A true Playstation classic

Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night is a great example of how sequels should be done. Even though Alucard uses a sword instead of the traditional whip, the game seems 100% worthy of the Castlevania title (Don't worry though, if you prefer the whip style of play, you can play through the entire game with Richter once you have completed certain tasks). The gameplay is tight and refined, the graphics are wonderful, there's tons of items and rooms to find, and the music fits each section of the game perfectly. The 2 castles to explore are massive, but a teleportation system keeps you from having to back track the whole way by foot to get to a desired area. Every feature in this game was obviously paid close attention to by Konami. Fans of the Castlevania series will not be let down. This is a true classic that every Playstation owner should have.

Best Game Ever Released

I remember when I first got this game - when it first came out when I was a junior in high school. I played this game all night and called in sick for work over Christmas break to keep playing. This is undoubtably best game I've ever played in my life, and I doubt that anyone has the brains to follow it up in a similar style. I mean, at least Capcom had the brains to follow up with millions of Mega Man sequels that were all alike, but all of the subsequent Castlevania sequels after "Symphony" just are nothing like it. The "64" versions totally suck compared to it. Oh well, I guess I'd better find another copy of this disc before I get it scratched so many times that its unplayable. If you haven't played it, buy it. Otherwise, you are losing the best video game experience that you will ever have. (Runners up for best games of my life: Secret (not legend) of Mana, Chrono Trigger (not Cross), Time Crisis (distant 4th, but still excellente))

This is by far one of the greatest games ever made for the PSX, or any system for that matter. Yes, it's a side scroller, but a side-scroller has never been done better. With plenty of excellent action, RPG elements, multiple endings, hidden modes, great classic Castlevania action, and much, much more, this game is a sure fire winner. You really can't pick a better game except with a few (hence the word few) exceptions. You definitely cannot go wrong. This a must have for any collection. If you don't own a PSX, buy this game and find a friend who has one because no one should miss out on a game this incredible.

The review of a Classic.

First off, I would like to say that no platformer has topped this incredible piece of work. It has a tremendious impact on you in the first few minuets. I found myself weeping when the game ended. there is nothing left to write. just buy this game, even if you have to pay your life savings. buy it NOW!!!!!! If you already bought it, consider yourself lucky. stunning graphics, air-tight gameplay, and a fun factor that never dips, this is a story for the grand kids.

Castlevania Symphony Of The Night is one of the best games I have ever played, the music is outstanding, and the gameplay is perfect. erfect use of blood too, You play as Alucard, Alucard is Draculas son and did you notice that Alucard spelled backwards spells Dracula, Alucards mother is named Maria... But If I told you more about this game it would ruin it... Well dont just sit there, Buy it!

This game is incredible. The 2D scrolling allows for the lesser ability to get lost, so it's easier to navigate. Gameplay is friendly, and has aspects of an RPG. This is a must-have for PlayStation owners!

For a two dimentional game, you won't find one better. This game has a great storyline, exceptional graphics, awesome sound effects, yada, yada, yada........you will not regret playing this game even if you don't play games that often. This game will hook you within the first ten minutes. The only thing that could prove me wrong is if you don't want to take the time to read what some of the articles actually do once you pick them up. You have to constantly decide what to wear and what to use.

Classic, Must-Own PSone Title

Okay, so the voice acting is god-awful. That's the only complaint you or anyone else will ever have after playing this game. Solid, tried-and-true gamplay with brand new elements, such as the ability to explore rather than progress by levels. This game picks up where "Rondo of Blood" on the PC-Engine left off. Attractive but not over-used effects, huge, effective sprites, a sprinkling of 3D elements and some of the best music ever to grace a videogame make this a must-own for anyone who has a Playstation. By the way, stick this one in your CD player: the second track is a techno-remix of some classic Castlevania themes.

the RPG approach works once again

Throughout Castlevanias history there have been only three thus far that did not follow the mainstream pattern. Those were Castlvania 2 Simons Quest (NES) Castlevania Circle of the Moon (GBA) and Castlevania Symphony of the Night. What seperated these three titles from the rest of the series? They were Action RPG', not mainstream action games.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night is the second approach at the RPG format. This time however you are not a Belmont, instead the last one to this point (Richter) has mysteriously vanished around the same time that Castle Dracula has Re-emerged. Maria goes in search of Richter and that's where you come in.

You play Alucard, a half vampire half human. Alucard was last seen fighing alongside Trevor Belmont, Grant DyNasty, and Sypha Belanade in Castlevania 3 the prequal to the first game (but not the earliest Belmont). These three are somewhat resurected for a bossfight. Alucard has reawaken to fight his father and put his cursed bloodline to rest. after being stripped of his items early on you must explore Castle Dracula for clues as to what happened to Richter and put an end to Dracula.

Graphically this game is a wonder. Easily one of the best PSX games of all time (PSM rated this #3 for the top 50 PSX games). It is (gasp) 2D, almost unheard of today. In truth however that made this game even more fun and graphically amazing than before.

However what truely stands out is the music. Never has a Castlevania game had such outstanding music than this. It is amazing and a wonder to own.

In the end this is a definite keeper. The only way not to like this is if you are either a devoted follower to 3D games, or don't like Castlevania. Buy this now, I command you to.
