Loading Times and Boringness Galore

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 17

Final Fantasy VI is a very good game, however its story is boring at times and charecters remain very underdeveloped throughout the story. The magic system is good, however the loading times produced by the PlayStation are deadly. If you really want to play this game - play it as it was meant to be on Super Nintendo.

Final Fantasy V wasnt released in the United States because it was too "weird" and "complex" for american gamers according to SquareSoft producers. Well, i'd have to concur with them in that the Job system is good if you plan on spending more time configuring your chars than playing. The story is pretty entertaining, but the graphics are getting pretty dated.

I'm sorry...it SUCKED!

I am unfamiliar with this relm of video game play so I believed that the animation would be as pictured on the inside cover and in the game preview. But the game itself was the flat choppy animation of the Atari game era, not the 3-D animation of today's games, or of that in this game's preview. I did not enjoy it. I didn't care for the bait and switch.

I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan, but FF5 and 6 are certainly no FF7. Kefka was pretty cool, but he is nowhere even close to Sephiroth, BEST VILLAIN EVER!!!!! FF5 had chocobos, and stuff like that, but there was no cloud, and they both had sad parts and stuff, but nothing nearly as sad as when AERIS DIES!!!!

"Greatest Hits" version is lackluster.

Don't get me wrong, both games in Anthology are excellent. I would consider Final Fantasy VI, to be the greatest RPG ever created. But the "Greatest Hits" version of this package does dissapoint.

The original black label version of Anthology was created by SquareSoft, and included in the package was an extra CD, with music from both games.

However, the black label edition has been out-of-print for some time. The newly formed company, Square-Enix decided to re-release Anthology as a "Greatest Hits", but excluded the music CD in the package. So, instead of receiving three disks (the two gaming disk, and one music CD), only the two game disks are included with the game.

The Square-Enix release of Anthology feels much more like a cheap cut-and-paste copy of Final Fantasy. Besides lack of the music CD, much of the artwork from the previous black label release is gone, and instead, the gaming disks are designed with a standard white label.

Final Fantasy Anthology from Square-Enix, is certainly not a collector's item, despite what the package label might say. It is my suggestion to pass this purchase up, and find a copy of the black label release from SquareSoft.

FFVI is a MUST to have. FFV and the music CD are JUNKS!

FFVI is undoubtedly the best in the FF series. It has the best storyline and playability. But if you started your FF experience with FF7 or above, U may found the "old" game less than attractive. But the storyline is still the best so far. The music CD is a total crap! It doesn't even include the Celes theme. What's in the mind of those people who edited the music CD! FFV... let's put it this way, if U have better game choices, just put this game on the display shelf.

Desecrated Masterpieces

To summarize things quickly, FF Anthology contains the original versions of the Super Nintendo games FFV and FFVI, (now obviously in Playstation format) as well as a music cd featuring music from both games (unfortunately, the cd doesn't have many standout tracks...personally, the selection was horrible). Both FFV and FFVI are great games...outdated graphically, but still excellent in their own right. FFV has an amazingly well-done battle system, and FFVI has a kickass storyline and is an all-around winner. The only problem is that, somewhere along the conversion from cartridge to disc, both games were inflicted with some of the worst load times I've seen in an RPG. You might not think this would count for much, but it seriously disrupts the flow of the game, especially after playing both games on Super Nintendo first. If I were rating this based on the quality of the games alone, I'd give this a five star rating, but those damn load times...you're much better off downloading both games from an emulation site to play on your computer, where they'll run without load times...and for free (the music cd isn't worth the price either). I strongly recommend doing this...both games are true masterpieces not to be missed for RPG fans.

ehh..........

Well...I expected more from this game. FYI Final Fantasy V is a hard game compared to the other Final Fantasy games. FFA isn't the best, but I guess it's worth trying. If you're going to buy it play FF6 first. If you're lookin' to play any old revised game, I suggest Lunar: The Silver Star Story. Buy this game if you like to level up characters (in the game) at ridiculously high levels, or looking for a hard game to play (FF5).

Fun Games! But there was something missing...

I am not camplaining about the games, just how it was packaged. They completely left out Final Fantasy IV, which would have made the package even better, and then there should have at least been more computer generated scenes, because that would have brought the characters even more to life. To me these two things were a major disappointment when I got this game. One thing I thought was a great idea was the new "Battle Transitions". I think they are even better that the new Final Fantasys, so I'll give them credit for that. The games are fine and really do bring back old memories of the SNES days and are just as fun as any other RPG. Oh well, if they had alot more CG scenes the package might have 15 cd or something, but hey, I wouldn't mind if it was the same price!
