Breath taking and amazing

I bought this game without knowing anything about it, it just looked cool. As I started playing it, I found out that it wasn't just cool, it was amazing. The scenes and music just gave me chills and the judgement ring (which takes some pratice) gave the game a whole new challenge (making it diffrent from FF which I also love).

The best and dreariest RPG ever!

This game is awesome from start to finish. The game starts off as a dude named Yuri punches an evil plotting gentleman's eye out and saves a lady named Alice by taking her and jumping off a train. That's pretty cool huh!? Anyway,I'm not going to ruin the game any more for the people who haven't played it yet, so I'll just ramble on about the graphics and the battling. The graphics are every bit as good as FFXs,except the settings are dark and gloomy. The battles are really cool. You use this thing called a judgement ring, which has a line spin around a circle and you have to hit the colored areas to perform an attack, fusion, special attack, etc. It's a little tricky at first, but its easy and makes the game fun once you get the hang of it. The fusion part is cool too. Once you have killed enough monsters of certain types like dark, fire, etc.,you go to this graveyard that you see in your nightmares and you fight a monster of the certain type. If you don't get killed and you beat him, then you can turn into him in the battles. So,if you like RPGs you should by this game. It is one of the best ones out to buy.

Shadow Hearts is one heck of a game you can't ignore, I played it for a few minutes and was instantly hooked. It's got excellent graphics and great music, the battle system is unique and the story is truely good. I would recomend Shadow Hearts to anyone who liked Final Fantasy. You play as Yuri - a young man with a mysterious past - trying to save the world.

An Artistic Game; Well Worth the Cost.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Plot: The plot of this story in interesting, expressing an original point of view in the process of its' awesomeness. Also, you can have two endings, determined on how you played the game. One: Very VERY bad, while the other is :) good.

Characters (in general): I loved the characters of this game. The main character, Yuri Hyuga, was fun and could make me laugh easily.
Margerete was even better, with her wit and brute charm.
Alice was an extremely likable character. Like a less-perfect Aeris.
Anyway, each character contained at leasta bit of deph in their personalites, only deepening the plot further.

Characters (interaction): I'm actually a fan of the main pairing of this game, which is surprising, considering I'm a yaoi fan. Yuri and Alice don't just speak to eachother, which is a nice change. They interract with other characters. Big plus.

It was nice to watch the characters grow, too. Alice warming up to Yuri, Yuri and his father's relationship becoming more clear, another big plus.

Battle system: I don't know why so many people are upset about this. I liked it; it added a bit of action to the original Final Fantasy BS.

Music: Wonderful. Even worth buying the soundtrack.

Overall, I loved this game. Anyone mature enough to handle the character deph and bllod&gore should buy it.

The third one is coming out soon!

A different kind of RPG

With a unique spin on the Final Fantasy type combat system Shadow Hearts manages to keep your interest. Ever feel in a FF game like you could just sit there holding down one button to get through the whole game? Well, at least Shadow Hearts keeps you awake by making you work for each hit (and many actions)with their "judgement ring"; stop the spinning arm at the right moment or either fail or reduce the quality of an action.
In addition to the above they also get a pretty good plot going, using Earth geography in what I guess is supposed to be pre-great-war Europe and Asia. You travel, you search, you fight, its got good variety.
The major downside to the game is the system of enhancing weapons and the amount of money it costs vs. the amount of money you can get reasonably. Also, it's got some fairly adult themes and at a couple of points in the game you can't help but to think that some of the designers would have benefitted from some serious therapy. Lastly, it is made to make you buy a hint guide (or download one)without which there were many aspects of the game that were just undiscoverable. But, if there are no kids around and you want to get engrossed in a dark, gothic game but no longer have the dexterity of a 9-year-old (its not a shootemup) go pick up the game and enjoy the heck out of it.

Favorite game, and yes I do have FFX

Very good. Simply stated, to me at least, this game was mindblowing. The Judgement Ring (though sometimes evil) is the best thing to ever happen to an RPG. Finally, I actually *had* to stay awake. With other RPG's one can just click 'x' continually to level up, but not in Shadow Hearts. Battles were lots of fun and not nearly as monotonous as most RPG battles are. Constantly returning to the Graveyard to get rid of your 'malice' (another interesting touch) can get annoying, but it's not really so bad. There is one warning though: DON'T BUY THIS GAME IF YOUR REFLEXES REALLY ....! But hey, I am the most uncoordinated person I know, but I did alot better than most of my other friends who tried to hit the button as the twirly thing passed over the 'hit area' of the Judgement Ring. Very fun! Some say the graphics weren't good. That is a lie!!! They aren't breathtaking, but the action in the scenes make up for that. You'll see what I mean. Wow, I just realized how bad this review is. If you haven't played it, do so soon. Shadow Hearts is already more difficult to find in stores.

This game was nothing but fun. I have played a few Final Fantasy games, and although similar, Shadow Hearts holds it's own. I had never heard about the game when I first played it, I was looking at games at a Used-Game store and picked it up, not expecting a whole lot, but it blew my mind. The judgement ring can be annoying at times, but after playing for a while, you get used to it. So pick it up, and get ready for one hell of a ride!

This is one of the best RPG games I've ever played. Just grabbed it because it seemed interesting, and I was not let down. Theres a fighting system I never seen before and it wasn't hard to learn at all just took a little bit to get used too. The settings will amaze you, and the length of the game will astonish you thinking the game is over it really keeps going. As Yuri you travel with a party which in certain respects can come and go as the story goes on. He has the ability to fuse, yes fuse with what seems to be souls of the matters of life, darkness, water, earth, fire, and wind. CG graphics are good enough to look as if they were real but the lip sync. can use a little work. Also there are some mind puzzles, not many, but they will get harder as the game progresses. One more thing I rented and I'm over due because I got so into it. As I said One of the Best.

I, like all of us have played dozens of RPGs up to this point of my life, and so when i bought shadow hearts on a recent splerg, i expected just another run of the mill RPG. I was throughly impressed immediatly, not by it's graphics, which are good, but games like Silent hill 2, and Final Fantasy X are superior, but by it's game play. a more interactive turn based fighting style is involved, with this strange wheel which you have to time your moves on correctly. It's a very welcome addition in my book, and helps keep you involved. The dialogue coming out of the main character's mouth, is not the greatest at first, but does get better in time, and the storyline is very involving. Here's a basic rundown:

Pros:
New fight system
Imersive plot with some historical background

Cons:
Graphically, could be better, especially with body motion capturing

A great RPG, but not for little kids

Just a quick review.

If you like RPG's, this one gets you back to the basic's ... with a twist. The hero has a dirty mind, and some monsters actually slap you around with their schlongs.

I liked this game a lot.
