This games is not as bad as everyone says it is. I will admit I have not played it all the way through, but I have played worse RPGs. The graphics are not great, and the storyline is a little dry and the characters dont really develop. Yes, this game lacks, but its not down right awful. Although with the release of the PS2 and all the new RPGs hitting the market, you can easily find a RPG that would be much more fun!

Fun, but not Amazing

This game was really fun to play, and the story line was decent, but overall it was far from the best I've ever played. At the time this game came out, it was pretty good because there wasn't much of a selection for Playstation RPGs. But by now, there are much better games out there.

The story line is based on the usual "Young boy goes off on an advneture to save the world." Most of it has been done before. The magic is pretty good. Most of the spells are fairly original, and the graphics that go along with them aren't too bad considering the cartoon appearence of the rest of the game.

I remember being a little annoyed by the excessive random encounters in some of the dungeons, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before. One dungeon that stands out in my mind however comes near the end of the game, and it was by far the most nervewrackingly annoying dungeon I have ever encountered in ANY RPG (and I've played them all!). There are invisible pit traps all throughout the already long dungeon, which drop you down to the previous floor somewhere, which also has pits... Combined with the high random encounter rate, this place is an absolute pain to complete.

Most of the game is straightforward, with only a few elements of surprise. This is the kind of game I'd recommend only to a first-time RPG player. All of us RPG veterans should look elsewhere.

I have searched for this superb game for 2-3 years, and I finally found it thanks to GameBuyer and GameFAQs...Oh sorry, got carried away there. Anyway, This was one of the best games ive seen! The plot, the characters, the setting...It was brilliant. (...)Either way, I would recommed this game to anyone who likes RPGs. Hope ya liked this review...............

Quite easily the worst game i've played

If you like to play the most irritating games possible, then you simply must pick this one up. You spend more time running from battles than you do actually fighting them, building up your characters takes forever, and the game is not balanced at all! You will consistently encounter enemies that are too tough for you to reasonably handle, and the game is just too time consuming (in a bad way) to be any fun! About the only good thing that I can say is that the graphics were pretty good. That's it.

Utterly dismal game

This is one of the worst RPGs to be released on any platform. The story is absolutely horrible and the gameplay is beyond dismal. Avoid this one unless someone gives it to you.

This game is as hard to find now as when it was first put on the store shelves. This game gave a good idea of what was to come in the future. If you have played any of the PS1 Final Fantasy games this game will not be too fun, but held those who bought it over till FF7. If you have it DO NOT SELL IT, a very rare game to have.

Utterly awful

Lots and LOTS of random battles, dumb characters, dumb gameplay, graphics that would look bad on the SNES (except for the constant battles). I played this when there were no other RPGs on the Playstation and I had the flu. With so many great RPGs out now, there is no reason for this game. Actually, there was no reason for it in the first place. I'm an RPG nut, but this one is just plain bad.

Classic gameplay with bad graphics

Beyond the Beyond is one of the most 'classic' RPG's on the Playstation. It has poor graphics and bad character animation. For instance, every emotion in characters is expressed by a couple of white lines over the character's head. The battles are pretty fun, and gameplay is challanging. If I had to choose, I wouldn't buy it again though.

eh....what can you say

Well, I've been playing RPGs for quite some time now.(Since all the Dragon Warrior games on NES) This was an RPG, but that's all that really stands out about it. haha. Hardly any replay value, linear storyline, easy to solve puzzles, no character development(hardly any at all), and OLD graphics. This had to be like the first RPG they made for PS. The graphics bring back memories though. haha. I enjoyed it overall but wouldn't bother to play it over again.
