pleasantly evil

I really enjoyed the wicked genre of the game. Some people hate the fact that you start from scratch, but what are the odds that you'll find an underground empire that you don't have to fight for or build yourself. The real trick is keeping your minions from desserting because they have sence of creature comforts to and you have to pay them (what you thought they'd just work for you putting their life at stake with no cash income?) and keep them from warring amongst themselves because they have natural enemies. This game is really humorous (ever slap a bile demon) the creatures reactions to certains actions are normally quite funny. One word of advice never sacrifice/slap the horned reaper. if you sacrifice it the creatures will desert with the tought that you're an idiot for sacrificing the best demon. If you slap him he'll go into a killing frenzy killing everything in sight until is but a bloody wasteland before him this is actually quite funny to watch,but...

Fiendishly Fun

This real-time strategy game is worth purchasing just for the rare privilege of playing the Evil side of the coin. There is so much to like about this game -- the amazing sounds, secret levels with strange objectives, the thrill of backhanding one of your creatures when they slack off. Most players will eventually grow a little irritated at several flaws, including a battle system that even the sequel couldn't improve and a level structure that starts you from scratch after each dungeon. However, with a torture chamber among the inventory of rooms which you can build and play with, this game will definitely provide hours of wicked joy.

Slap--Slap---Slap--Your Mistress is angry.

One of the best games on the market, in my opinion. Just love being the bad guy, instead of the regular good versus evil scenerio.

The game actually teaches you how to play, which is rare any more in the gaming industry. Build and manage you money. Some levels are easier than others, but then there is one that you have a killer time beating, as you get attacked wave after wave and unless you build a prison, immediately, no way to get gold easily. The addon, is okay, but I think it could of been better.

The second DK 2, wasn't as good as the first one, here. Too much shading and the graphics are not the best for such an expensive game.

DK 1, love it and wished there had been an offical level maker/editor. I wished EA would make another game similiar or identical to DK1. I would buy it in an instant!!

Bad day at the office dear?

Had a bad day at the office? Why not come home conquer the world? This is a great game for semi-mindless fun. It is billed as a stratagy game, but many times they help you out just a little too much. Some levels are more stratagy than others, some are merely hack and slash and pray you can keep enough of your creatures alive to survive the attacks.

On the other hand I love the graphics and sound - especially on the main screen. You can watch the land turn from a lovely idyllic green kingdom to a nasty pox ridden blemish complete with howling wolves. Inside each level, there are different obstacles to overcome and you as the lord evil. Plus you have your own issues to resolve, the flies keep picking fights with the spiders and they do tend to get eaten in the process. Such things count against you on your score. Of course you can always torture a hero or two to make yourself feel better.

The creatures that assist you in your attempt at world domination also change with the levels. I love the way they get bigger as they train up. I also like the voice of the narrator. I could listen to him all day.

My only critiques on this are that it is too dark for it's apparent targeted age group (13 - 21 year olds) yet too simple for older players. Also when there tends to be a lot going on on the screen - you sometimes lose your game, graphics engine issues? Save often. Maybe the next one will be better?

Enjoy Being Evil

I first played this game when I was about 12 years old. I couldn't get enough of it. Instead of doing bad things on the internet, I was doing bad things in a game. I loved greedily mining for gold-loved the ruby mines-infinate gold-and I loved killing the good guy. I stopped playing it and gave it away when I was about 15 and in my "good girl" mode. Now I regret giving it away and want to buy it again. It is very addictive and much better than drinking, doing drugs, or getting pregnant(believe me-you don't want to be pregnant).

When you play this game, you feel the utmost of evil, and when you walk away from the game, your personality can still be the same.

It is extremely addictive to have a community of powerful beings to command, and it is fun to go exploring through the lands that you are to take over. Highly recommended.

-Claire :)

P.S. DO NOT allow impressional kids to play it. It could change their personality. That would not be good.

Marvelously evil fun..

Dungeonkeeper is the first of the "play as evil" games, and the first to use the hand as the interface. I suppose the graphics are hokey by today's standards, but I still pull this one out every now and then.

There's not much replayability, alas, in the single-player game. But hook up with a couple of friends, and your life will never be the same!

Too bad

This game is one of the greatest games i've ever played (thats not an RPG) you can smack and kill chickens and workers if they aren't working hard enough. Basically the best part is that you are absolutely evil fighting to conquer the world from the uglyness of good. I played it for the first time at a friends house and got pretty far...That friend moved away and i've been lookin for the game again. only now its unavailable through .... So if anyone has the power to do so, get this game available again. This game and dungeon keeper 2 desearve to be put back up. So overall this is a great game and desearves to go back up. And i'm sure you all can agree...i mean how often do u get to be an evil boss who slapped chickens and workers and tourtures the good.

Brilliant strategy game. Great concept. HELLarious humor.

Dungeon Keeper is a brilliant game, but its not my favourite strategy game. Digging under ground creating lairs to hold your minions, vaults to stash your gold and many other rooms to train, please and feed your creatures. Unlike many games, you play the bad guy for a change. You controll many Imps who dig tunnels and rooms for you to acheive your evil plans to stop and destroy the Lord of the Land and his heroic men of piece. Great visuals create a dark atmosphere with the use of flame lit torches (which is done very well) and the cursor in the form of a hand, which lights up dark areas. The creatures and monsters that you controll range from giant beetles, flies, trolls, wizards, skeletons, bile demons, ghosts, mistresses and many more. To controll your minions you simply click on the creature you want and you can then pick them up off the screen and drop them where ever you want. This game has great humor. With its screams of pain, Imps running along tunnels and the ability to hit or beat your minions to work faster.

I think this game is very good. Its funny, violent, simple and easy to play. The only problem I had with this game is that it get hard a bit too quickly and can sometimes get repetetive. But its still a great game.

I have both DK Gold and DK2 and they are magic. Unfortunately since the demise of my old pc and an upgrade to XP I am unable to play these great games. So I'm agreeing with the previous reviewer - Bullfrog - PLEASE pimp these games to run on XP. I'd buy the revised versions like a shot.
