Excellent Game

The reviews were harsh, but i rank this game right up with syphon filter. Basically, you go around shooting, kicking, punching, and blowing up everything that moves and doesn't. That's right! Almost everything in FF2 can be destroyed. You get a variety of weapons, from sledehammers to grenade launchers, and so do your enemies. When you start off, the enemies are extremly easy to kill and don't have any weapons. In later levels, they carry big machine guns and rocket lauchers.

Graphics:8.5-Character animation is good and so are explosions, but enemies and faces could be a little better.

Sound:5.0-Music is good. SFX are average and characters grunt like cavemen

Gameplay:9.0-Control is smooth and you can throw punches and combos with ease

Lasting Appeal:9.5-Tons of long levels. Don't be surprised if you look at the clock and it's 3 A.M.

Overall:9.0-Tons of hardcore beat-em-up and shoot-em-up action, only brought down by stupid character A.I. and lack of depth and diversity.

Dreadful disappointment from the makers of Tomb Raider.

After playing two of the best 3D simulations I've ever encountered, Armored Core: Project Phantasma and Syphon Filter (both Playstation), Fighting Force 2 was like a nasty splash of ice water in the face.

Compared to the wonderfully logical and smooth controls of Project Phantasma and Syphon, Fighting Force 2 was sluggish, overly complicated, and disorienting. Most of the game's design sacrifices gameplay, pacing and engagement for what the designers appear to think is style. The multiple camera angles, for example, already distracting but begrudgingly acceptable in Tomb Raider, are an absolute pain in Fighting Force 2. Overheads, reverses, low angles...the programmers must fancy themselves filmmakers. Except in a game setting where a human has to control motion (as in real life), it's the equivalent of having to walk down the street while your head is doing 360s. A stupid and player-unfriendly concept, this multiple-angle approach to programming.

And yes, the fighting. Nice concepts, but somehow the programmers put in many things that again limit enjoyment. The ability to carry only five weapons at a time, for example -- an extreme annoyance, and the system of switching weapons brings so much hassle that you can get blown to pieces just trying to draw a gun. The character's turning speed is also annoyingly slow, possibly because the programmers spent too much time putting detail into the surroundings at the expense of response.

A huge disappointment. The game looked interesting as a demo; as a playing experience, it's a major turnoff.

Fighting Force 2: The Sequel

The original Fighting Force was a decent game. You and a friend could team up, roam the streets and beat up some gangsters with anything onscreen.. In this bland sequel, you can do the exact same thing, except by yourself. Oh yeah, Eidos managed to sucked all the fun out of it.

Fighting Force 2 is very similar to the first. The same punch-punch-kick combo has been ported over. Virtually anything can be used as a weapon - bats, sharp sticks, dull sticks, etc. Also you have several firearms, which for some reason you hold sideways (like the bad gansta' you are!).

However, there some terrible features. Enemy AI is non-existent - you can stand 5 feet from them and they do NOTHING! When they do make a move, they run up and stand 3 feet away and patiently wait for you to beat them up.

One cool aspect of the game is that if you punch things enough, they will explode - not just computers and electrical components: boxes, desks and even file cabinets will detonate FOR NO REASON. Apperently in the FF2 universe, office workers like to stash C4 explosives in file cabinets.

A note to gamemakers: Please do not rely on snazzy graphics or a well-known license to make a game. A good game has several factors: gameplay, design, plot, and decent action. Some wannabe gangsta (with a gratuitious name like Hawk) holding a gun sideways and reptitously beating up escaped convicts from a lobotomy camp DOES NOT count as a good game. Rather it's an excellent example of how to ruin a potentially-good game and waste my money.

An Excellent Addition To The Playstation Library

For those who have gotten familiar with my reviews you know that I love mindless shooting games for one main reason, stress relief. This game is wonderful in that sense, admitedly the artificial intelligence isn't the most brilliant but that can be o.k. I am really sick and tired of people saying that games like this suck because the whole point is you go around and kill things. According to certain people these games don't help society they in fact hurt society, this is total bull I persoanlly beleive these games make people less likely to snap and go out and shoot someone. Anyhow a good game but for those who aren't fans of this type of game you should just rent it.

Great Fun

This Game Kicks butt! I loved The first game I must admit, but this is even better. The game is much larger and a bit harder than FF1 but WOW! I've been mashing bad guys for over week and I can't get enough!

Sure there are a few faults with the game, but nothing major,(I mean how many games DON'T have faults?). On the other hand there IS a lot to shout about. The GFX and SFX are cool (It's all very moody!). Gameplay too is top draw

In my opinion, if you liked MGS but would have liked a little less "brain strain" and more punch/kick/shooting. then you will love this!

Despite horrible enemy AI,a pretty cool game.

The original was okay due to okay graphics and amazing fun factor. The sequal is worse in some ways but better in most. Graphics: The graphics are much better than the first , now there are FMVs and more good looking enimes.AI enemy AI is terrible . They walk so slowly and have bad aim. Sound: the sound is pretty good , Hawk sounds like a mercanary bad-@$$ (sorry I had to say that) Fun: The game is pretty fun but not as fun as the first one . Overal: 7.0

It's cool

This game is what I expected and little bit more but there is one thing I can't understand:why is this game so much like TR? right down to the way he runs everything is reminisent of TR, but I do like graphics. This is the only strong part of this game, rent for a weekend, if you can tolerate it.

Absolutely fantastic
