Very addictive, but an excercise in patience!

This game is quite fun if you are into "Sim City" type games. There are many things in the game for everyone's taste. Be prepared to spend alot of time with the game if you are serious about completing it. Its pace is very slow, and the PS2 version spends quite a bit of time loading. Don't worry too much about the slow pace though because the game will keep you so busy, you will fear running out of time in a day and miss a chore or an activity.

interasting complex and confusing

this has to be one fo the most complex harvestmoons ever. graphics are nice, no load times between city zones cause it is all one big zone, and has a realism effect to it.

the game is a bit confusing and tuff, and until you get a seed maker money is one of the hardest things to make. one of the 2 biggest downers maybe 3 has the least amount of wuuing girls, your slower then treesap, and trying to get villarges to like you is anoying and hard because of your slowness.

i must admit how ever it is much much better then the nintendo version, the ps2 added that you can marry the rich girl and the people notice the weather change while in the GC version reain sleet or snow they say the same thing as if the weather was not there. also in the ps2 version you can have a baby girl if you bug the man in the jar.

the farm life is sorta anoying and hard to getinto if your not use to the harvestmoon system (not for new players) you have differnt type of cows to pick from and you have to buy a bull cow so you can keep on producing milk (cows must have a baby to make milk for 60 days) makeing crops is a pain in the aheam cause 1 bag = 1 seed and nothing regrows after u harvest it so replant. the fact you move slower then dirt also makes it tuff and time consuming. one neto featuer is they elemnated the harvest goddess so you do not have to concern your self with that.

some good featuers is setting up your own shop, and the vans shop that is a rare but important part of life will buy anything even burnt food from ya so even your mistakes are money. no need to worry about buying grass cause you automaticaly get a huge feild full of it, 1 unit of chicken feed will keep em fed for a week, and once you get a seed maker no need to buy seeds. oh and trees make seeds from their fruit and you be rich.

the realism to it adds on the the wonder of the interasting way of the game, like it could rain for 2 seconds or the full day, just look up and watch clouds form, and in the ex version they villigers even notice the weather changes. you can change the theam for your farm by finding records, you can teach your dog tricks, and you can get ducks, a cat, and if you like wasteing time a goat. if you like to be evil you keep takeing the wild fruits and stuff that grows all over the city and the harvest sprites will starve (cause they eat the stuff) maybe the fun part that is anoying is if you do not get married by the end of the first year you will lose so it makes dateing a rush. but it is ok cause once you have a kid they actualy make him or her fun to play with, which is another wonderful featuer cause kids have personality in this game.. unlike the others HM he is just a husk in the way of your farming.

I bought this game for my 12yr old for christmas. She like the game and is always playing it the only bad part was waiting for it to ship. The web site stated it would take 5-7 days and it took over 2wks for us to get it, luckly it came on christmas eve.

Mhm, Harvest Moon at it's worst or best?

I am a HUGE Harvest Moon fan, and have bought as many of their games as possible, so it was only natural I got this one. I was sooo excited that we finally got to have a little girl as a child, plus a new bride. Ohhhh my poor eyes, they are red with having to stare at the screen so long; Now loading my butt! I was slightly dissapointed with this game. The movements of the main character and other charries were so slow I thought I would die of oldness before they finally reached the place they needed to be. Natsume, I am truly sorry but this game needed much more work on the lighting and on making it faster. I love all the harvest moon games I have ever bought. But this one is a little boring for me. Plus it's very hard trying to move around in the dark because the lighting is so bad, yep, expect total darkness when it turns 5:00 pm on the game. The backgrounds are grey and blek. All in all, I rated this game three stars because it is not the worst nor the best.

The good stuff: You can have a baby girl.
The music is much better
Yay! a new bride.
A few new events.

The bad stuff: Terrible lighting.
Bland looking backgrounds.
S-L-O-W M-O-V-E-M-E-N-T-S
Somewhat boring.

Farming? Fun? You Bet!

Who knew farming could be so much fun?

- Unlike Magical Melody, A Wonderful Life has actual chapters that give you a sense of progress.
- Each villager has their own unique personality and befriending them rewards you with special items, i.e. a seed maker from Daryl, The Bride record from Chris, a cat from Romana.
- All the essential buildings and 2 fields are already there for your use. But you add other useful extentsions, i.e. a food processing room, a milking room, a chicken yard, another field.
- As for crops, you can grow any of the 8 basic crops (tomato, watermelon, melon, strawberry, turnip, yam, potato, carrot) and 5 basic trees (peach, apple, banana, grape). Also, in chapter 2 you recieve a plant called Tartan. Befriend him and he'll hybridize two crops for you, i.e. peach + orange = lanmunge, grape + banana = gehju, tomato + strawberry = berrytoma, yam + melon = sholo. You can also hybrid the hyrbid crops, i.e. berrytoma + sholo = melotoma.
- As for animals, both the barn and the chicken coop can hold up to 8 animals each. When you begin the game, you already have a milk giving cow and you get a horse for free. You can also buy sheep and a goat. If you build a pond, you'll recieve 2 ducks which you have the option of keeping and they'll lay eggs just like your chickens.
- As for your family, you can choose between 4 girls: Celia, Muffy, Nami, and Lumina. Lumina is only available in the Special Editon verison. As for your child, you'll be able to watch him or her grow from toddler to child to teenager to adult. Each child has a different personality depending on who the mother is. Each also has a different occupation as an adult: Celia's child = artist, Muffy's child = athelte, Nami's child = farmer, Lumina's child = musician.

Overall, I found this game to be very fun and rewarding. I can for hours without getting bored. This isn't game for everyone but everyone should at least give it a chance. I can certainly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys playing games like River King or Animal Crossing.

I've been an avid fan of the HM series ever since I first played the first SNES one, what, ten years ago? They're all very addicting, except this one. I thought this would be an excellent game, but I simply cannot get into it. Because, during the time that the game isn't LOADING, all movement is soooo sloooooooowwwwwwww. The scenery is at least.. slightly pretty? Not really. Everything looks so dingy, the colours have barely any saturation.
Gameplay, apart from being so very slow, as far as I can tell is also confusing, because it confused me and I'm usually a fast learner. Initially I thought the "special edition" would be the girl's version, where you play the girl and marry one of the guys in town... but I honestly can't find what's special about this 'edition.' Judging by how slow it is, maybe they just meant.. "special."

Fun and exciting

This game is sooo much fun. But please explain to me what the levels mean for my character when I check under assets. (AP, ST, SP) Also, how do I know whether or not my cow is pregnant. Nothing gives me any indication not to mention I do not own a bull yet. I keep giving her animal medicine, but the cow levels keep going down. What can i do to stop it? These things are not in the manuel. None-the-less, I'm growing crops and trying to make friends. I play this game for at least 8 hours each time.

The Little Farmer in all of us

Harvest Moon - A Wonderful Life- Special Edition, is a wonderful game that allows children to have fun while learning some of lifes important lessons.

In this game your child will become a young farmer who must make his farm a success. There are animals to feed and take care of, cows to milk, chickens who lay eggs, a dog that you'll need to train and feed, and crops to plant and harvest.

The game also allows for social interaction between your childs character and several other people who live in Forget-me-not Valley.

I recommend this game to anyone with children who might enjoy this type of game, it isn't fast paced with too much going on to keep the child focused on their task at hand.

Too Slow to be enjoyable!

I like Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life Special Edition. I however recommend spending an extra $100 dollars for a Gamecube. The Gamecube Edition is faster and easier to play. Sure there are extra features in the special edition but it isn't worth it to wait for more than a few seconds to move your character and other simple actions.
