Great game bad graphics

This game is awesome, when i had it i used to play it all day and all night. The graphics didn't bother me because they were average for the time. The gameplay is great. Not only do you shoot and bomb targets, you take care of a crew that can pass out, be injured and die. It's fun for the whole family.

The ads are wrong, There is no multiplayer in this sim

While the hype for this simulation has been extensive, it is in-fact not accurate. The simulation itself may be very playable, but only as an individual. The much promised multiplayer capability has been dumped by the game developers or the publisher. So if you were anticipating flying with your friends on bombing missions or intercepting the bombers you are about to be disappointed. If you never planned on flying on line in the first place, this may be a good sim. The screen shots look fine, and the concepts are OK. Since first announced, this sim has had delay after delay and degrade from the initial promises of excellence. Many are concerned that while the initial issue may be good, the current record of response to avid fans and questions make one wonder if and how long it will be supported by technical staff. In over a year of watching the ebb and flow of this sim, I have come to the conclusion that it may not be all that the hype has said...with no multiplayer it certainly is expensive compared to other single player games. Just one opinion.

I can't wait!

Hasbro/Microprose

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 12 / 21

Since Hasbro has been 'involved' in ANY Microprose or simulator software company, consumers and loyal enthuisists have been totally up in arms. Thousands of people have found out how they have been let down in 'future' releases of numerous products, and Hasbro's tech or customer support is the WORST, or fuctionally non-exsistant. A good example is the Roller Coaster Tycoon releases, and the numerous message boards jam packed full of angry and mislead consumers. This latest realese of B-17 IS NOT close to being worth [the money], and should be [less], because of Hasbro's intervention.

I've been waiting for this game for over 8 years! I may be a small part of the reason it was created because I sent Microprose several letters thanking them for the original game and begging for a sequal with updated graphics and hopefully a little better control at the strategic level. I'm not overly concerned about the fact that it will not have multiplayer support.

JUST PUT THE GAME INTO MY GRIMEY PALMS SO I CAN START PLAYING IT NOW!!!

PS to Microsoft (or Hasbro): Support this game and begin preparations for B-17 III ! (if you build it, we will come)

BOMBS AWAY!!

I finally got my hands on a copy of this. Its a version from Europe, for some reason the American release date isn't for a month or so. Regardless I'm sure the game will be the same. So let me tell you about it. My first impressions are, holy smokes. This game is going to be a huge hit. I'm not sure where to start. Well for one, the graphics are simply amazing. You can fly a huge variety of planes, be it American or German. But the best plane to fly is the B-17 of course. You can man all 10 positions in the plane, and during a mission can switch back and forth. During attacks you are so busy keeping track of everything the time just flys by. You can man a gun turret, pilot the aircraft or even be the bombadier. And if you are unfortunate enough to get shot down, well, don't fret, just switch planes and continue the mission. You can jump into any plane you want, be it the bomber, or your escorts. There are tons of missions to choose from as well. You can do the standard quick missions, training, longer missions from start to finish and various campaigns, both historic and some created ones. I'm amazed they packed this all onto one cd. This game has been in the making for so long, but it was definetly worth the wait. Anyone who likes WWII flight sims will fall in love with this game. I've only had it for a few days since it came in the mail. If you can't wait, get it from a Euro dealer, otherwise, it shouldn't be much longer till North American audiences enjoy this.

Microprose/Hasbro support

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 20 / 35

Any one who purchased Falcon 4.0 can attest to the problems that came with Microprose/Hasbro pulling the plug on the support and patches for what was supposed to be their newest title. Many Falcon 4.0 fans were left with a good flightsim, but the problems and bugs kept many from playing it. A company called IBeta and a large user community turned this sim around and made it playable and more realistic. While I am not against Hasbro, I am not there biggest supporter. It took almost 2 years to turn the sim into what MOST of the users bought if for in the first place. Although it was very playable and looked great out of the box, it did not live up to the hype or play the way MOST people wanted it to. Before purchasing this title, look around on the net for previous titles made by the developers/distributors. There are several reviews from Europe also. Check out messages posted in message boards about this game. Keep in mind that the pre-Xmas price will go down in a couple of months. If you feel that you are a die hard sim fan that can't wait to get a good B-17 simulator, go for it. Otherwise monitor the web. The price will go down sooner or later and once the gaming community gets hold of the product in North America, many reviews will be posted and the message boards will be full. You can then make an accurate decision on whether you want to spend the money on this title. Although Hasbro/Microprose might have changed the way they do business and support, I for one am going to wait this out. This is just my opinion...

Simply the best!!

This game has everything for people who like WWII flight sims. Fly German or American planes in countless missions. Send out recon missions for film and info about the next target. Then plan out the mission from which target to target and what the altitude should be for each way point. Be aware of flak though, one good direct hit and the 17 is done (personal expierence). The realism of this game is incredible. If the formation makes it back to base check the casualty list. See who made it home or not and then prepare for the next mission. This is the closest thing to being in 17 than actually being in one. In three words, simply the best.

Ive been waiting on this game over a year since its recent release the message boards have been lighting up with warnings about how much machine you will need to run this game .theyre saying a min of 256k ram and a big video card people with the big machines are saying this game is the very best with the exception of a few small bugs that should be patched soon .people with the small machines are crying about how slow the game runs and that the screen will lock up.let me know if its worth the upgrade to buy this game , until then ill be building rollercoasters .
