Armored Core 2: One of the Best Mech Games Ever Made?

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 5 / 10
Date: October 18, 2000

This game has very crisp and clear graphics, good sound, and good gameplay. It takes place in the future were most of earth's population had moved to mars. There are major "mech groups" that are fighting for global donimation. At the start of the game you can choose wich "group" you want to be in. You pick wich mech you want and you can customize it over the game.

Tough, but worth the time.

I've had this game for over a week now and I must say, it's among the more difficult games I've played. This is because the controls and movement vary with each new weapon/part that you add to your AC. This factor plus the rather tough missions, make it nearly impossible to advance in the game without dying and having to start over several times. The upside is that every time you die, you return with the same AC and abilities you didn't have before. This is the only way I've found to earn enough credits to build an AC that can compete.

So, in summary. This is a tough game, but graphics, gameplay and the overall joy of blowing stuff up make it a winner.

Great Armored Core game

I've played one or two other AC games, and this one is pretty good. And I have one thing to say...This game rocks!!! (took me a while, cause I didn't have alot of time to play it.)
35 missions, like over 50 arena fighters, and with over 200 parts, it keeps you very busy.

The customization rocks. I love personalizing mechs. And another thing with the customization is you can put color with intricate details and decals.

You start out with a POC AC, but after a few missions or turns in the arena, you can get better parts and WAY better weapons(I mean come on, you think a single shotm, low level rifle rocks!?)

Arena battles are intense and missions can be pretty dang hard. But with the right weapons, you can blow the competition away and finish yer job. Your merc and you work for 3 different companies, who are battling over mars and will do anything even pay large sums of money out to Ravens and sink low by sending them to sabotag the other companies.
I thought the game was pretty good cause it was hard at times and you wanted to throw the controller right through the screen, back of the TV, and through the wall behind it, but it was a challenge.

It got easier when I got better weapons. The first mech was as bad as ppl say, but you need a better gun. I beat the game in like 2 weeks playing time. I'd play it again but it'd take too long.

Amored core 2 was the best game in the arsenal of games that I played. The graphics were stunning and the controls were easy. The weapons were definitley upgraded from the first. A must have game.

Who lovers big Robots?

There will always be games that are a must have (Tekken, Tony Hawk, Metal Gear Solid). Then there will be game that you must not buy, rent, look at, or come within a 10 meter radius (Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M, ECW Anarchy Rulz, and any game miss spelled just to appel to idoits). Then there are games that if you love the genre you must buy. Case in point, Amored Core 2 if you played and liked the original AC you will love this game. With new improvments to burn this game is twice the size, three times as fun, and has enough new weapons and equipment to make all the Rambo movies combined look like a second grade arts and crafts room. You must be wondering why I gave this game a 4, well there will always be people who love stupid games made after even stupier moives or people who just don't like big robots. Because of these people I gave it a 4 so you don't go out by the game and blame me because I gave it a 5.

Awesome Game

Armored Core is the most fun game I own for PS2 next to Madden and SSX. Its easy to learn fun to play andchallenging to master. The concept is cool, and the graphics and gameplay are sweet. The downside- sometimes the construction of your robot can be a little restricting but the rest makes up for it times 2. A great game and buy.

The Best and addcitive Mech game I ever play!

Armored Core 2 is the best mech game up to date.I have so much to say about this game, so I'll make this short. The main concept of th game is obviously mech fighting , but more. You can make your own mech containing over 20 parts to add on while chosing over 200 parts to buy from the good 'ol shop, making the best looking and deadly mech. You can give it a nice paint job so it look even better, even with a ebelm to repesent your mech. There is over 30 missons to chose(the mission concept is like Dirver for those who played it). There an Arena so you can battle challining AI base "Ravens", where build up money to make you mech even more deadly. Also there is a VS mode where you fight your friends with your vicious mech. There is also a link up mode(self-explaintoriy),and by the end of 2001(if you buy the game)you'll be able to fight mind boggling mechs over the internet(which are other people)! So you get the idea by now.....Rent it if you want, but you'll be wanting and coming back for more!

Umm...sorry to be downer.

I was unimpressd with most aspects of AC2. The story is uninteresting, the controls are very rough, and the whole targeting sceme needs work. The one positive thing I can say is that the graphics are spectacular, watch the opening CS and you'll see what I mean. But unfortuneately that is the highlight of the game. Regardless of what kind of equipment you buy you still feel as though you are slower than mollassis on a cold day. The AI is really difficult to deal with, and the majority of the time you can't even see the enemy mech throwing a barrage of missles at you. I could overlook all of these things if there was somewhat of a story behind it but there is no such thing in this game. Rent it first and see what you think. You can customize your own mech(s) which skyrockets the replay value but in my opinion it's not worth it if you can't use those mechs efficiently.

I love this game

Oh my gosh I could not belive the graphics with the Playstation 2. This game pushes those limits of the system. I just can't get over the feeling of puting down an enemy AC with my rifle. I totaly love this game. And who ever is reading this don't think twice Buy it.

Necesary Addition to your PS2 collection

Armored Core 2 is my favorite game for my PS2. It's head to head vs. ability adds even more fun to the game. There are around 55 arena opponents to take on in head to head combat each with different techniques and parts. The 50th opponent is the weakest and the 1st opponent the strongest except.... When you complete the final mission there will be additional arena opponents. And one that is seemingly invincible... Human plus features (drop to -50,000 credits in first mission) allow a new AC design. With new features and functions such as overboost. AC2 is a worthwhile addition to your PS2 collection
