If you don't have a PC, then buy this game for X-Box.

I own this game for PC and I've been a fan since the beginning. Roller Coaster Tycoon is basically an amusement park simulation. Here you can create from scratch a new park or improve an existing one. It's actually a fun game, seeing your own roller coasters going around, all your employees in the park doing all the work you assign to them, and more. The thing I don't like about the X-Box version are the controllers. I really prefer the mouse and keyboard instead of using the joysticks. I'll be honest, if you're interested even a little bit in this kind of game, buy it, you can't go wrong; it's easy to get into and challenging to even the "experts." however, if you have a PC, I would highly recommend you get the PC version, it has more flexibility and it's better to control than the X-Box controls.

What can I say?

Roller Coaster Tycoon is a great game. Being brought to XBox is a good start to companies to remember that only good games sell and us consumers are not going to stand too much reguritation of titles. I do wish they could have made the game a little clearer or adjusted something to use some of the XBox capabilities, but I have to say nothing has changed. They did put the expansion packs into the original game. And do not worry about the controls ... they actually did an okay job adjusting it to the XBox controllers. You have to use all the buttons too. All in all RTC is a great game ... but it is the same game as the PC version so if you already own it, that is enough said.

Good port to the console, but the PC version is still better

I own both the PC and Xbox version of these games and still have to give the nod to the PC. The console graphics just aren't up to par for the PC and the movement/building of rides is just way too cumbersom on the Xbox. You can easily have 4 or 5 different windows open trying to build a simple ride. The PC version just comes off as smoother. However, it is still a fantastic game on either.

Pretty fun game

When I saw this game was available for xbox I had to get it. I never played the game before but I saw it on T.V and it looked awesome. When I started playing this game i was lost on what to do. So I went to the learning section they have in the game and it helped a lot. Once you get the hang of it you will not want to stop playing this game. It is also cool because it includes the expansions cockscrew foolies and loopy landscapes. The only reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 because I thought the graphics would be a little better nut it is not really that big of a deal. This is a must for sim lovers everywhere.
Enjoy:)

Awful Graphics

Stay away from this game. I loved RCT when it came out for the PC, and was looking forward for the Xbox version. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PORT! The graphics are a joke, three generations behind -- approaching Atari 2600. Playing the game with a thumbstick is also very difficult.

This is a shame . . . an awful shame . . .

I've only played this game once but that was enough! I played it at my friend's house for about 30 minutes but that was convincing enough! I loved it! I wouldn't stop thinking or talking about it for a full week! Finally now a year later I have found the opportunity to purchase this funky cool item!

I Wasted my $$ buying this game

I'm a big fan of theme park simulations, and these can be fun even on consoles. I have played Theme park Roller Coaster for Ps2, Jurrassic Park: Operation Genesis, and this game.

This game, which includes the 1998 PC game is the most detailed park game on a console. However, the graphics just aren't up to date, and it is especially frustrating to manuver the camera to see what is going on in certain angles. Also the controls are rough to use, because there is no keyboard. Between the squinting and the tough controls, this game just isn't much fun.

I did not have these problems with graphics and controls with the other two console theme park games. Theme park roller coaster, in particular was fun and had an easy to use interface. Unfortunately, that game was easy and kind of limited.

I'd probably recommend Jurrassic Park: Operation Genesis among existing console theme park games, although that game is also easy.

Maybe we can hope for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 to be ported to Xbox.

extremely addictive!!!!!!!!!!

i have owned this game for a short while but have played it as often as possible.its dang hard to put down!you get to run a theme park as you probably gathered already.ive read a lot of reviews from various sources and its not really as complicated as everyone says.it does have its obnoxious parts though.basicly, you get a loan and then must build a amusement park bottem up.every decision that could possibly be made is yours!you build rides from a few genres including water, roller coasters, kid rides, and transportation.theyre really simple in most cases but sometimes the computer wont just tell you what it wants you to do.thats aggrevating.then you must put in a bunch of shops to keep the money flowing.i like to put them at the top of hills so when the people get there, theyre all hot and are more likely to pay ridiculous prices for drinks.yes,it that in depth!then theres another menu for construction type stuff.this includes buying up land, intensive excavation, building sidewalks and more.then theres a less important thing where you can "create atmosphere".but its not really that exiting.just flowers, trees, trash cans and junk like that.theres a few nice statues and some fountains though.lastly, you will also have to hire boocoo security, mechanics and handy men.stuffs always breaking down and for some reason the people always litter no matter how many trash cans you put out.ive got a bunch of roller coasters,a train, tons of kid rides, water rides and even massive mazes for people to navigate.you can make money in many devious ways.here are 2 examples.1-wait until a bunch of people are walking up to your park thats advertised as free.then hike the price up to 50 bucks.wait till theyve all paid then drop the price to free until youve got another flock coming.for some reason they only turn back unless if you go over 50.2-you can read thier thoughts.so when someone is lost and wants to leave, direct them to the info stand so they buy a map.if they leave you dont get rich.its loads of fun especialy if you have a lot of time on your hands, because it will devour your life!

A let down.

A great concept, poor execution. The graphics are mediocre, but that is not really what ruins the game. What ruins the game is the confusing/complicated controls. It takes a lot of practice to do even the simplest things in this game. Also, it gets to be border line impossible to build the larger, more elaborate models of roller coasters. This game is fun for a day or two, than it becomes too difficult and annoying. A sequel with more simplified controls might be the solution, because the concept of a simulation theme park is not a bad one.

Thought it would have been better!

i don't play any computer games but i thought this game would have been the bomb on the box, because it recieved such great reviews for the pc. hmmm!, i was completely wrong. this game is really hard and i don't think that the xbox controller makes the situation any better. i think that strategy and puzzle type games are better for the pc because you can at least use a mouse to aide your playing. if the xbox had a mouse available for some of the games i think that this would have been a really sweet idea for the xbox, but since the controller has enough flaws as it is, i think this was a bad decision.

sorry RCT, shoulda' stayed on just the pc!, i only give this game two stars on the xbox for effort.
