Syphon Filter 3 Leftovers

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 10
Date: March 16, 2002

I'm sorry, I cant slap on the kudos that the other Syphon Filter die hards did for this version. I thought Syphon Filter 1 was the best console game available when it came out, Period. Really good first person action and controls that were superbly responsive.
Syphon Filter 2 came on 2 CDs and was truly massive with lots of well thought out sections and excellent challenges.
Syphon Filter 3 is exactly what I said it is. A series of OK to Lame leftovers they didn't think were worth including in 1 and 2.
In case you didn't know, the company that produced one and two sold out before three and it is completely obvious that the people who cludged together 3 were using the leftovers.
One and two broke a lot of new ground and the increased scale of two alone justifies it, but 3 does nothing new and is kind of like one of those Death Wish 13 movies. They really should have stopped at two in this case. This even came in a 2 cd box (with only one CD and a lame little meaningless pamphlet)
They obviously had more planned, but decided just to exploit Syphon Filter fans instead, [taking money] out of them before they learned the truth.
Sorry Guys, your first two were great, but this one is pure financial exploitation.
MGS2 on the PS2 is intriguing, but really wordy and a little strained in the control department even if you don't like true first person as much as I do.
However, Halo on the Xbox is the new best console shooter, Period!
Played through Heroic level, hard but great fun. Legendary is continuous Suicide, also Period.
If you like shooters, it is time to move on.

Who designed the graphics for this game ?

I have played Syphon Filter 2 and I thought the graphics were ok but Syphon Filter 3 was horrible. If Sony (Hey what do you know they make the Playstation 2!)doesn't make the 4th version for Playstation 2 and use the power of it I won't buy it.

AWFUL JUST AWFUL!

Well I loved both 1 and 2 and I was so excited when I heard this was out . I bought it and finished it in 10 hours of playing time . What a huge dissapointment , it comes in a 2 cd case but only has 1 cd in it . I really thought it would be harder but it was really easy . I owned it less then 24 hours and finished it . Big bummer SONY , this is not worth the price

A little disapointing!

After playing SF1 and SF2 I was really looking forward to another instalation to an awesome series. I also thought it was a crock when they postponed the game, but oh well. I was ready for another killer game. I was somewhat disapointed.

To illustrate, I thought the strongest points of games 1 and 2 were the opening few levels, there was a great atmosphere in those games that was astounding. The first level in SF3 left me VERY dissapointed. The fist level should be the best, because it should make you want to play it all the more. Killing the first guy in stealth was fun, but the rest of the level was boring and had no point. It would have been more fun had you been able to snipe all the guys off in the different rooms than killing one and the rest of the 15-20 guys stand there and shoot at you. Indeed, the first levels are actually, to me, a downfall of the games as I felt myself pushing myself through the first number of levels.

In addition, I played this game for an estimation of 5-6 hours, and conquered it with ease. It was entirely to short and almost too easy. And a great downfall is there was no one level that I just had to go and play again, no great experience that was unique to the game. My actual only decent experience came by accident, when I didn't pick up a gun I needed to kill the final person, and by accident, with an HK-5, killed the finail person, to conquer the game. The final level is not the best level in the game. I really don't know what level is that great.

Also in this game there are no bosses, and no variety in how they make you kill the persons. I really missed the bosses placed throughout the game, as was so brilliantly done in the first and second.

In conclusion, I was somewhat dissapointed with this game. I think they will continue the franchise on the PS2, but I hope it is better than this one. So, if your asking me if you should buy this game, yes definately, it still is a good gaming experience but, if your looking for the wonderful layout of the first two games, you won't find it here, but, maybe, I'm just asking too much.

Is this truly a sequel?

I reserved a copy of Syphon Filter 3 as soon as I heard that it was coming out. I could not wait for it, but with everything pushing back the release date, my anticipation grew. I picked up the game on the day it was released, and instantly was hooked. However, I found it to be nothing of a sequel. SF2 was more difficult than this one. The only good thing about SF3 was the story line. I hate to say it, but I truly think that the price is way too high for this game. If you beat SF and SF2 with some difficulty, then you will have no problem beating this one. I beat it in 4 days - AND I WORK OVER 50 HRS A WEEK!!! (...)

Not Quite As Good As The Others

After purchasing Syphon Filter 3, I was very dissapointed in what i waited 2 months to have. S.F.3 is no where near the first two.Its graphics are amazing, the story is fine, but the length and the difficulty is pitiful.I beat the game in 2 days-and no-I wasn't playing all day-maybe 2 hours each day.Is is very short compared to the first two-but the mini games and the better 2 player game does make it a little better. If you're looking for a challenging game that is worth the money-stick to the first to Syphon Filter's-but if you want a kinda short-"shoot em up" game thats relatively easy-then this is the game for you.Oh yeah-sounds and graphics are AMAZING.

Good......but,

As a syphon Filter fan I was very excited to FINALLY get my copy of SF3 after all the delays of the release. It is still a great game but way too short. I beat this game in only 2 days of playing it without any cheats at all. The other 2 games took me at least a month each to beat. Overall it is still one of my favorite series of games and I only hope that if there be a 4th edition, that they make it a little more challenging and bring it out for the PS2.

Good...but not great

If your a die-hard Syphon Filter fan, as I am, you will enjoy this game. The new levels and scenery are always a good thing but this game isnt as good as the first two. I almost get the feeling that these levels were the rejects for the first two series. It seems to be put together haphazardly. Lots of "maze-like" levels which Ive never liked a whole lot. The more I play it though, the better I like it.

Nothing Special

I loved the first one, the second was not as good and now the third is really disappointing to me. After several missions the story line is really poor. The action is about the same but the controls seem a little different, everytime I go to peer around a corner or I bump the other analog stick Gabe jumps out and gets shot. The game does offer some unique new weapons. Maybe the game will improve later in the story but my suggestion would be to rent it before buying it. I wish I had rented it first.
