A MUST BUY!

This game is my best PS2 game. I love military games. I orderd it the very day it was released. And I have played it for ten days.

There are 17 missions with two campaigns. The two campaigns let you play as either the ICP or the bad guys GHOST. You get to use a wide range of weapons such as tanks, fighters, bomber, paratroopers, mobile artillery, anti-tank helicopters and much, much more! Choose from five climates to play in and with about 20 differet maps!

But be careful not to kill innocents.
Every unit (but one time use units) has a human like learning abilities. Defend your base with Anti-Aircraft, Artillery, and machine gun bunkers! If your want to, you can order commanders to attack or defend anything!
Grapics: 10/10 Great detail!
Sound: 10/10 Very real!
Gameplay:10/10 There is a little guide on the screen that you can turn on or off.

But be warned, this game may take a long time to play. You need
to be ready to sit down and play from five minutes to four hours.
The only time it takes four hours is in the Skirmish mode (just an arcade mode).

Hint: defend your base enough to block any force of foes, then build a huge army of tanks and ani-aircraft and attack. With a huge army I rarely lose.

Fine if you get it at a bargain price

In Conflict Zone, it's the year 2010 and the forces of peace (the ICP) are fighting against the forces of chaos (GHOST). Both manipulate the media to tell their story.

On one hand this is your traditional strategy combat game. You control troops, you build barracks and weapons factories, you crank out marines, grenadiers, tanks and jeeps.

On the other hand, the media is always watching. So it's important to build refugee camps, show just how much work you're doing to maintain peace, and get key shots of the enemy and the atrocities they are committing. That media attention - and your subsequent popularity - are just as key to winning the war as actual units and troops are.

The graphics are resonably good, rolling across the meadows and mountains of the Ukraine and other hot-spots. You can zoom in and out and rotate at whim, getting a super-close-up of your units or a far-off view of the field. The AI is also reasonable, with units coordinating attacks on the most important targets first.

What really was annoying, though, was the interface. I've played hundreds of strategy games - it's my favorite type of game to play - and even with the tutorial the unit control in this game was pretty awful. I've heard this from many, many other people, and some simply refused to play after the first few attempts. I don't know I would give up on it quite that quickly, but it definitely makes the game far more frustrating than it should be.

Also, the various cut scenes of talking heads telling you to "save the civilians" or "kill the enemy base" never line up properly with the mouths moving. The mouths sit there yapping for a good 5-10 seconds after the speech is done. There are various little things like that that, while not major when it happens once, get really annoying when they are happening continuously.

It's a very nice attempt at something "different" with the media angle, but it ends up being a not-great strategy game with a PC bent to it. You should be able to find this for half price or less, so it might be a good "in between" game to play while waiting for one of your must-haves to come out.

If you Like Command & Conqeur!!!

This game is exactly like the Westwood famous Command and Conquer series and can be likened to the Playstation games, retaliation and Command & Conquer except with better graphics. The tanks are good graphics, while the people look like little tips of twigs. The buildings appear exactly like C&C Generals and it reminds me alot about it. The Commanders mouths do keep talking after the voice stops but its not bad. The plotline is good enough and it certainly is a great game to entertain you until the new games you have been waiting for come out.

AWESONE GAME !

this is a great game.you can play as a general of peace keepers(ICP) or as a general of an evil organization seeking for power(Ghosts). it take a litle bit to get hold of the controls though and it kinda confusing at the begining, but as you get further in the game it gets much easier since you get all kinds of other generals to help you (first you have to rescue some of them from enemy jails though).get more popularity by sendind civilian chopers to the viliges to either rescue them or recruit them as your spy-solgers so you can upgrade your weapons.build your own bases as you like or have your generals build and protect them themselves while you taking care of enemy troops and bases. do commando-rescue missions , base distraction missions or simply try to protect your own base for 45 minutes from massive ambush.i'm telling you, when you'll get a hang of the controls you'll love this game.

Great Concept....bad game

As much as I loved the concept of the game (being able to control every aspect of a modern war) I would have to say I would have appreciated playing this game on a PC more than on my PS2. Why?
Simply because of the controls. You have to memorize a VERY large amount of command functions before you can play fluidly at all. You have the normal buttons as one command, then you can you use those same buttons as another command if you use another button to shift it first. Then you can use the command buttons again only if shifted again by another button. With the PS2 controller already having 8 oft used buttons I don't want to memorize 24 different command combinations or even 16. I have enough games where I have to have the buttons memorized.

I bought this game for my husband because he enjoys warfare games. I thought this would be a great game for him. However, it seemed to deal more with the political aspect than much actual fighting. He hasn't played it since the first 15 minutes he tried it out. He much prefers Medal of Honor and Conflict Desert Storm.

One tight game !!!!!

This is gonna be the best strategy game for playstation2 of the year. You can control all aspects of your country while you are at war, from the news media to the civilians. There is no way this game isn't gonna be the next big thing.

I bought this game because i though it was like you were a person with a gun and could ride in tanks and airplanes, but its noting like that. all it is is you controling your little soliders to attack whatever you click on, sounds fun huh? well to me the lasting appeal is 1 min. if you want something like airplanes and tanks and machines guns to be controlable get 1942:battlefield for the pc its way better then this. i would rate this on a scale from 1 to 10 a negative 10. its not even worth a dime. Thats why i rated this 1 star
