when they sign up and pay for it. But if you choose the 6 month subscription it comes out to roughly $10 a month ($60 one time)
Second, I have been playing this game for sometime and have found that it is highly addictive. I tell people who are interested that the world of DOAC is similiar to online chat....but with combat. The world of DAOC itself is a vast one, but add in the different personalities of the players you work with and compete against and it brings this game into a whole new level. You can play this game like any other and not step out into the Frontiers and still enjoy new things, or you can attempt to outwit and out match opponents from two different realms as you try to storm their keeps. I recommend this game to anyone who is looking for something different. And make sure to pick up the Trials of Atlantis as well. It's added a whole new concept to the world of Dark Age Of Camelot.

I came back!

I worte a bad review on this game a few months ago, but now with all the anti-cheating patches mythic is coming out with, I give it 5 stars.. The new frontier looks sweet, and they did a A+ job revitalizing the rvr aspect. So mythic wins my subscription fees agian! Only down side is, there customer service needs to be improved. Also bringing servers down during morning hours is a drag:(

Mythic Entertainment will continue to bill your credit card!

This is just to serve as a warning to those of you who create an account for Dark Age of Camelot. You will be given two choices: 1. Renew for one month @12.95 2. Renew for three months for a reduced price. Well, I opted for the first method and wrongly figured that I would be billed for just a month at a time. Nope! Mythic Entertainment will continue to bill you month after month which I discovered after-the-fact on my credit statement. I had to call their Virginia office to cancel and they are not pleasant to deal with.

My rating is based on the amount of money this game ended up costing me versus the level of enjoyment the game provided. Game enjoyment minus amount of $$ spent = 1 star

Great game!! A little addicting

It's a great game, and Shrouded Isles only add's so much more to the experience. With more than 1500 players per 17 servers, there is always someone to ask help for, or someone to group with. The game does have some downsides, like lag (if your on an older system). Majority the game is great, replay value is way up there. The only thing I can think of that is bad about it other than lag on older systems is that it is EXTREMELY ADDICTING! Lol, anyways it's a great buy.

I will be awaiting you all, on hibernia Merlin or hibernia Bors servers.

Shake them haters off

I downloaded the 7 day trial a few days ago and i'm level 10. I'm new to the game but I must say this game is outstanding! I have been playing constantly, it's hard to go to work in the afternoon when all you want to do is play this game. I was playing Everquest for 4 years, and Recently Lineage 2. I have quit everquest, and am going to be cancelling my billing on Lineage as soon as I get this package!. I cannot wait to play with the expansion, I love this game and in fact, My first night on the game, I got helped by a complete stranger. She helped me learn the controls and how to do everything! People are very nice on this game, I really recommend this game over many of the game i've played.

Very Fun!!

This game is soo much fun and so easy to play. # realms with different races and classes makes it like 3 different games. Mythic has wonderful customer support if you ever need assistance. The quests are great too!!

this game was great until toa was released

now it's just a bad eq clone riddled with timesinks 9hr mob spawns fighting for camps etc..

pvp used to be really good. you had a feeling that if you won/lost a fight, it was because you outplayed or were outplayed. now winning losing is just a function of whoever subjected themselves to the largest number of timesinks.

Without doubt, the best game ever

I am an avid gamer, and in all my gaming experience, this is the best game I have ever played- you continually get updates from Mythic Entertainment, and the support is pretty good- very fun, and very addicting :P

Overated

This game is overated! Some of these online websites that review games are so biased toward games. The games that focus mainly on hack and slash seem always to score much higher than the games that actually have some depth. I have tried a few Online Games and I have come to the conclusion Ultima Online is by far the best there is. EVE and WWII Online are also very good online games. This game really annoys me in many ways. I think this game is for younger audiences. Everything seems too childish in this game to me just like Everquest. The penalty for dying is not very harsh. Item insurance I think is a dumb idea. When a character dies they SHOULD lose everything. Characters in DAOC automatically gain spells as they level. That really spoils the game. It is a lot more interesting when you have to buy spells and it cost regeants(special ingredients needed to cast a spell) to cast spells. I am sick of experience based RPG games. Ultima Online made leveling a lot more interesting when it did away entirely with the experience system and instead made a skill based system. In my opinion this is more practical. The Player vs. Player system in DAOC I think is one of the worst I have seen. Ultima Online's Siege Perilous shard is still by far the best for Player vs. Player combat. Eve online and WWII online also have excellent Player vs. player combat systems. The crafting/trade skills are still limited compared to what characters can do in Ultima Online. Ultima Online still has the best economy system in my opinion. Ultima Online has a much more broad list of professions characters can persue than in DAOC. UO's treasure hunting & theif profession is unmatched. Although DAOC doesn't lock players into a profession as much as Everquest, it is not nearly as flexible as Ultima Online. In Ultima Online if a grandmaster fighter decides he wants to be a mage or a barb, or anyting else he can do so. Characters never really have to start over from scratch in Ultima Online if they don't like their profession. DAOC its flexible up to level 5, big deal thats only a day of work at most.
