The best computer game EVER at this price!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 34 / 38

This game is packed with all the action you could ever want! If you have 16MB+ of video RAM this game cooks with the most awesome graphics you can buy at this price. Works seamlessly on my G3! Love the music, levels, characters, and different types of play. Owned this game for months and have yet to conquer! Great movies between levels too. You won't be disappointed if you love arcade shooters. Get it! (P.S.--It does have a TEEN rating and I would not recommend for younger gamers).

It is the most exciting video game I have experienced.

I got the video game when I bought VGA card. It is Demo edition but deeply hooked me. Different from other fighting video game, you must fight fixed targets, moving tanks and flying Skycaptain simultaneously. You must take right strategy of attack and defence to defeat your rival. It makes you feel like to be a general to conduct a group of troop fighting in the war-field.Especially when you play "two players mode". You must response to the enemy's strategies very quickly or you will lose. That is the most fascinating part in the game. I want to purchase the formal edition ( my CD-ROM is Demo edition, only limited function). Unfortunately, I can't find it.

An Excelent Chalange For Older and/or Average Players!

I have played this game off and on an hour or more at a time over the last year, and I find it highly enjoyable! I am an older/average player who switched from Saga Genesis and their BattleTech game, and this game is a BLAST! It gives me the Mech experience and the Transformer aspect in one game, with several different weapons to pick up as you go to higher levels, all of which are Cool! It has 3 levels of play, Easy, Normal, &Hard. I play on the Normal level now and look forward to re-playing in the Hard mode. I also enjoy the shared experience of the Two Player mode in the Crime War half of this game, where you and your partner work together to beat the Bad guys. I also enjoy the Head to Head Precinct Assault mode alone or against a friend. I recommend getting a good Memory Card to save your game at the end of each level. That will cut down on the frustration of starting over when your Mech is destroyed. The game has drawbacks but all games have drawbacks. I find that this games drawbacks are something I can live with quite easily. I recommend this game to any Mech game lover! Its a different experience I think you will enjoy. I just wish Electronic Arts would do a sequal for PSX and give us new senarios or even just rework this version with new bad guys and give us a first person view to switch to. That would be a 5 star game!!!!! They could also give us a more flexable game save feature. But I have to say, This Game is a KEEPER! I know many of you out there should try it, you'll like it! If you are a super duper game player and need super hard games you may get bored, but if your like me, as I stated in the Title, get this game and give it a whirl! You may just find this is your FAVORATE GAME EVER, or at very least one you will be glad you added to your collection!!

l.a.p.d. saved the day.

there are just some games that from the moment you start playing them, you love them. for me this is one of those games. i neverh heard of it before i bought it but i ended up getting hooked from the beginning. i actually lost my first copy of the game and ended up buying it again. this game is not one of those award-winners everyone has heard of or played, but as far as i'm concerned it is one of the most fun games around.

didn't come close

first of all, it's not a comp. game, it's a psx one. second of all, the whole thing was so shoddy that i couldn't bring myself to play it. overall, just a bad game

Most annoying game play EVER

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 7

On the surface the game has a lot going for it but the execution and game play are abysmal. The concept is great, a mech-warrior cop running through crime ridden future Los Angeles, gaining new weapons, secrets, etc, perhaps a puzzle or two. However there are some major problems that prevent this game from being fun and you from returning to it.

1. Camera angle. Like the other reviewers said, the camera moves at will. You have no control, and never positions itself behind you so you're looking askance at your mech/hovercar, which is great if your head happens to be at a 45 degree angle all the time. You must compensate for this with many extra moves on the controller, over and over again.

2. When you die, you must restart the whole level. Yes. The whole level from scratch.

3. The dispatcher is completely annoying. She's there to, I assume, decipher the poorly layed out heads up display the game gives you. One bad feature for another I guess.

This has so much potential and I want to return to it, but I know I'll get annoyed by the controls, display, and lack of basic game freedoms.

Great game

Future Cop L.A.P.D. rates 5 stars for the Precinct Assault mode alone (only 2 stars for Crime War mode). Test your battle skills against the Sky Captain who becomes a tougher adversary as you advance through the higher levels. What makes this game so fun is the constant battle over defensive turrets that are located throughout the battlefield. You or your enemy claim these "neutral" turrets by running or hovering next to them and pressing the "action" button. It then fires at any enemy tank, jet, or turret until it is detroyed. It then regenerates after about 15 seconds and becomes inactive until you or your opponent claim it again. Points are given for enemies destroyed and turrets claimed and are used to produce your own tanks, jets, juggernauts, or flying fortresses or to purchase an outpost. There are several weapons choices which can be used in combination. Power-ups on the battlefield should be utilized to enhance your weapons. A very fun game those who enjoy a good battle. Sure would like to see a sequel with a first-person view.

This is one of the worst games I've played in years. Yeah, the graphic stills look great, but just try playing the game for more than an hour. It has the most obnoxious 3rd person camera I've ever seen. It zooms in and out whenever it feels like it and you have no control over it. You would think that when the evil boss's gigantic super tank pops up to splatter you that the camera would shift so you can look at it, but nope. You get to fight most of your enemies off screen. Luckily, you are equipped with an auto tracking device that renders any aiming skills you may have useless, and makes it basically a dodge ball game with a plot. Sound like fun? Just wait until you're trying to track down that helicopter firing missles at you and the camera keeps zooming in and out and spinning! Yeah, it's cheap, but so is sticking your finger down your throat, and that's more fun. Save your money and buy something playable, like Grim Fandango, or The Sims.
