Wish this weren't the last game

First of all - SAVE AND SAVE OFTEN. This will keep a five star game from becoming a one star game. I suppose I could have taken away a star because there are frustrating timed puzzles and the slates sometimes takes several repetitions to work, but bottom line is I really like the game. If you keep saving the game, you will save your self a lot of heartache because you won't have to go to very far back to start again when you get to one of those timed puzzles or problems with the slates. The worlds are interesting. The puzzles range from easy to difficult. The puzzles that are difficult are difficult without being stupid. Even the timed puzzles aren't that hard to do within the alloted time. Try it and enjoy.

Myst V - A fitting closure for a great series!

Of all of the games I have played, the Myst series still remains the one that holds my attention at so many levels. The richness of the worlds, the integrated consistent story line, the wonderful mood setting musical compositions, the Myst mysticism and philosophical development, the challenging puzzles, the gradual revelation of the deeper Myst mysteries, the development and evolvement of characters, . . . all across a period of over 10 years. Myst V brings to closure in a very satisfying way all that preceded it. The game plays very fairly with the puzzle solutions being logical in a Myst sort of way. I enjoyed the new and different worlds . . . and the inclusion of things from previous Myst episodes and periods. The continuation and resolution of some of the principle Myst characters was especially satisfying. Well done!

The creators and developers took many risks with the Myst series and, in my humble opinion; they have certainly succeeded in creating an environment that immerses the player in ways that few other games accomplish. To extend that experience, I have used the Prima Official Guide and the other Myst books to add additional background to the Myst experience. I certainly recommend all of them. I will miss the anticipation of another Myst release and will continue to hope and search for its equal in another game series.

I haven't played it yet...

Myst V is better than Myst IV, because although there is a "time" aspect to the puzzles, they aren't as miserably hard as those in Myst IV. Todelmer.

A lil bit disappointing, too much video of the characters talking. I just don't think watching them shuffle around while talking to me helps keep my attention in the game. Other than that it is a good game!

The Best Ever!

Myst V: End of Ages is the greatest installment of the Myst saga so far, and the best finale I feel ever was written! The plot twisted and turned as well as the classic old-style mystery movies way back when, and the video graphics were top-notch. The writing of the storyline could trick even the sharpest sleuth, and it was a difficult game at times, but not so much so that one is tempted to give up. I truly enjoyed stretching my brain working on this game!

Myst V is more like URU than Myst IV is.

Myst V was like URU in some ways. I felt like It took too long to listen to Escher each time (main character), but he had hints every time. The ages were interesting; Yeesha is older. There is a snow age, two beach ages, a star age, and another age which will seem familiar. The ages were smaller, not too small, and the slate was a new thing, used with puzzles. It was worth playing, despite being lower on the Myst totem pole. It's better than many other games that are violent or immoral.

The ending seemed elusive. Despite being called "End of Ages", there is no "right" ending in this game (as far as beyond solving the ages). You have to enjoy the puzzles, because you end up on familiar teritory, and that's the end. No speech at the end, like usual. I like what Atrus has to say in general. His speech is darker in tone, than usual. This game is worth playing, but lower your expectations, it's not the big finale it might have been. Also a few of the events described in journals seem darker than previous games. Mostly, the journals are OK, though.

Also, the game comes on 3 CD-ROMS, to load, but plays off of the first CD for the whole game. You can play it without switching disks, ever.

Myst V, Throwback to Uru

Myst V is a departure from the previous Myst series of game, but it is much like Uru with the animated characters as opposed to video cuts. It is not bad, but I did miss seeing live characters as with Riven, MystIII & IV. The puzzles are fairly easy but still challenging. Overall good game ... I wouldn't have paid the original price when it was first released though.
