The most intense racing game I've ever played!!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 3
Date: February 17, 2004

This was received as a Christmas gift back in December 2003, with the impression from the giver it wouldn't be received too well. Being a dirt track racing addict, having played Dirt Track Racing on Windows 98 by Ratbag, which this, in addition to Dirt Track Racing 2, must be made for a Playstation 2 (hint, hint) to keep the other dirt track addicts at bay; this game has every element a racing gamer demands. The graphics are outstanding, realistic sounds of the announcer, engine revving, crowd noises, options being numerous, and I just can't stop playing it. If your thumbs aren't calloused and numb, forgetting how to blink your eyes, and experiencing sharp pains in your palms, arms and your lower left side of your body because of the "leaning left syndrome" after a couple of hours of racing your custom sprint car, then this isn't the game for you. Racing games are supposed to be just as white knuckled induced as the real thing and this fits the bill. I can't describe how incredible this game really is. It's so good that I haven't even opened my other Playstation 2 games yet. You have to try it yourself, either by renting it first before you purchase it or buy it outright, to be a true believer as myself. So, you'd better get it now before it becomes obsolete and hard to find.

" the best racing game i've ever purchased; hours of fun"

if you're a huge sprint car fan like i am, than this game is a must have. i have the PC version and this game for PS2 is much more realistic. the realism is fantastic also. my only complaint is the when racing in career mode, the game freezes up after a few races. the arcade mode is really fun as you race for points through out a complete series. if you think the many NASCAR games are to slow and boring like i do than give this game a try. there is so much action, you won't have time to blink an eye or you pay the price. i've been looking for a game like this.

WoO career mode

I have also had trouble with the career mode freezing. I have purchased 3 different discs and have talked to the company that makes the game and they told me that the problem must be in the PS2 game console because they have not had enough reports to have a solution. It is good to hear that I am not the only one on the planet having this problem. If anybody finds out a SOLUTION please put it on here. Although this problem is annoying, it is still the best game out there.

this game is tuff

I am an avid sprint car fan wether it be following the local boys such as the Montgomery Brothers, Bobby Hawks, and Jimmy Mohan on the Missouri and Illinois circuit or the big dogs of the Allstars or the Outlaws this game is as real as it can get. This coming from someone who actually picked up The King of the Outlaws, Steve Kinser at the airport and delivered him to a race here in town at Tri-City Speedway. The graphics are great and the actual aerodynamics of this are very real. Hang up on the cushion to pass, or come down low on the inside like Danny The Dude Lasoski does at I-55 in Pevely and pass the pack for the checkers that are waving for you. If you are into sprint cars I think you will love the realism of this game. The mud flying, the serious pile ups, this is sprint cars done right.I do want to put out a buyer beware though. If you want to get this game new be very careful who you buy it from.I paid a jacked up price to DVDs123 (DVDs123dotcom) about 100 dollars to get it new and factory sealed as they advertised it.It came with a big white generic security tab on the side where the game opens. The cellophane was all sticking to the game case like it was glued to it to keep it on snug. When the cellophane was off i saw little pieces of residue and tiny bits of gray tape where the original security strip is normally found. The game manual also showed signs of use.Beware if you buy from alternate vendors on this site. Its a common pracitce for many to repack out of print games to jack up the new price. If you don't need to have them new you might as well buy a used copy, this way you know what your getting and don't pay another 75% for the same used game cause they claim it was new.DVDs123 is not the only merchant here engaged in this practice but they were the most recent ones who duped me.

Very realistic and fun

If I could rate this 4-1/2 stars I would. There is not much room for improvements to this game. There are only a couple of things I would like to see improved that I could think of. One is the replay options and the second is more race tracks but this is otherwise an amazing game. If you like racing this is a must have game.

I am a former real life owner and driver of an open wheel sprint car. I raced for about 5 years, destroyed my car several times, won a few, lost a few. This game is as real as it gets without giving your left arm to own one of these real cars. Set ups are fairly compatible, track conditions are very realistic including the change from a tacky/moist track to a dry slick track! Even the view from the cockpit is realistic, get this game, you will be hooked!
