I think if you are into paintball you wouldn't like it that much to me it is a waste of money. You would be better off playing.

Why the hell would you but this?

You got to be a damn wuss to play this game just because you cant play the actual game. They screwed up the guns and they look gay. Instead of playing this stupid game just buy a cheap gun and play the actual game its a lot better then playing on a tv.

not worth the money or the effort

Coming from a man who has been playing paintball for 5 years, this game was a bitter disappointment. It was way to easy and there wasn't anywhere near as many accessories you would expect from a paintball game. Please don't waste your time or money on this product, borrow or rent first , and you will understand what I am saying.

Havent played online yet

This game is really fun but gets old fast. Havent played online. Sure it would be better.

Great Game, but the new one (MAXD) is even better.

This game is great, but it's the old 2004 version. Look for the new one with "MAXD" in the title. It's WAY better.

A step in the right direction

all in all this game was not bad. it would not be worth the usual $50 that xbox games cost but you can puchase it now for $30 the gameplay isn't that great and the game have verry little depth but the concept is great. hopefully this game opens up some eyes at activision or EA and these publishers creat a game with suficient funding. although this game can't compare with Black hawlk down or halo 2 the gamplay is unique and supriseingly fun for $30 this game is a good buy...

lets just hope their's a better funded sequel....

Better than expected

This is a type of game where the fun factor increases as you play more and a lot more. At first, I felt the game play is a bit slow--due to not so good equipment/gears, the player skill levels, player's partner's levels, etc. Once you can improve some of these aspects, it becomes better to play.
In the singel mod game, you can play 19 tournaments in 20 locations, with 179 field layouts. The game claims having 145 pieces of licensed gear, 39 real life players with 14 Pro players. In Multiplayer mode it supports 14-player head-to-head.
It's VERY easy to learn. I've been playing plenty of FPS games (currently, Ghost Recon 2 and Halo 2) and controller setting is no different from the usual FPS setups. Aiming is a little different because the quality of your gun and equipment changes the accuracy, velocity and distance of shooting. No worries, it's still easy to hit targets. Targets (your opponents) wear nice, bright outfit. It's super easy to spot enemies unlike Ghost Recon2.
The tutorial takes you through the basics of getting started-moving, shooting, jump-diving, switching the gun from left hand to right hand, and refilling paint. In fact, you can skip the tutorial, b/c the first game itself is the tutorial. Once done with tutorial, you begin the tournaments. It's been pretty tough for me to get used to the game play. Part of it is that in the beginning, you have very little skills and amateur partners. With this combination, it's tough to beat good opponents. Once you win some tournaments, it gets more interesting. With the prize money, you can upgrade your gears and eventually get better partners. To improve and to gain better gun/gear is an incentive to play a lot of single player mode. I've played the multiplayer mode on Xbox live only once. The game that I was playing online teams up with other online player (as your partner) agaist your opponents. Perhaps because all of us online were strangers, communication was poor. No strategic decisions were made. We went around shooting. I could see that it'd be more fun to play with friends as your teammates. I wish more of my friends would get this game. It's a nice change of pace from playing recent FPS games (GR2 and Halo2). This is a good non-violent game for those reluctant to buy first person shooter games for your kids.

A great paintball game.

I got this game for Christmas and it has been highly addictive. I started out sucking quite horribly until I got used to the controls. I like that at the start there is a walk-through tutorial on how to do everything. Once you get used to it, the controls are very easy and smooth. You can actually do things like they were meant to be done on the field.
I'll now break my review down into some of the aspects of the game:

Equipment: They did a pretty good job licensing and rendering a good variety of gear. I like that they put stats of everything so you can see if the certain item is better than the item you are currently using. The only thing that annoys me is that your team mates can have guns that you cannot.

Gameplay: Being an avid paintballer, I find this game extremely addicting. I played it for over six hours right when I got it and have been frequently visiting my xbox ever since. The game does a wonderful job of simulating the sounds and action of paintball. You can hear the paintballs whizzing by your head and the characteristic pop of a paintball hitting a sup' air bunker. Great stuff. I also love the game's fast pace. In the beginning when you suck, the computer also sucks making you feel good about yourself. The game gets progressively more intense and you start to find your groove. I now have every match down to a science.

Cheat Meter: I hear a lot of bad comments about the cheat meter. Yes it is not very morally correct. Yes I hate cheaters and think they negatively affect the sport of paintball, however; In the game it would be five times more difficult if the cheat meter were not there. I get hit usually at least once per game and thanks to the cheat meter, I can stay in and get some more eliminations. The game would be too frusterating otherwise. I think they could've made the cheat meter more challenging or eliminate it altogether without sacrificing its benefits: Let there be a random chance of ball bounces, etc. Ref determines if you are hit or if it is a bounce.

Fields: Excellent. Very diverse field selection. Makes play fun since there are tons of different fields.

Music: Not many songs, but very luckily they allowed you to be able to upload your own. Excellent.

Multiplayer: I'm quite disappointed that there is no split screen, but it would make cheating very easy (looking at your opponent's screen). I haven't played on xbox live yet but it should be very fun.

General Impression: I can tell that this game wasn't high up on activision's priorities since it doesn't quite have the depth of other games--but--being a paintballer and appreciating all things paintball related, I find this game to be quite satisfactory, especially considering that all the other paintball games to date have sucked.

AWESOME GAME, NEEDS SPLITSCREEN!!!!

I love this game and for parents looking for a bloodless, non-violent alternative to Halo 2 can find it right here. It's definitely not your average first person shooter. It combines everything that's great about the sport of paintball into a game. (except for the cheating) The huge letdown that kept this game from 5 stars is the lack of splitscreen multiplayer. Come on Activision! What fun is a shooter game if you can't shoot your friends?!?

Rated on a paintball scale, it is the best paintball game to date. Rated on a fps scale, it definitely holds its own. I fully appreciate a game like Halo 2, but I think this game deserves at least a look at. At the least, rent it and see for yourself.
