An RTS that truly test your intelligence.

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 0

The game is a retelling of a mass popular Chinese story that has been told hundreds of generations. And the developer made a huge effort to make it appealing to Westerners like us. But they've done something none of other RTS had done before, and they've done them right, and realistic. The graphics, the sound effects and voice over (I know some Chinese, and I can tell you that what those little soldiers said were reall cool) are all great. But two most impressive things are the resource management and millitary management.

You need to collet many different resources, which sounds very hard. But the developers made what would be complex job easier, because your workers are the smartest of all RTS. Once assign them a job, they do it forever. You don't need to tell them re-plant the farm and go find trees somewhere else. And the fact you can actually produce some reall stuff out of raw materials makes the game much more realistic.

The military management includes hero system, which is a lot more real the the hero effects of the Age of the Empire. Think about it, when you have a legendary hero of some sort in your army, of course your army will fight better. And the developers are so smart to integrate this in the game, and almost all heors were real people. And the supply line for soldiers out in th battle field is brilliant. It makes the game way more challenging and gives both sides of the players more room to use strategies. Unlike many RTS games, you can simply win by outnumber your enemy, you can't do it here because a large number of army means a huge usage of food. And your enemy can destroy your supply line at ease. So it forces you to really think and plan before an attack. It may get hard sometimes, but I enjoy it. And there are always cheat codes...

Over all, it is a very challenging game that will put you on a test - especially if you play on internet against other players.

This game was a good strategy game. It was challenging to try to not lose your kingdom while you also had to provide food and wine for all of your army. I think that this is a good game for ages 9-15, because it doesn't have a lot of blood and it is a challenge to the young mind.

Compared to all the other stradegy games I jown this is the worst of them all, but that doesnt mean its bad. I fit was the only game i owned, i would play it. It doesnt even require that much stradegy. There is one impossible part, and i mean impossible, when you play as cao cao, you get to around to something like the 5th mission, and you start off having to take over a castle, but they just dont give you enough men to to such a thing, (...) my brother beat the game as Liu bei. he liked the game, but not as much as the other names we have for PC stradegy.

Don't buy Fate of the Dragon!

Fate of the Dragon is a definite waste of money. For RTS fans of Starcraft, and Age of Empires, it as an even bigger waste of money. Fate of the Dragon seems like an exact copy of the major RTS games out there, with a couple of new features added on. There are resources to collect, armies to build, and once you play the game once or twice, you've played it forever. The repetitveness of the game is mind-boggling. With only three different troop types, maps that look all exactly the same, and the same stupid music over and over again, how can the game be fun after a couple of days? The graphics need work, and the battles are worse. Because you're so limited in the troops you have, all you do is put your troops into battle- unlike Starcraft where there are dozens of unit types and Age of Empires where you have to use your brain for what units to use for a certain situation. Whatever you do, don't buy Fated of the Dragon. You'll be wasting your time, and your money.

Sameness

This game is your typical get resources, raise army, squash enemy type of RTS. What makes it differant is the non-European setting, and a few new wrinkles like having to keep your army supplied in the field and somewhat intelligent peasants. The game however is a little repetative. Most of the levels feel the same as do most battles. I finished the game, but I only found it to be so so in a crowded field of really good games. If you have played everything else, the $10 price tag makes it worth a pick up. If you like the game, they did make a sequel entitled--Dragon Throne Battle of Red Cliffs.

Wonderful game!

I don't know why so many other people love this game. Personally, I have also played many other RTS like them. I always love the "Three Kingdom" period in China -- which is what 'Fate of Dragon' about. Thus, I bought 'Fate of Dragon' the moment I saw it in a store. However, I am very much disappointed. The game comes no where close to StarCraft, Age of King, Red Alert 2 or Emperor: Battle for Dune. It is the WOREST computer game I have ever own (on the other hand, I have only 10 pc games). The game surely offer many tons of upgrade, but you pretty mcuh upgrade all of them anyway. Since there are so many upgades, I can't keep track of them (must be 50+ of upgrade). Please don't buy it. It is a horrible game in my opinion. Nevertheless, the game graphic likes pretty good.

BORING game!!

Well, all i can say for this game is that it has nice graphic. But there are only three types of basic military. Four if u add the heroes. The heroes are very annoying. Not to mention they're basically all the same. If u want to try this game i suggest u download the demo version, which has all the units that is available in the retailed version. So playing the demo is the same as playing the retailed version...I warn u, DO NOT buy this game, u can spend the money on other games which are much more fun and enjoyable!

Play R3K

If you wish to play a historical simulation based on the Three Kingdoms Period get Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Its the original and still the best. Fate of the Dragon plays like Age of Empires with a more in depth Chinese campaign. All around an ok RTS, but not innovative and certainly not as in depth as R3K.
