Enjoyable game play but inaccurate portrayal...

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 2 / 7

When I purchased this game I had really high expectations for it, being a Tolkien fan and all. I was quickly disappointed when about 30 minutes into the game, I realized that the storyline is completely askew to the actual story of The Hobbit. The game has really good graphics and is fun to play, but the overall "quests" they send you on in the game, are somewhat dull at times. I understand that trying to adapt the book into a video game must be quite a feat to accomplish, but I would expect better. I obviously expected too much.

An excellent adaptation of the novel

This is an excellent recreation of the Tokien classic, even if you go to the Lord of the Rings movies just to say " Thats not how it happened in the book". This game has excellent graphics, gameplay , and music. I highly recomend it, so please despite the cartoony graphics that many think make it look childish, at least rent it i think you will enjoy it.

Middle-Earth here I come!

The Hobbit, what a great Idea, to make a video game out of the book that stared the whole,Lord of The Rings Hipe. And this game is extremely fun, just 1 thing; c'mon Vivendi, are you telling me these cartoonish graphics are the best thing you could come up with?

The game is so fun, in fact it is one of my favorite games, but the "Cartoonish" looke makes it very awkward to play at first. And all of these people who are giving the Hobbit a bad rating is because they can't get past the initial thought of the soemwhat childish graphics.

This game is deffinately worth a look, give it a try, the cartoonish graphics don't mess it up too bad. This is what I hoped that Lord of The Rings: The two Towers would have been like.

Overview:

Fun: 9.5/10 Gets a little old, but still a lot of fun.

Gameplay: 9/10, it's fun, but the controls are too limited.

Difficulty: 10/10 This game is pretty hard, but why did they make Bilbo so SMALL?

Graphics: 8/10 What's with the Cartoon Vivendi?

Overall: 36.5/40

This game is fun and challenging, but the graphics make this game VERY unattractive at first glance.

I reccomend renting this game and testing it before you spend 50 bucks on it.

The Hobbit------enjoying, fun,

You're short, you're rotund and your feet are harier than Robin Williams back. You are the hobbit who started the whole Lord of the Rings troligy - Bilbo Baggins of the shire. I'ts about time with all the hype surronding Lord of the Rings that someone got around doing something about this much ignorned precursor to the movies. The game hasn't got anything to do with Peter Jacksons films as expected. The game is based on the keypoints of the book shrinking it down to 11 levels. The environments are enormously interactive which is impressive but is still a challenging game, going around fighting wolves and goblins with nothing but a stick and a couple of rocks.Gulp.

Impressed

This game goes WAY over fun. Be Bilbo Baggins and adventure to cool levels. Sneak around, climb on ropes, and fight deadly enemies from orcs to Smaug the dragon! No time to waste. Bilbo Baggins awaits you!

Go there and back again with Bilbo Baggins

First of all, I have read the book `The Hobbit` several times, and while a computer game of a classic obviously cannot measure up to the original, this is still a fun game to play. All the favourite characters are here--Dwarf King Thorin Oakenshield, hobbit Bilbo Baggins, evil dragon Smaug, wizard Gandalf the Grey, and the whole Dwarf party known as Thorin & Co. While the game doesn`t always follow the story line and adds a few annoying additions that are never there, it still has most of the best parts. This game was created by Sierra, the same company that created beloved series such as King`s Quest and Hero`s Quest (aka Quest for Glory), so I knew this game had to be okay at least--and it is!

You know it's a good game when...

You stay up 'til 4am in the morning on a weekday and have to go to work the next day all because of the game!!

It's that addicting. The sound is great, the graphics are very nice. Beautiful. Sure they aren't like FellowShip of the Ring, or Two Towers, but it's still a fantastic game!! I like the story between levels as you go. It's like a story being told and you "help" it along. Very nice. Voice acting is decent. Power ups are okay. I earned some cool tactics, but when I used them, it's like, okay, what's different from the initial attack method? But, aside from that, I am not yet done with the game and I am very hooked in! That's when you know you got a good game on your hands. I only hope this title gets turned into a movie. It "feels" similar to the cartoon from the 70's, but it's a very intuitive game. I go for completing every single quest in each level. This will hopefully open the door to something even better!!! So, if you like adventure games this is a great game. There are some areas when it becomes a platform game. You know, jump from platform to platform, or swing from a vine to another. But, regardless. This is an excellent game.

this is a awsome game

Another Vivendi LOTR failure

What a joke! This is just as bad as The Fellowship of the Ring game. I really don't see how this game is rated above 1 star. If you want to play a real LOTR game, get EA's Two Towers and Return of the King. Vivendi just doesn't know when to stop. Another useless game that will find its way into the discount bins.

Hey it's your money, I just like buying games that are worth the money I spent. Fair warning: rent the fellowship of the ring and the hobbit first before buying!!!
