When i heard that whey were going to make a sequal to Mario RPG i was totaly pumped up man. Then i found out that it's not going to be a direct sequal and the graphics look like some one rolled them over with a steam roller. being the mario fan thatI am i bought the game anyway and it totaly rocked. let me tell ya the rpos of the game first.

the stroyline is very good, it's basicly the same as all the other mario games ya know bowser kidnaps peach and you gotta save her. only this time bowser is like invenciable with this star rod thing and you got to get the "seven stair spirits" to beat him.
The graphics are pretty nice to. it's like a cartoon mario background so don't expect any 3D stuff from Mario 64, but it's still good.
the SFX and music are pretty cool too each envirment has its on type of music ya dig?

Cons

the RPG fighting system has kind of been toned down for kids i guess. I mean the finaly boss only has 99 HP so anyone who has played RPG's will know that that is kind of low.
WEll to tell you the truth the only thing i didn't really like about the game was its weak fighting system, but besides taht everything else totaly rocks.

It's an RPG, BUT......

It's somehow REALLY fun!!!! I usually HATE THE **** OUT OF RPG'S, like LOTR third age (which was an unbelievable let-down, since I thought it was like the amazing return of the king). Every time I play it, I look forward to the new varieties of companions that join you later. I will admit that, at first, I was sad about the battle system, but soon I got the hang of it ad it became really fun. It's ironic how games like this make systems as early as 1st or 2nd gen systems better than 7th gen. And to the 7th gen(wii 360 ps3) executives, GET RID OF THE ******* ANIME RPGS!! THEY ARE REALLY STUPID!

Im a Mario expert and this like Super Mario RPG:Legend of the seven stars!
Ill tell you a tip for those who are stuck on finding the switch:
Go to the 4th bush you see! Or 2nd!

N64 doesn't have much for RPG's but this game surely makes up for it

I got this game in 07 trying to see if N64 has a real RPG that was good. Zelda is kind of and kind of not an RPG. This is suprisingly interesting from the get go and then followed through with fanatastic gameplay. If you like RPG's you will certainly not put this game down until you finish it. Because its Paper Mario and the game is 2d and 3d in a bunch of places (which is good) it almost doesn't feel like its an N64 game graphically. Even still the gameplay takes you in and doesn't let go, even RPG's can sometimes be short, but this game can take you (depending on your skill and effort) anywhere from 20 to 50 hours of gameplay.
Another thing that I should say is the fact that the replay value of this game is high. You'll have alot of fun redoing everthing.
Finally is done in a cross between NES Mario and N64 Mario so you just get both of best. A great game and I am currently replaying it again. One game that will not dissapoint.

Be prepared for a commitment

I picked up Paper Mario at the beginning of the summer because I was bored, and looking for a good video game to play. I got exactly what I was looking for - an engaging game that took about 25 hours to complete and that I literally couldn't put down sometimes. If you have school obligations or other huge responsibilities in your life, I seriously wouldn't recommend this because you will spend a few days constantly engrossed in the Paper Mario world.

If you played Super Mario RPG, you will know exactly what to expect - the structure and gameplay are both very similar to the Super Nintendo game, albeit improved greatly. The battle system is unique and the pacing is perfectly timed. For any fan of RPGs (or of Mario games) this is a great one.

The Best Game. Ever.

Man this game just ROCKS!!!! It is very fun and interactive and addictive. Mario is 2D, like everything else in the game, and that just adds to it!!!!! It has a great storyline and many classic Mario characters!! (Toads, Yoshi's, Koopa's ect.) Ive beat it. I never get tired of playing it over and over!!!! It is just the best vid game ever!!! LOVE IT!!!! Mario Rocks!! Paper Mario the thousand year door is GREAT too!!! Right up there with the first Paper Mario!!!!!! In Paper Mario, i have just started a file where I am going to collect as many star peices as possibe, and coins, and star points and badges, and BP (badge points) I am also going to try to answer all of the Silk bug's quiz questions, and do all of the old koopa's things in Koopa Village, and as many letters deliverd as possible. I also love this game when you can travel from town to town. I just love playing this game, great replay value! I'll NEVER get sick of this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Game is by far, the GREATEST Video Game made in the history of Video Games. I will play it for many years to come and then some!!

I have had the BEST experiences with this game. It is VERY fun! Here's how the storyline goes:

The Seven Star Spirits weild a treasure named the Star Rod. It is capable of granting any wish. They get their energy from the prayers of the Toads. The Star Rod is used by the Star Spirits to grant good wishes.

One day, Bowser decided to steal the Star Rod because the Star Spirits weren't granting his wishes. After he stealed it, he used the Star Rod to imprison the seven Star Spirits and make himself the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom by (very predictably) kidnapping Princes Peach. Mario tries to save her, but Bowser easily defeats him with the Star Rod.

Mario must rescue the seven Star Spirits bucause they weild another power- the Star Beam. When the seven Star Spirits are gathered, they can negate the effects of the Star Rod by using the Star Beam. Only then can Mario and Bowser have the ultimate showdown.

Unfortunately, the seven Star Spirits are being held in individual places very far apart. As if that were bad enough, each is guarded by a VERY powerful boss.

So, the twist in this game is that you are not trying to rescue 1 person, but 8 people (7 Star Spirits and Princess Peach)! During the adventure, you gain better hammers and better boots which make you deal more damage. Also, you gain different partners, each with several attacks. Additionaly, Mario can equip badges. When you gain 100 Star Points (you earn them from defeating enemies), you go up a level. Then you can choose: upgrade HP by 5 points, upgrade FP (points to use special moves) by 5 points, or upgrade BP (Badge Points, used for equipping badges) by 3 points.

Fortunately, when you rescue a Star Spirit, you can use Star Energy to call on them for help in a battle. They do things like restore HP/FP and weaken enemies.

You can see why I think why this game is SO fun!

Easy to start and truly fun to play.

This game was fun from beginning to end. I liked the different parts of the world with the different unique challenges to over come. The story line was great along with the way the game looked, and how you could interact with it. Like being able to go wherever you wanted to in doing side quests or your favorite place to level up. I cannot think of a single thing the makers could have done better. Nothing was so hard you needed to have special finger action skills, which for me is a relief. The music and sound in the game was fun as always. I can't see anyone not liking this game, really.
