Fusion Frenzy was the High Light of our Party

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 5
Date: November 20, 2001

Saturday Night, Nov 17th, we had a mini lan party playing an X-Box a friend brought over. With 7 guys and me (the lone female this game entertained us for 5-7 hours, and could have been longer. These guys normally all play Quake, Half Life and other CTF games. This game is not one of them, but still entertained them!
There is 40 games with in this game. Some are like Gladiator (the show) with the Hamster Cages, some are small boat racing, and some are like Mario Brothers 2. It was very high energy and everyone wanted a controller, looser had to give it up to the next player. It was a game I know I'll buy when we get an X-Box of our own. It is worth every penny to have this game that does not get old, becaue you have other games to choose from with in it

Drink up

My friends and I use this game for what it is. A no glitz competition in which we incorporate drinking games, gambling and the glory of gloating. The games are amazing in their simplicity.
The graphics are...well, terrible, but with 2-4 people we play for hours (single play is not so great, so loners can leave it on the shelf.)
Easily one of the best, most fulfilling games for XBOX. I anxiously await a much desired sequel. Great fun for more than one.

One of the most addictive multiplayer games ever!

First off, Fuzion Frenzy is one of those games where playing alone and playing with a friends are remarkably different experiences. Once you can gather a bunch of friends together and start playing, you realize the beauty of this game.

The gameplay mechanics are simple enough to teach individual minigames to anyone, regardless of how good they are at playing games. The minigames in themselves are a mixed bag with some dull, some OK and a good number which are truly fun. The simplicity of most of the games ensures that non-gamers can get into the game and stand a good chance at a decent showing.

Technically, this game isn't a game you would use to show off your Xbox's graphics or sound. What sound is iffy with a questionable soundtrack (although you can tailor-make your own custom soundtrack) and the graphics work well most of the time for their purpose.

Once you play through a few times with your friends, the sheer variety will ensure everyone is good at certain events... enough that the taunting and trashtalking inevitably follows and sometimes will have to on the floor laughing.

This game is like a vicious cycle... you play, you lose and the single event rematches follow, only to have you come back for more. Addictive... this is one game you should have if you have more than 1 friend.

The best game I've ever played with my kids

For those fathers who like to play video games with their children I can't recommend Fusion Frenzy enough. My 9 and 6 year olds and I can't get enough of this game! My friends and I find the gameplay very fluid with excellent lighting and fun stages. My only criticism is that sometimes the action is very small on screen.

A real hoot! Get it and see!

Great for parties, boring on your own.

If this game were a multiplayer only game, i would actually give it a much higher score then two stars. The reason being that the only fun part of this miserable game is the multiplayer and when you have friends over. On your own, it is just a discrase with horrible A.I, graphics, gameplay and audio, all this added together equals a very bad game.

I will now split my review into sections of graphics, gameplay and audio. Of course this game doesn't have online capabilites because it came out before Xbox Live was even released. To be honest, if Xbox Live had come out at the very beginning and this game supported online play, i would probobly give it a 3/5 because of its extremely fun gameplay when you are playing against one another offline.

Graphics- The graphics in Fuzion Frenzy are definetely ones to be embarassed about. With horrible character models, background design and retarded looking features on each "map", the graphics portion of the game is definetely lacking in deatail. It reminds me of something that you would find out of a gameboy advance now a days, actually, come to think about it, this games graphics are probobly worse then even that. Thus if the graphics were better in Fuzion Frenzy, i would give the game a much higher score, but please, graphics like these just aren't acceptable!

Gameplay- The gameplay in Fuzion Frenzy is extremely simplistic as well. Basically, when you are accessed to the menu of Fuzion Frenzy, you are given the choice to enter a tournament or you can choose mini games that you can play on your own or with friends. The game is made up of at least 45 minigames, each one of the at least 45 minigames requires a maximum of three buttons out of all of them on the Xbox controller to be used. Sad! If you enter a tournament, you can choose between two, four, or six stages, each stage consisting of four random minigames that fit that stage and then a final game which they call "Fuzion Frenzy" where you can basically gamble the points that have earned for the other games and depending on whether you lose or win, will get processed to the final rank of that stage putting you in a certain position from characters doing the best to the ones doing the worst.

Like i said before, the gameplay is extremely simplistic which makes it really boring at times and it forces you to just shut off your Xbox console.

However, if you are playing multiplayer, it is a much different story considering that there is actually a challenge (most of the time) and the players actually know what they are doing instead of the incredibly dull and stupid A.I running all over the place.

Audio- Oh god, the worst part of this miserable discraceful game is yet to come. The audio! Every time you play a minigame there is this annoying voice counting you down until the game starts. As the game progresses the annoyvoice does as well providing you with "helpful" commentary. Also did i not mention that the music in Fuzion Frenzy are produced by wannabe techno DJ's? Well now i have, and yet another reason not to buy Fuzion Frenzy.

In conclusion, this game would get a lot higher rating if they had made it "multiplayer only" but enhanced the features a lot more and provided us with a little more complicated minigames. But for now, its just a wannabe game that didn't get anywhere in terms of money made, and in my opinion, never will.

This game redfefines party games

This has to be the best party game to date. One of the best parts of the game is the single player surprisingly, which offers twice the depth of Mario Party. But the best part is the Muiltiplayer. The games are incredibly fun and offers some classic arcade games with new spins, such as super sprint, marble madness, combat, and even Tron. I personally have enjoyed the Sumo the most! Anyways, this is a hopelessly addictive game that can be played and enjoyed by all gamers. Two thumbs up here.

True Testimonial

Unlike most of the reviewers here, I've played this fantastic game at XBox Unleashed in LA. This game is beautiful with smooth animation and fantastic sets. Far better than Mario Party the minigames here shine, the games are all intuitive for the most part, and after a few rounds, competition is fierce for all games.

You do everything from variations of Tron, to old fashioned shooting galleries, to Toobin style races, Tank battles, Parappa style competitions, to vicious versions of Tag, protecting burgers from bugs, SUMO, and classic games seen on the old American Gladiators. That's only a small sample. This game is a blast.

Should be about 3.5 *s

This game is a lot of fun, but some of the mini-games are just stupid -- you have to spraypaint insects?? Yes. The graphics are great, but theres always room for improvement. There should be like a career mode because you play once and when the game is over, it doesn't count for anything -- you can't get more levels, characters, skill points, etc. Also, you can choose how many levels you want in a tournament (3 games for each level), or you can just pick a mini-game, but I think you should be able to pick which levels you want so you can avoid those... bug games. Don't get me wrong though, this game is pretty addictive, but it's been sitting on my shelf for a while. Rent it first.

Good game for all ages

Everyone in my family of five enjoys this game. We range in age from 6 to 40. I can't comment on this game for single user play since I have never tried it without at least one other player. However, this is a classic that we often return to. The kids have fun playing with each other or with us. When I had "the guys" over (the gang I grew up with), we had a lot of fun with Fusion Frenzy when we were done playing Halo.

The controls are pretty simple for the games. This doesn't take away the fun for us. However, if you prefer games where you like to master complex button combinations this is definitely not that game! For my family, this makes it a reasonable and fun game to play with the kids.

I didn't give this a 5 star rating for a few reasons. The characters get small and hard to see sometimes. Also, some of the games get old quickly (although with so many to choose from this is a minor issue). Finally, it would be nice to have more variety then the 4 characters that you get to choose from. However, all of these issues are minor and don't prevent us from coming back to play.
