Maybe I'm stupid

I couldn't make heads or tails of what was going on. I've read through the instructions about 20 times and I could answer any random question you could throw at me from the material within, it seems like a guy with that much recall of the subject matter would be able to translate it into practical ability during the game. I can equip items, I can use them, I can tell guys where to go and what to do, I can reload a weapon and fire it, I can swap things among team members but I can't seem to shoot a single thing.

The instructions say that the L2 button will cycle between targets but it obviously doesn't work for me. I can't ever get the crosshairs to lock up on anything or the guys in my squad take care of the enemy long before I can. I can get the crosshairs locked on what is really far away and might be an enemy, but you can't tell what you're shooting at. Might be a tree, might be a sniper... you can't tell at all. The fine "zoom" aim or first person aim sucks really bad. You can hit things easier than just using the L2 button but its still very, very hard to hit something, and you can't see anything going on around you while you're using that aiming method.

I liked the fact that you can shoot your own guys and wound them accidentally, it added a realistic effect to the game, but that was as far as the things I liked went. I tried playing the same mission over and over again for about two hours and I didn't get the hang of it or enjoy it remotely.

I would for sure advise you rent this before you dump the money on it. I did, and even though I just rented it, I'm absolutely sickened I spent six bucks on it.

Paint this Mutha BLACK!

Conflict has the best war game/fighter games on the market to me. And I'm not really a big fan of games outside of sports. But this 3rd installment of the series is gold. It takes you back to the time of Vietnam as you should know by the title. Its the best Vietnam themed game on the market. I hear some people complain over the controls and such.....but like any game it takes time to learn the them and once you do that switching guns and getting health packs become second nature. I do it without even thinking about it because I'm so used to the series. It has a turtorial, use it! Go thru it twice if you have to. What makes this one different from the other 2 before it is its set in mostly jungle backgrounds which require a different stratagy then being in a desert. You never know whats coming at you from where and your always on the edge. You have to lookout for traps and such because you just can't run out guns a blazing or your dead. This series hasn't been known much for its graphics, but come on, when your dodging bullets in a game do you really think to yourself "Wow, he's kinda choppy and the sky isn't really sky blue."? Give me a break. The graphics are good enough for you to know whats what. The soundtrack is kick-ass and I even listen to those songs now and people think I lost my mind. I just tell them I've been thru the "dogs of war"! LOL! If you take your time and and don't let the controls fustrate you then you will truely enjoy this game for the experiance and when you talk to a "Nam" vet tell him you know what he's been thru.Well maybe not,but the game has that surreal feeling. Vietnam was no joke.

Great for single player. Didn't like so much for multiplayer

I loved the single player mode of this game and suggest to anyone that likes single player games to buy it. The controls are a little weird but are easy to catch onto. The multiplayer I was expecting to be just as good. It was a co-op mission in mutiplayer which isn't very good in my opion. Over all I suggest this game.

This game is bound to keep whoever plays it occupied for countless hours.
When it originally hit shelves in late 2004, I immediately bought it (Being a big fan of the Conflict Desert Storm games). Taking you from the base... to the jungle...to a POW camp...to hovering around in a chopper. This game does indeed place you in Vietnam!

Great Game!!!!

this game is fantastic!!!!! if youve played conflict desert storm 1&2 youd know the graphics would be a little shaky and they are. the waepons fit the time period they also look very realistic the m-60 machine gun,m-16, ak-47 and car-15 assult rifles look acceptional!!!!! the sound alright. the comments of your teammates is very repeatitive.if your someone who likes non-stop action i would get this game.the game is alsoauthentic.

This game does absolutely rock!Alot like Desert Storm 2
but better and definitely harder. You never know what`s around
the next corner.Just a tip, you don`t have to make all silent
kills to get out of the P.O.W. camp on the level "Russian Roulette". I grabbed the A.K. then went to the back room, got some medkits and the knife then snuck out and silently killed the guard snoozin. Then picked up his A.K. That gave me enough ammo to start mowin down everybody and grabbin their ammo as I went. The silent kill plan is fun too though. The mission scenerios seem pretty authentic from what I know about Vietnam.
Great graphics too. A must buy

Conflict Vietnam is cool

It is harder to kill the enemy than Conflict Desert Storm but I think that adds to the thrill. Usually a headshot will take em down pretty fast. I also like the flying blood and limbs. The heavy use of profanity is cool too.

Too hard but too good at the same time!!

This game is too hard at the Beginning but when you learn to use the controls the game is very adictive, is one of the best Conflict series.

Is it just me?

I don't know if anyone else experiences this but I get really dizzy playing this game. There's something about the visual effects/ coloring/ textures/ rendering/ etc. that makes me feel dizzy. Don't know what's wrong as I still have 20/20 vision. This game is not playable for me eventhough it may be promising. Shellshock is simpler and more playable (no squad commands though).

A whole heap of fun!

I eagerly awaited the release of Conflict: Vietnam after spending way too long playing both Desert Storm games and, even better in my opinion, The Great Escape, all made by Gotham Games. C:V did not dissapoint.

Whilst I don't think it's a great deal different from C:DS2, there are still some neat new touches. At last we can pick up other weapons, fight an (semi) intelligent enemy and, best of all, issue commands.

The 14 different levels were a distinct mixed bag; Charlies Point was almost pathetically simple whereas Tunnel Rats took me weeks to get past. My only other slight complaints would be the odd glitch, such as when one of your guys gets stuck somewhere for no reason and the unecessary swearing that is cliched and gets old after a while. Otherwise, well done Gotham Games!!
