I liked it well enough to buy one

We rented this game from the video store to try it out, and we liked it well enough to buy one. I thoroughly enjoy this game in spite of some flaws in the animation. Maybe that's because my criterion for a good game is that it should challenge my reasoning skills. This game definitely does that!

Although "Bug's Life" is rated "6 years and up" in terms of content (from the G-rated movie), it's a difficult game that might frustrate some children, and will definitely challenge adults. It has five "worlds" with 3 levels each (that's 15 levels in all). So far, I've only gotten to Level 4 (where the Bird gobbles me up every time!) Each time I play, however, I discover new tricks and features that I missed before.

Those users who complain of headaches from annoying camera swings may not have gotten the hang of how to control Flik. The camera's POV follows where Flik is looking, so, when he turns left or right, so does the camera. Since this is a 3D game, Flik can turn 360 degrees. Fast changes in POV can be disconcerting at first if you push too many different directional buttons in a sequence. Most of the time, however, you really don't need to spin Flik around so fast. Once I got my control down pat, I found the camera rotation to be very useful in orienting myself. Seemingly useless items (like the green acorn and big raspberry on level 1) make good landmarks once you learn the layout. Those landscapes are not as "featureless" as they first appear when you slow down and take the time to look around.

The real trick in this game is not bashing bugs at breakneck speed, it's figuring out the best order to collect the various items. True, Flik's Red Berries are very hard to aim and you need several throws to do much good. They're meant to be that way, because they're his least powerful weapon. But find that green Homing Berry, and your aiming problems are solved, because it follows the target like a smart bomb! Also, I didn't find Flik's harvester on Level 1 until I had played for several hours -- but once I did, my whole strategy changed the next time around. And I'm sure it will change again, once I find whatever it is I need to get past that darned Bird!

It's just like the movie!

Although flying on the dandelion is very hard, once you pass that, it's a great game. It follows all of the scenes in the movie. I would not recommend this for young children. Some of the levels are not that easy.

Typical disney game, but addictive.

I bought this mainly out of chance that Disney could make a playable and enjoyable 3D game, and I was right, although you can race through the game in only a couple of days, if you work hard enough and search around long enough on every level, you can squeeze more time and enjoyment from it. more for the younger kids though, not the 3D gamers.

Great game with lots of humor and bits from the movie!

I had a fun experience playing a Bug's Life. After every 3 levels, there's a boss to play. So far there's over 17 different levels! The last level's boss is Hopper, who is the evil grasshopper in the movie. I have no idea how they make these 3D graphics, but there's one thing I know, this is a very, very cool game.

Don't waste your money!

This has to be the worst game. If nothing else, it's totally boring. My little boy gets so frustrated trying to play it that he just turns it off. (me too!) We have never gotten past the "flying off the cliff" level. A total waste of money!

gone in 60 seconds

Cute idea...but that is where it ends

A Bug's Life is directly based on the popular movie and most expected a better game than was delivered. It is more than apparent that this game was released as an advertising gig and it still needed some serious time on the old drawing board. The 3-D graphic games are usually a problem for the playstation, however this game may reach an all time low. The main problem (and it is a HUGE problem) is the camera angle. You can never really control Flik (the main character) and spend more time walking off of things and running into enemies and just being annoyed in general. To add insult to injury, the game is geared toward kids but the major problems with control, unexplained game freeze-up and long load times will frustrate kids and adults alike. The dreaded dandelion flight is a journey into hell as far as I'm concerned. It takes numerous (and I do mean numerous)attempts to get across the canyon and half the time the game freezes up just as you get across. Additionally, the enemies that you encounter require huge amount of berries to actually kill them...unless you have managed to find a good supply of the rare gold berries. This only adds to the frustation of this game.

This game is not worth the effort and is a huge disappointment overall. Rent it before you buy and if you haven't thrown the controller across the room about 20 times then you can give yourself a big pat on the back and consider buying the game.

STINKS ON ICE!!!

This game is one of the worst games that Disney Interactive ever created. When you first put it in and see the movie you think that it will be great but then you have only 2 level choices Training and Anthill. I like Training better than Anthill but it still stinks. Also the game freezes too often. When I was on the 5th Level the one where you hop on the dandelion and get across the Canyon without the bird killing you. I was across the canyon and then the game froze and I had to start over and that was the level that I always have trouble with that level.

Another thing that bugs me is that the stupid worm takes about 100 red berries to kill and only 4 blue berries 2 green, and purple berries. And it still takes two gold berries to kill it!!!

Same thing with the one bug that guards the fence takes 100-150 reds 6 blues 3 green 2 purple and 2 gold and that ticks me off really bad. This game stinks and you definetly DO NOT want to buy this game.

(I am actually rating this 0 but there isn't a 0 voting button.)

I LOVE BUGS !!!

This game is GREAT fun !! Bought it for my four year old, who just LOVES bugs, and I ended up loving bugs too. It is fairly easy for him, although he doesn't really understand the concept. He just loves jumping around as Flik and stomping on bugs. He's begining to get better at it, but he ends up going around in circles sometimes. I have to kind of supervise. I'm not a game player (don't like the anxiety that comes with the game playing), but I really like this one. It's cute and fun for the whole family.
