Clunky and unimpressive, but has some good ideas.

I picked this up primarily because I was a long time Square fan. It could best be described as "merely OK." The controls are a bit sluggish, the graphics aren't too hot ( although considering its release in the Playstation's infancy, I can forgive that.). The one-on-one fighting portion of the game is only modestly challenging, and doesn't give you too many combos or moves to choose from.

The Quest Mode potion of the game is the part I want to applaud. It's not particularly well implemented or even much fun, but it's a good idea and held my interest for a little while. However, I will warn you that it contains some jumping puzzles, and as my Super Star Wars review will tell you, sluggish control + difficult jumps = recipe for frustration. The Quest Mode isn't a bad idea, however, and Square re-used it more successfully in Ehrgeiz a few years later.

Overall, not terrible, but nothing earth-shattering. Buy it for completeness in your Square collection, but don't spend too much or you'll kick yourself.
